I don’t often see people in here. Usually when we come, we’re the only ones there haha But I like them. :) I never did the rotating sushi bar only because I have no idea how long the sushi has been out there for, but their freshly made orders are pretty good. They have a good sushi selection and their menu is huge. I believe that they share the same staff as the Thai place next door. They check up on you frequently and are pretty friendly. Although I never had their entrees, their special maki rolls and appetizers are good and shareable. It’s a small space– they only have the bar seating(the conveyer belt area) and about four tables in the back. So if you’re with a large group, this probably isn’t the best place for you.

Waited 30 minutes for the kaiten sushi belt to be replenished. Nothing. Cooks and servers having a good time in the kitchen(open window) eating food and drink. Disappointing.

Per other reviews — at least if you are bored, you can watch the conveyor belt. This is not good sushi. There were points where the same 2 rolls were the only things on the belt for 15 – 20 mins. Do not go here. That is all.

Food was good. Prices were fair. Conveyer belt was pretty cool — was a little sparse at first but there weren’t many people here. Overall just okay.

Two stars, but only for service and generous portions of the chicken karage app. The sushi is an absolute waste. I’ve eaten a lot of sushi, including mediocre food court sushi. I’ve never been to the point where I could not finish the roll I ordered because it was so bad. It was bad, just… not good at all. The rice was gummy, the fish had no flavor, and it was just meh. Don’t go here for sushi. Just… They don’t put much on the conveyor belt anymore, so you don’t really save time. You should just go around the corner to Momiji or wok and roll if you want sushi. I feel like the attached thai restaurant is what is keeping this place afloat. It’s too bad that the quality is so bad, because it used to be decent and kaiten is convenient for a lunch break that you need to keep short. This place just falls woefully short of even being better than supermarket sushi. The staff is nice, but this place is just sad… They were showing the Caps game when I went, a game the Caps ended up winning, and for it to be a sushi place showing DC sports in the Verizon center the place was super dead. They need a proper sushi chef and a new fish supplier, that might save this place, but until then don’t bother.

Horrible. Frozen chicken, yakitori chicken was cold and chewy, seared tuna was not fresh. The empty place should have told us not to go.

the sushi is very bad, and the service is even worse. The dragon role has 90% rice. We were forced onto a 18% gratuity even though we had to make repeated requests for water. If you’ve ever had sushi before, avoid this place.

Quality if the cuts aren’t very good. Salmon roll had a lot of fat. They had to tee do it a couple of times. Salmon nigiri was ok. Tuna nigiri was not trimmed very well.

Wow this place is bad. First off — I live about 2 blocks away from the restaurant. Why did it take an hour and change for my food to arrive? I know it’s not because it took that long to cook. You know how I know that? Because when my Tonkatsu arrived it was completely, 100% devoid of heat. I’ve had food arrive that was lukewarm, but never this bad. You couldn’t even tell if it’d ever been heated to begin with. The Miso soup actually held some temperature for the 45 minutes it was sitting out, so it was only somewhat terrible. The sushi didn’t need to be heated, so you lucked out there, but some of the pieces were falling apart and one barely had any shrimp in it. This is probably due to a combination of 1) the driver just throwing all of the food in there and carrying the bag with zero regard for keeping it upright and 2) this place being terrible at making food. Lots of Unilocal reviews are filled with hyperbole, so I try to boil down to the bare essentials. If the above was tl;dr, here you go: — Sushi place is .2 miles from my apartment — Food takes hour and 10 minutes to arrive — Food has cooled completely to the point of room temperature. Had to microwave it I often find myself wondering«Could I, someone who has never worked in the service industry and who knows nothing about cooking do a better job than this place at food preparation/service?» If the answer, is yes, I know I’m in trouble. Sorry Sushi Go Round, but you lose this one because understanding not to leave food sitting out until it’s cold is right up there with remembering to breath in terms of difficulty. NEVERAGAIN

Nice, cheap place to each sushi in Chinatown. If you are going to be sitting in the«go round» sushi area, look at the wall, the prices for each dish are there, they are color coded.

Always a favorite pre-movie meal, even if it is a bit overpriced. Their rolls are unique and inspired, and their sashimi is always very high quality. At first I was a bit wary of things off of the conveyor belt, but if you watch, the chefs are very professional and keep track of what’s been sitting out for too long. If you go at an off-peak time, there might be a smaller selection on the conveyor belt so be prepared to order off the menu instead. Lastly, the service is always so wonderful! The hosts and waiters are always very friendly and helpful(my last visit, I was on crutches and my waiter was so helpful and accommodating!) and you can really tell by the small touches like plate aesthetics that the chefs really care about their work.

The sushi is amazing. I always sit at a table in order(I will never be interested or willing to partake in conveyer-belt sushi), and the sushi is fresh and delicious. I’ve had varying experiences with the service – it really depends on who and the time of day.

I’m never disappointed here. The food is fresh and well prepared. The Sashimi Salmon sushi is the best. Most important is the friendly and attentive staff. An excellent, inexpensive choice for a quick sushi fix.

The quality of the sushi did not justify the price. Two 6 and 8 piece mediocre rolls for $ 27? I think not. Service was ok but we had to ask the waitress for a pen to mark our orders on the card. Every other restaurant I’ve been to that has customers mark their orders provides pens. We didn’t sit at the counter because one half of it was a mess! The restaurant was NOT crowded so why didn’t someone take the time to clean it up? The mess and half empty restaurant should have been a sign for us to go elsewhere.

This place is sort of sad. The service is lackluster, and the sushi is limp and uninspired. If you want really, really good kaiten(sushi on a conveyor belt), hop on the metro(right next to the restaurant) and ride just a few stops up the red line to Union Station. There’s a MARVELOUS kaiten there called Yo Sushi.

This was the worst sushi I’ve had in the city to date. We left about half of what we ordered on the plate which was a first for a sushi dinner and probably the last time that will ever happen. The rolls were weird tasting, like Hmm are these ok… Nope they are not! The nigiri was so fishy. It was gross. Just skip this place. Too bad bc the waitress and hostess were extremely nice and accommodating.

Ok, I liked the novelty of sitting around the food transported on a conveyor belt… new to me at least(but I don’t eat a ton of sushi). My friend enjoyed previous dining experiences here before, and suggested this place for a quick and inexpensive bite to eat after a long afternoon in DC(at the flea market, but I digress). The service overall was friendly and they answered all questions we had(or found someone who could). Her tip: you can request many of the items from the menu(not main dishes), if they aren’t already going around the conveyor belt, to be placed on it, particularly if you would rather have a smaller size portion to try(and cheaper). We asked for edamame, seaweed salad, and a few types of sushi rolls to come out on the conveyor belt. It wasn’t very crowded when we came in, so as others mentioned, not as much going around the conveyor. I ordered vegetable tempura from the menu, and had never seen what seemed to be a big type of lettuce leaf battered up in a tempura dish before. The other veggies seemed to be sweet potato, asparagus, squash, and either eggplant or mushroom(we weren’t sure). The dish was fine… with a pretty large I thought, including a small salad and Japanese white rice(for 10 bucks). My friend enjoyed her miso soup and sushi rolls. A little disappointed they did not have mango and sticky rice(or at least they did not recommend it as the mango was not fresh), but the fried banana and ice cream was good. My friend had asked earlier if they had green tea ice cream. And they remembered that when we ordered this dessert, because the two scoops of ice cream with the dessert were green tea. That was nice and earns them a fourth star. As some have said, you take this place for what it is(it doesn’t try to be some high end, fancy sushi restaurant). They have a small bar/regular restaurant seating area as well, if you’d rather not sit around the conveyor belt.

Inside Gallery Place, there is Sushi Go Round & Tapas. A couple of options for seating: around the moving conveyor belt with sushi, at some tables indoors, and at some tables outside the restaurant. I believe most people stuck to seating around the conveyor belt. There were signs for reserved seating but I did not see anyone sitting there the hour or so my boyfriend and I were there. The sushi plates are colored and priced accordingly. I believe green was least expensive at $ 3.00, yellow at $ 3.50, red at $ 5.00 and orange was something higher than red. There is a chef plate for about $ 10 I believe. The sushi on the belt seemed like they had been rotating for awhile and wasn’t super fresh but it wasn’t bad either. I ordered the mango salmon salad. Good but there was too much dressing and thus too salty for my liking. My boyfriend ordered soup which he kept saying was really hot even though he had it for at least 10 minutes. Service is decent and this is an option while you wait for your movie to start, which is why we tried this place.

We ordered sashimi delux($ 25), beef flank teriyaki($ 15), and crab salad($ 8). The crab salad and sashimi did not taste fresh. They had not gone bad yet, but they tasted bland. The sashimi slices were thick and big, but the fish had no taste. This was so weird. There was much crab in the crab salad, but the crab was too dry and tasted bland. The beef in the teriyaki was tough to the bite. I was disappointed by this place. The only good thing was the service.

You’re never going to conveyor belt sushi for the freshest or best sushi around. You’re there for the novelty, the price and speed/convenience. Sushi Go Round hits most of these points. You really want to go when the restaurant has a crowd. That way you know that food is being replaced more often. Still, while I at my lunch this weekend, I still saw one of the chefs taking off plates which had been going around a few too many times. I saw no particular way to indicate how long it had been out. The sushi I chose wasn’t super fresh, but it didn’t taste like it had been out too long either. Prices here weren’t too bad, but I’m used to being able to get 3 full rolls(6 – 8 pieces) in a lunch combo for about $ 11. I spent $ 12 and got 12 medium sized pieces total. Each plate ranges from $ 3 to $ 5 and has four pieces. I was a little disappointed that they only had maki rolls on the conveyor belt and offered no nigiri. The maki rolls the had weren’t particularly interesting; nothing really screamed out«eat me!», but it made for a decent quick lunch.
