Synergy Day Spa was closed as of April 26, 2010! I bought a gift certificate for a friend who went to redeem it in May. But the phone number no longer works, nor does the website or the email. I was charged a lot of money for a service that my friend never received. We were never notified about the closing. I am sorry to hear that the business is closed, I hear that they were an excellent day spa. However, I feel cheated by the business and I would like to get my money refunded. I also want to make sure that no one else loses their money through this Unilocal site.

I was given a gift certificate for a massage here for my birthday last year. Scheduling was slightly difficult, as getting to Adams Morgan after work and before their closing was hard for me to accomplish. But they were always very nice on the phone. The staff is very professional. The massage itself was very relaxing and pleasant. I liked that it was in a rowhouse – it felt cozy and relaxing without being uppity. They were great about suggesting places to park, etc. The prices seem reasonable and overall I was quite pleased with the experience. I’m not positive that I will be back often since it’s a bit of a hike from Old Town, but I recommend it.

I went to Synergy for my first massage in a long time. My shoulders and back have been bothering me from too much exercise. Jean, my masseuse, did a great job. She took time to ask and answer questions. She used a combination of Swedish and Deep Tissue. Really seemed to know her stuff. The place itself is very low key. Being a guy, I also appreciated that it wasn’t fru, fru or overly girly.

I went here for a day of beauty on my birthday. It was fantastic. I got a facial, massage, mani and pedi with a friend. All of the services were excellent. The staff was proffesional and really nice. They waited on us hand and food all day long. They ordered our lunch and brought it to us on trays while we lounged. It was a great day. The price was excellent. I’d go back anytime.

This place has the best messages. Francine IS one of the best! The prices are good, you don’t feel rushed, they are good at what they do, and everyone is genuinly nice.

This place was kind of a nightmare for me, no lie. My friend got me a gift certificate for a manicure there for my birthday, because I bite my nails and need to stop. So I called to make an appointment for a manicure. I suggested like 3 different days of the week and couldn’t get an appointment on any of the days I wanted. Keep in mind this is for a manicure, not some obscure procedure or anything. Also keep in mind there are several places in the immediate area that take walk-ins, no appointment necessary. Then when I finally booked the appointment, the receptionist still needed my credit card info to hold the appointment. I didn’t think I should have had to do that, since it was a gift certificate I was using, but she still made me give it to book the appointment. So today I go to go to my appointment with the gift certificate in my purse. The lady I talked to on the phone told me they were located at 18th and Florida, so I go to 18th and Florida and don’t see any signs for it or anything. I take my phone out to call, but my phone just died. I get out the gift certificate because I think the gift certificate must have the address on it right(it doesn’t). Why wouldn’t you put the address on your gift cards? Idiots. So I ask a few people and nobody can tell me where the place is. I go into Larry’s Lounge and no one there could tell me where it was. I’m starting to wonder if this place even exists. At that point there was nothing I could really do except give it up. I decided to call when I got home, but I also went into a nail place across the street to get my nails done. So when I get home I call this place and ask if I can reschedule and not get charged for missing the appointment today and I explained what happened. The girl on the phone informed me that I would be charged for it, but I can reschedule if I wanted to. She said it’s their policy that they have to charge people for the time if they couldn’t fill it with another customer. So, just to wrap this up… my debit card is being charged for a $ 35 manicure service that was never rendered. I was going to pay by gift certificate, so the gift certificate will go unused, as I will never go back there(wherever the hell it is). So, not only did I not get the gift of a manicure that my friend paid them $ 35 for, I was charged $ 35 for a manicure I never received. So between the two of us, we have spent $ 70 for a service I never got. And I had to pay for what was supposed to be a gift. Does that strike anyone else as f-ed up? I understand the whole policy of needing to take the credit card info, so that when people don’t show up they lose the time, which in turn is a loss of revenue… I get it. But there should definitely be a waiver for extenuating circumstances, and they certainly shouldn’t be giving out gift cards if they aren’t willing to amend these policies under legitimate circumstances. Because let me tell you, a the gift certificate to synergy day spa was no gift. Moreover, they are clearly overpriced as I went to a completely satisfactory nail place across the street that charged $ 15 for a manicure. The one I never got at synergy was $ 35. That’s $ 20 more… more than double the price of the place across the street. And when I got home and looked at the website, I saw the address is on Vernon street, so the actual building is not on 18th street or florida(the 2 cross streets the original lady I talked to gave me). Imbeciles. This whole experience made me want to start biting my nails again.

I found Synergy Day Spa through the Bioelements website(big fan of their products) and I couldn’t be happier. like the previous entries, the spa itself is the top floor of a row house, but that cozy feel makes it all the more relaxing. I’ve only gone for facials, but Wanda has been a god-send. She’s great about putting together products that will work best for your skin and fills you up with samples before you leave. The absolute best part is there has never been any pressure to buy the product.(OK, I’ve only been twice, but still. that’s pretty amazing by spa-standards) I’m so happy I found this place.

I went back to Synergy for a facial, for the first time in a while. I called somewhat last minute, and they were able to fit me in later in the afternoon. My facialist was Wanda, and she really knows her products(Bioelements), and makes great use of them. She even said I didn’t need certain expensive treatments, just a week-long course of one of the basic products. AND, she gave me enough sample to last me for that week! So far, I’m thinking the product really is helping my skin. The space still looks good, no worse for wear, and I was treated very nicely by everyone there. It’s really hard to beat it for convenience and quality, especially since it’s two blocks from my house.

Synergy is really great. It’s a tiny, boutique place tucked into a corner on Florida. I got a gift certificate for my birthday and decided to use it for a facial. I think I like massages more than facials though. I am actually not all that into facials. Even so, the facial was really quite lovely and posh. You can’t leave tips on credit cards, so make sure to bring cash for that!
