I hosted a planned private event at Top of the Hill for 18 people at lunch time last Saturday for my best friend’s bachelor party. The space has a great feel, the food was good and inexpensive, the drink selection was solid, and the service was good too. We enjoyed the juke box. The events coordinator was very helpful and accommodating to us. I would highly recommend this place for similar events.

Does anyone ever just go to Top of the Hill randomly? Or is it only for events? It seems like every time I’m there, it’s for a random event or gathering of some sort. Which Top of the Hill seems to handle very well. There really isn’t anything extremely special about it or anything that makes it stand out, but it’s a nice space for a group of friends to gather for drinks. Located above Pourhouse, you do get several«hanging out» options… grab a couch and relax, shoot some pool, or just chill at the bars. The few times I’ve been, I’ve found it a bit difficult(depending on where the crowds are congregated) to get to the bar and order if there’s a mad rush, but I guess that’s no different than anywhere else. I’m trying to find something else to say that may be helpful, but I think you’re getting exactly what you expect to get at a place like Top of the Hill… nothing great, but gets the job done.

This review is based on the bar space and service. I came here last night for a private event held by my state society. It was Elvis birthday celebration one month too late. I guess better now than never, right? It was cliché with the fake Elvis walking around serenading the patrons with tunes. I was one of them. The Elvis was hired for the party. The bar is dark and has a intimate light to it. There loads of old photos and posters up on the walls with a post WWII theme to it. There are a few couches, tables, and bar seating. It feels more like a tavern than a run of the mill bar or lounge. It would be considered trendy with a slight dive feel which I loved. The bartenders were excellent. They kept up with the rush quite well without any trouble. They were being hounded by tons of people and you could tell they knew what they were doing with the way the handled the crowd with poise. Food was not provided at the event, however, if you wanted anything, you could order from the bar and it would be brought to you once it arrived. I had a good night. I will have to come check it out on my own.

This place is kinda awesome! I say kinda because its a Steelers bar… Other than that fact I like it! Great Happy Hour specials! $ 5.50 for all of the Flavored Stolichnaya products, House Red and White wines and for some odd reason Peroni… Late getting off from work on Friday??? Not to worry. They run a late Happy Hour! It’s located above the two level Pourhouse Bar. Looks kinda like a well laid out basement but its ion the attic! Pool tables, a juke box and comfy leather chairs on the far end and about ½ a dozen high top tables. The bar it’s self is about eight seats and well stock with the«Whats Happening Now» liquor products. The staff is cool and interacts well with the regulars and even makes to first timers welcome. The menu is pretty much regular bar food I grabbed the grilled Kielbasa«Permanti Styled» sandwich, served on a hoagie roll and topped with french fries, cole slaw and sauteed cabbage and a side of Pierogies(mashed potato dumplings!) I did see a cool platter of sliders that I will definitely return for! You can mix and match them from a selection of shrimp po’ boy, pulled Carolina pork, buffalo chicken and Philly cheese steak! yep coming back for those!

I can’t believe it took me so long to try this place. I live around the corner and will become a regular. It’s above the pour house but has a much nicer décor. I didn’t try the food but will do that soon enough. The staff was wonderful, Celeste and Jamie the bartenders where really friendly and fun to hang with. When I fist walked in around 5:30 it was empty, by 6:3020+ young people snuck in behind me. It’s small but cozy. I do wish they had a bigger beer selection, but the ones they had where good. They had more types of scotch/whisky then beer. I noticed a lot of the negative reviews are pretty old, so maybe it was different then?

My wife used the room for a J. Hilburn trunk show. The staff is attentive and super friendly. Celeste and Jamie especially!!! They pour superb drinks and the prices were good too. The room was beautifully decorated for the holiday season too. We will definitely be coming back soon!

Terrible. The macaroni and cheese tasted and smelled like the cheese had gone bad – I didn’t even touch it, and they didn’t even offer to take it off my bill! The spinach and artichoke dip was good though. Won’t be going back.

This bar has fantastic happy hour specials, not to mention a great drink selection. The service is consistently great, there’s a pool table which I love, and extremely comfortable seating.

It’s fair. Dark room with various funky furniture. On a «classy» scale of 1 to 10, with 1 being the Cap Lounge(sorry, Cap Lounge!) and 10 being the Ritz, I give it a 3.5. Below average, but kinda trying to seem a little chill-classy. Not my preferred spot on Penn Ave SE. I recommend Tune Inn instead. Tell Matty(the bartender) and Karen(the blonde server) hi.

There’s a poster in the men’s room for a Tuesday night special on a 9 pint«tube» of Bud Light for $ 22. Who knew? Bud Light in Tubes. Well it is a Hill dive bar. Booked this place for our Christmas party for work. From the amount of money we collected, we had to have forked over at least $ 1000 to TOtH. $ 400 went just for the tackily appointed room. I did like the va-va-voom Jane Russell tribute wall. They wanted a minimum bar total for the four hours we had the room. That leaves $ 600 for food. What did we get? A tray of chicken cutlets A tray of spring rolls A fruit tray A dessert tray A cheese tray It was no more than you’d see at a complementary happy hour. No discounted drinks Merry Christmas TOtH!

As you might infer from the name, Top of the Hill is located on the strip of bars on Cap Hill on Pennsylvania. It’s located above the Pourhouse, so you’ll have to walk through the front door of the Pourhouse and make a hard left in order to find this pub. It’s a fun, smaller venue on Capitol Hill… Good times.
