Absolutely awful bar. The bouncer up front lied to our face and talked us into bottle service; promising us $ 100 bottle service for 6 people. Then, when we got upstairs, they told us the minimum was now $ 300, and that we would have to pay it or pay a ridiculous $ 40 cover charge. Then, after we agreed to pay for the bottle service, the bouncers and wait staff were continually rude to us, and continued to try to scam us. Having read a few of the other reviews, it seems that ‘Ultrabar’ also makes fraudulent charges to people’s cards, we will absolutely be checking our statements. I would absolutely recommend that you avoid this place at all costs!

It’s OK. Not terrible but not great. The tables you buy private for the night with bottles are nothing to what I am used to coming from New York. I have quite a few 20 year old friends and friends whose girlfriends are, so it’s a nice place we can all go to together. Which is a defiant plus. However it’s an EXTREMELY awkward space. It’s long and not wide at all. Really hard to walk through, really, really, really hard. Many levels, again to hard to travel to all, a lot of small weird rooms to walk through. They do however have a few floors with different genres of music on each which is pretty cool, but not always worth the trouble of walking there to get to that level.

I’m new to DC but not the club scene. I went with a group of my friends, waited in a unmoving line for quite a while. Then some time after, My group of friends were checked in by far the rudest bouncer I’ve ever encountered. Fair warning that for the guys, a certain ‘dress code’ has to be met for this joke of a club. Once paying(overpriced for entrance fee), we went inside to find it being a small, overcrowded area with what looked like high schoolers/frat boys partying. We all got a table which was ok but of course the service had to suck… Overall, this ‘club’ is a major joke and is the lamest one I’ve ever stepped foot in.

Kinda small venue, a little awkward because it is long and not wide, and kinda expensive drinks, hard to move. Only came for Glow events but since those have moved to Soundcheck will be relocating there. Light and sound system are decent. Had decent people come play on the nights I did come(Bassjackers, Tommy Trash, etc). I wouldn’t come here for a non-Glow event though :/

My friend and I ran into some of the rudest guys here, people who grabbed us and just started to aggressively thrust into us with no notice or permission and people. Would not come again-girls, if you want to have a good time dancing with some fun and non-non-clingy guys go elsewhere! The mood of the night was ruined by this place.

ultrabar was my first experience going to a club, so i’m not really sure what to compare it to. in light of that, my comments are more observation than analysis. you will feel dirty. the primary demographic here is old men. is that in spite of the fact that this is one of the few clubs that lets in 18-year-olds, or because of it? i don’t know. there are four floors with different music and lighting/decorations on each. the thing that the floors have in common is that they are all very packed and crowded, and very loud. my favorite floor was the second because there is a balcony from which you can view the first floor. i would have to say that people-watching was my favorite clubbing activity. there was a lady sitting on a chair in the bathroom with an arrangement of things like gum and snacks spread all across the counter for people to buy. i asked her how her night was going and she didn’t respond. it was really sad. the good thing about ultrabar is that it is located in a relatively nice part of dc, that is, not georgetown but also not anacostia. overall, my recommendation is to go to shake shack(a block away) instead.

First and last time clubbing here. I never ever go to clubs, not my scene, but came out just because my friends wanted to go since we were in the area. The bouncers were so rude. Most of the guys that come here are creepers. Just no. I saw multiple people throw up, and the person who cleans it up just puts down paper towels. No sanitation or anything. It felt like leg day walking up and down the stairs. I do not know a lot about clubs, but I do know this one is horrible.

Worst club ever! So many creeps and the bouncers are looking for wrong people to kick out! The only good floor is the ground floor that plays good music!

Before I made 21 I was there couple times because that’s probably the only one fine choice! The security every time was nice, but the host is unbelievable rode! The bartenders wait you to turn around to take your drink you to order new one! It’s crazy hot like you even can’t breathe, but the music is different and nice. The good thing is that the club is at 4 levels and you can meet a lot of people which is nice. And the interior looks nice too that’s why 3* not less! Anyways I will never come back there!

UlraBar sets the standard for ratchet clubs in DC. I went because I heard about the 4 floors and thought it sounded fun, but I was definitely wrong… Each floor is basically the same cramped room except they play different music(hip hop, top 40, R&B, reggae). Employees pushed people out of the way because the floors were so cramped. Multiple fights broke out and security didn’t do jack. Drinks are obviously watered down. The people who go here are a either tools or flat out ghetto. To sum it up, DONOTGOHERE unless you like sketchy places with sketchy people!

horrible customer service. We got two tables. That’s 800 dollars. Bouncers are assholes, the keep kicking people out who weren’t even doing anything. Never coming to this shitty club again. What a waste of money. If you are coming here to get a table, don’t do it.

I’m a little torn about writing this review. I do enjoy going to this club, but their are a few things that I dislike. I’ll start off with the good first. I enjoy going here to dance and have a few drinks. The crowd is very diverse and you can meet a lot of different people. Drink cost about the average price for the DC area. There are some nights that are not crazy busy which makes it easier to move around the club. The music is pretty good, and they have different DJs on each floor that play different music. Also the bouncers keep an eye out for people under 21 trying to drink. Listen, if you’re underage and drinking in this business, don’t get upset at them for kicking you out because you broke the law and got caught. Now the bad. First, UltraBar can get very busy and you pretty much are the entire time you are there. If you don’t get there before 11 you’ll probably be waiting outside in line for a while. I feel like the management makes people wait in line to build up to draw attention to them and make it seem like the club is poppin’. If you want to get a drink it might take you a minute depending on what floor you’re on. Overall I would recommend trying this club.

Well I went here for the first time Friday night. We arrived around 10:45 pm and we’re given wristbands and shown to our table. It was a huge line, just as many other Unilocalers forewarned, so I was thankful we didn’t have to stand in it. Once inside, it was relatively calm for the first hour. The music was mostly edm and a lot of young, under 21 looking types. Somewhere around 1230 the place became packed and the music improved! I began having fun. I saw more variety in the ages and the entire place was energetic. We left around 2 to head to RoseBar, but overall it wasn’t a bad first time there. I like to try new places. Be aware if you have men in your group, they can be very nitpicky with the dress code for guys. I won’t be returning here, because It’s not the best place for a fun night in the Nation’s Capital, but hey, I can scratch them off the list.

Being a college student in DC, I have been to a couple of clubs in the area. But I have to admit, Ultrabar is by far the worst of them all. Firstly, I want to state that on Saturday September 19th, 2015 at around 12:50, I was wrongfully accused of stealing one of the Disc Jockey’s phone. The DJ snatched my own phone out of my hands and told me he wouldn’t give my phone back unless I gave him his phone, which I didn’t have. On the spot, he was trying to figure out my password which led my phone locking itself. I have no idea why he was trying to get onto my phone but it was clearly a INVASION of my personal privacy. He then proceeded to THREATEN me and continued with the verbal HARASSMENT while he was on stage in front of people. He told me to leave the venue while he still had my phone in his hands. I was escorted out of the club and was again constantly harassed by the bouncers and even the owner. I was accused and treated inhumanly and didn’t even get any apology. Ultimately, I got blamed for something I did not do and was treated unprofessionally. Secondly, this place is a magnet for under aged drinking. I’ve seen people who WORK there buy drinks for minors. The bouncers even give out 21+ passes to minors they like. Authorities should look into this. I only wanted to have a good time and make this club work for me. This is by far unacceptable. No wonder it has 2 stars.

AVOID. Look, I know when you’re between 18 – 20 your options for clubbing are very limited. However, Ultrabar is NOT with your time or money. I went once and I will never be going again. If you’re over 21, I don’t know why you would even consider wasting your time at a place like this(unless you have a thing for the youth.) Yeah they give free admission for ladies over 21 on certain nights but I can assure you that there ISNOPOINT. The line is unnecessarily long and the venue is horribly crowded. You don’t have room to dance! The people that work at Ultrabar are BEYONDRUDE! I understand that it’s a club and they more than likely deal with stubborn drunks all night, but I’ve met plenty of bouncers, bartenders, etc. that were nothing but friendly. I highly recommend Eden or U Street Music Hall whether you’re under 21 or not! The crowd and the people at these places are so so much better. On certain nights you can get in for free too(regardless of gender.) In conclusion, Ultrabar is overrated and 100% terrible. As a frequent DC goer, I promise that there are much better places to go to.

Extremely rude bouncers. But that was already obvious from previous reviews. What was even more disgusting was the fact that their website, under FAQ, advertises $ 20 cover charge, but the bouncers were adamant that for my 18+ male friend, it was and has always been $ 30. This is not something listed on the website and the bouncers were more than rude about it. They definitely take advantage of the fact they are one of(or the only) bar/club around that’s open to the 18+ folk. I even asked to speak with the manager, but they just pointed me over to the head bouncer, who just kinda sneered at us. There was no way in hell we were going to give our money to such awful people/company, so we left and had a great night elsewhere.

I will never ever come to this place. They charged all of my friends the same credit card charges and it was incorrect. The hostess quoted us different prices and added on additional fees so she can get a bigger tip. The manager is rude knowing damn well he wouldn’t be tough if the bodyguards weren’t there SCAMARTISTS and RIPOFFS… BEWARE. CHECKYOURCREDITCARDFORFRAUDULENTCHARGES

The Ultrabar could be a decent venue if a few things were attended to: — Tips are AUTOMATICALLY added for credit card tabs for one person. Pay in cash if possible so they don’t rip you off. On top of this, the drinks are expensive and pathetic. We had several LIIT’s and they were about 3 – 4 oz of liquid and completely insubstantial. — The bouncers are extremely rude, even to people who aren’t causing any trouble. They were also inattentive — the several people I’ve observed starting fights and causing trouble were not dealt with. E.g. My friend was reprimanded for«throwing elbows» for several minutes by some short fat bouncer. I was standing right next to him and he was doing nothing of the sort. Meanwhile, a 6’4″(and almost that wide) dude who was rolling on E was standing within 5 feet of the main stage and attacking anyone who touched him. He was left alone and not dealt with. — Be clear about the dress code. When I attended there was no dress code, so I was disappointed that I followed their website’s instructions to «not wear shorts or athletic wear.» I showed up in jeans, a button down shirt, and leather shoes to an EDM show because I didn’t want to be turned away at the door. A tank top, shorts, and regular shoes would have been much better — and I saw many people wearing this exact combo.

WORSTCLUB/BAR/LOUNGE I HAVEEVERSTEPPEDFOOTIN. Not only does this place resemble a run down frat house, but also the service sucked and the entire atmosphere reeked of a bunch of wannabes. This so called«club» is a lot smaller than you would even imagine. I was warned that this place was«cozy» but I had no idea it was going to be a freakin mosh pit. And even if you do buy a table, they don’t have bouncers to kick off randoms. In my opinion, this place is the lamest place you can be at. You must either be a 21 year old trying to be cool or just a dumbass. What was the worst thing about my entire experience was that Tchami was overbooked and this place got shut down by the fire marshals EARLY. I will never come back again.

Got a table on the hip hop floor and really enjoyed the night. Staff was great about reserving the table and getting us in quickly, always great to skip the line. The service was decent, the bottles coming out with sparklers is a nice touch. The music was fantastic danced all night. Even spent some time on the main floor and the EDM was nice as well. However, the crowd was a bit sketchy. I don’t love places that let in underage kids. I don’t think I would have enjoyed the night if we didn’t have the table and separate dance area. The few times I was walking or went to the bathroom, I had more than a few guys just grab me. As previously stated in other reviews, security does not seem concerned about guys harassing girls but hey they did do a nice job of keeping people out of the tables area.
