Taeis Cleaners

I’ve been going to Taeis pretty religiously for about two years now. They’re always incredibly friendly and prompt, I’ve never had any problems with my clothes, and the prices are pretty reasonable. Good people and good service!

Just the worst. The absolute worst. We have been going here 5 years, and the woman who used to be in charge was AMAZING! They never lost anything, they never ruined anything. In the past month alone they have RUINED two of my Anthropologie blouses, returning them in shreds. The lady tried to say «i brought it in like that». I asked «Why would I pay $ 13 to dry clean ONE blouse if it was already ruined?» She was so rude and unapologetic.
I didn’t even ask to be reimbursed for the blouse, which was $ 100, but I DID ask that I not have to pay for it. They would not give the blouse back to me and STILL made me pay $ 13 for it just to pick up the rest of my clothes! What a disaster, and she never once said she was sorry.
Accidents happen, but at least take responsibility and say you’re sorry. Thats customer service 101. My husband and I now go 4 extra blocks out of our way, but at least we are sure we’ll get our clothes back in one piece.

I’ve had it with this place. I’ve been willing to overpay for the convenience of being so close to my house but I just can’t do it anymore. 1) They ruined a brand new suit and wouldn’t take responsibility (claimed it was the fabric), 2) They are so over priced, 3) The service is not very friendly (it used to be but they fired their best employees). All this adds up to me and my wife finding a new dry cleaner and hoping people read this and think twice.

I found this cleaners while going to school in DC. I now live in Hyattsville, MD and I still travel to UStreet to get my clothes cleaned. They are always super polite and my clothes come out spotless (blood and everything). You can pay before or when you pickup. I ways pay before because they do so well!

Literally the worst dry cleaning experience I’ve ever had.
Had to go there three times after dropping off two pairs of pants and they’re still not done. They charged me, up front, $ 16 for one pair for cleaning and one repair and $ 24 for the other pair for cleaning and two repairs. I picked up the pants a few days after dropping off and took them home. Found them to be cleaned but not repaired. Had to wear one pair and the repair was minor so I chalked it up to a loss and brought the pair with two repairs back. They said they’d have it the next day. I came back two days later instead and they weren’t done. Came back a week later and only one of the repairs was done. They promised they’d do it but I just took the pants. Paid $ 44 for two pants to be cleaned and one out of three repairs to be made. Will never go back.

I have been using them for about 4 years now and never had any problems. Both the ladies that work there are very nice to me.
They did completely stretch out my girlfriends dress though, but we weren’t sure if it was from them or from the way they put it on the hanger.

This is my favorite cleaners especially for ALTERATION and they’ve done some SAME DAY alterations for me for VERY cheap!!!

The dry cleaning part of this place is good, but I wouldn’t suggest going there for alterations. I have had them mess up quite a few hemmed pants and jeans. I’d recommend U Street Cleaners, just a few blocks down U St.

Unbelieavable. I brought items for alteration to this place, and agreed a price for the alterations. Without telling me, they also drycleaned all of them, charging me double the agreed price. I gave in and paid the additional amount.
Worse, when I returned two days later with new items to dryclean, I got a lecture on how it was me who had been stupid on this incidence as I would have had to expressly inform them that I didn’t want drycleaning. The conversation was extremely frustrating, as both women insist that the client must be wrong and are frankly not open to reasonable discussion.
Hence: you’ll get charged for services you don’t ask for… and then get reminded even during your future visits that you were the stupid one. Why would anyone give money to a business like that?

I’ve been using them for one year for dress shirts, slacks and the occasional alteration. No complaints here…

I’ve been living on U street for 2 years now and have been using Taeis Cleaners throughout the entire time that I have lived here with an occasional broken button, but otherwise no major issues. Unfortunately, I will never return and I would discourage others from using this business.
2 weeks ago I dropped off 2 shirts and 3 pairs of expensive dress pants. When I put on my pants the next morning there was extensive staining on the back of both legs with scattered spots throughout the pants. I returned the following day and was told
«we don’t cause bleach stains»
«you wore these out and got the messed up»
«it’s from bleaching your floors
When I calmly asked to speak with the manager or owner, the 2 women behind the counter refused to provide a name or business card. They then began yelling at me and told me I was cheating them. I was so shocked, and returned how with ruined pants and no compensation. I caution others about using this business and will never return despite it being across the street from my apartment.

I like them — nice people, prices seem reasonable, and they’ve always done quality cleaning for me (mainly laundering men’s dress shirts, wool slacks, and occasionally a suit). I have seen some button decay, but I don’t like buying clothes and keep my shirts in service for longer than most guys do.
(I had been excited when a Georgetown Valet opened on V St. closer to my house, but they weren’t as good, lost an item that a friend brought, seemed harsher on the buttons, and I think cost slightly more. So now I’m taking the longer walk back toward Taeis.)
I did have a mixed experience with an alteration. (The cleaning merits at least a four in my book, maybe five, but if I gave a separate review on the alteration service it would be three.) I had the shoulders on a sport coat brought in, and that didn’t work out perfectly. Not bad, but for something more complicated than a hem or cuff I should have gone someplace more specialized as a tailor.

I would definitely recommend U Street cleaners over this place, this place is way more expensive ($ 50 to dry clean a down comforter as opposed to $ 35 at U Street cleaners). And U street cleaners uses organic products. Also, I have taken stuff here before and they were unable to get the stains out.

I like this place. I haven’t compared prices because it’s so convenient for me (and I don’t have a lot of dry cleaning) but the people are very pleasant and helpful, which counts for a lot — it’s rare enough these days that it definitely affects my decision about where to spend my money. I had some pants hemmed and they did an excellent job for a very reasonable price. They even hung on to a couple of out-​of-​season items I left by mistake for 4 months.

I’ve been going to this dry cleaner for about a year now. They have been pretty good to me for laundering my dress shirts and dry cleaning the occasional suit. They launder shirts for $ 1.69 each and suits for about $ 4 a piece (been a few months since I’ve had a suit cleaned).
My only gripe is that they charge around $ 5 to launder a black dress shirt.
They’ve got a computer system that tracks your stuff by telephone number (as most dry cleaners do these days); you can have your shirts ready usually the next day if you drop them off in the morning.
Overall, very good service and very reasonably priced.
