In all fairness, I am not a devoted fan of Subway because of their lunch meat selection/provider. I wish they served chicken that looked like a real chicken breast. You know, something more natural and less processed. Having said that, my review shall be only about this establishment rather than the chain itself. Because I live nearby and because of time constraints, I have resorted to purchasing a sandwich from here on a few occasions. Once I walked in for soup, and they had none. Apparently that day they decided not to heat any(or bake enough cookies since they were also out of those). The employee was not apologetic for key items missing from their offerings. This Subway is kept clean and there are some tables and chairs to sit outside during those warmer days.

Went here today for lunch, got it to go, and was charged 10% sales tax…10%!!! I asked them why they charge tax for a to go order and was incorrectly informed that DC charges 10% sales tax everywhere… which is 100% false. Poor customer service to say the least!

This message is for the owner — turn the A/C on in your store. Right now. Think about your customers and more importantly, your employees. I mean, you’ve got a pregnant woman working for you and the last several times I’ve been in there with my husband, it was so unbearably hot I thought I was going to pass out — and that was just after a few minutes. There’s no way I would sit down and eat in those conditions — it felt like we were seriously in a bread oven. I can’t imagine working in there all day. I also wonder — is this even good for the food to be in conditions like this all the time? We came in yesterday actually(May 31) and with it being 90 outside, you can imagine(or maybe you can’t because you choose to ignore it) how ridiculously uncomfortable it was in there. I love how the door was open too as if that helps at all. We walked out because it was so bad. And we like hot weather. I figured the first few times that maybe your a/c was just broken, but I don’t think it is. I think you’re just cheap. Well, as one of the last few people that actually like subway, you’ve lost our business. This is DC. You need to factor in cooling costs into your business plan. If I wanted to eat inside of the sun, I’d pack a picnic, find some blacktop near death valley, and rock out, but I don’t, so no subway on Mass for us.

Usually an ok Subway but late night cashiers should focus on staying off of the phone at the register so to properly serve customers. Maybe this lady’s dismissive and disrespectful attitude was just a result of her having a bad day but not providing normal consistent customer service always leads to problems. Try another Subway in the area if you can avoid this one at 455 Massachusetts.

Updated 6÷16÷15: their AC was not worked yesterday. It was like a sauna in the store. I used poor judgment and purchased a sandwich still. I was sick with nausea and vomiting afterwards. I’m still sick now. I don’t ever plan on returning. This subway is an average subway. they keep the joint pretty clean which is refreshing. I don’t like the fact that people walk in from the street and just use the bathroom but that is neither here nor there and more reflective of my own issues. Don’t expect to find any parking out in front. This is directly on Mass which is super busy and full of construction half the time. you might find some metered parking in the bag. It also has outdoor seating. It is located next to Le painQ. They run out of certain types of cookies at times based on our few visits here.

What really stands out about this subway is the interior. It looks like a really tidy café. They also sell a small selection of caffeinated drinks. I’ve tried a few and they are a step below Starbucks to be honest. The staff there is always friendly and the sandwiches tastes like they do everywhere…

This is Subway’s smaller concept franchise. Since I’m not a big Subway sandwich eater, I can’t tell you what the smaller menu is missing or what it might have that’s new. But this place opened about a year ago in the building where I work and I’ve headed there for coffee, salad or something. I went there more often because the staff seemed so dedicated and the place was always well-stocked. I’ve cut down my trips because it’s clearly declined in service and upkeep. It’s almost as if the franchise was sold off or management changed. At 8am, for instance, the do-it-yourself coffee is frequently empty(and where there had been 2 – 3 ready-to-use dispensers, there’s one). The milks for coffee are empty or missing from the counter. The stack of hot-cup sleeves or lids are near-empty. There’s no reason why these aren’t maintained. Often, rows of items in the grab-and-go refrigerator are empty for days. The ice tea dispenser is empty at lunch. And the few recent times I’ve gone to get a salad at lunch, the lettuce is a little pink. It’s still the most convenient option but my purchases there have definitely gone down along with the quality.

This Subway is next door to where I live in Washington during school times, and it’s convenient and fast! The lady that works at night is sweet and does a very neat and fast job! The inside is different from the NYC wallpapered Subways I’m used to seeing back in Georgia. It has a television and a faux rock wall. Very nice inside for a Subway.

Slightly above average Subway. Seating is more comfortable, and Starbucks’ smaller child(Seattle’s Best) has a presence inside. There’s a television and a much different layout than the typical old school Subway. Subway Café is apparently Subway’s prototype for office buildings. With it sitting right under 455 Mass and next door to the 425⁄401 Mass apartments – they’re in a prime spot for customers! The employees have consistently been very cheery and great. Hours are good too! Several other Unilocalers have complained about parking? Seriously? These must be the same poor people that stop in the middle of Massachusetts Avenue and unload 50 packages to ship at the UPS Store and then get mad when people honk at them. Please. Park yourself on I Street behind the building – there’s always many spots back there.

I was driving by and discovered this«Subway Café.» So I decided to stop in and check out the place. Starbucks(on a small scale) mixed with Subway Sandwich Shop is the first thing that crossed my mind when I walked into the store. The interior of the place is nice. It gave me a true«café» feel as I ate my wrap. The staff were very courteous as usual. It is now one of my lunch time destinations. My only gripe, and this is no fault of Subway, would be the parking. Do not even think about parking on busy Massachusetts Avenue. The nearest spaces are behind the building on «I» Street. Nevertheless, I still love eating at the«Subway Café.»
