Washington DC Ghost Tours

This was a great tour at night! Our guide was Kristen and she was full of awesome facts about the ghosts of LaFayette Park. We took our niece who had never been on a ghost tour in DC and she loved it! The tour started in front of the Dolley Madison House and ended at the White House. We will definitely do another tour with Washington DC Ghost Tours next time we’re in town. (tip — arrive a couple hours early to get a good parking spot and then go grab a bite to eat before heading over to the starting point)

Our guide Susan was an incredible tour guide. She was full of energy, knowledgable and wonderfully engaging! She immersed us in the dark and interesting history of DC and I could not get enough! This tour was incredibly fun, and the view of the White House lit up at night was an added bonus!

Can’t say how the tour was because we got a text it was cancelled. We had the Groupon. I couldn’t reschedule because we were leaving gor back home.

Our tourguide was actor Chad Eric Smith. His delivery of stories were beyond what you would expect. The stories were historically accurate and full of suspense at every corner. The white house and the square looks awesome at night. I would definitely avoid the bus tours and walk with Mr. Smith around LaFayette Square if you dare.

This tour was just ok. Been on tour in Savannah and nothing compares to that. Stories were not very tragic. Guide was ok. She was hard to hear sometimes and not very convincing in her story telling. It was more of a history tour of buildings on Lafayette Square.

Great experience, our guide Chad was great! Our guide was very well versed and knowledgeable on the historical information being presented. The tour guide was very good about including the audience in the tour, and added appropriate humor to the tour. I would definitely recommend this tour to families!

Order your ticket by phone before 8PM. My sister showed up with cash a little before 8PM and the guide would not take it. The guide directed my sister to call in and get a ticket. My sister called and got through and the woman was flustered because my sister called so late. We showed up at 8PM, while my sister was still on the phone, but the woman would not sell two more tickets because it was «after the deadline.» I tried to call but the call went to voicemail. I didn’t take the tour, since I hadn’t paid, but my wife did, because she didn’t care. What on Earth is happening with this «business»? Overall, it was a sad evening for Capitalism in Washington, D.C.

Did the Lafayette tour, and it was very enjoyable! Real stories with an added benefit of creepiness. Chad, our guide, was awesome! Excited to try some of their other tours.

The Capitol Hill Tour is terrible. The stories are thin, repetitive, and some seem made up. Also you will be asked to take pictures, and asked 20 times whether anyone has spotted any orbs. The most exciting part was when the tour guide scared the bejeezus out of one of the attendees by shrieking.

We went on the Lafayette Square tour last night, and thoroughly enjoyed it. Our tour guide, Lala, did a terrific job of telling the stories for each site. We learned so much about the famous ghosts in the area such as Lincoln, as well as some lesser known to us — Dolly Madison, and Commodore Decatur to name a couple. We even got some ghoulishly good photos. Would highly recommend!

Great tour for a night in DC. See the Capitol when it is somewhat quiet. Gail was a great guide. Nice to meet people from all over. Don’t be afraid to go even if you are in DC by yourself. The guide and your fellow ghost hunters (and maybe even a few spirits) will keep you company!

Chad was an AWESOME guide for the Lafayette Park tour. You meet in front on the Dolly Madison House and then proceed around Lafayette Park (tour takes about an hour) and ends in front of the White House. The stories you here are sometimes sad, but still spooky.

Well originally we had purchased tickets for the Lafayette tour which 3 hours before became cancelled because the tour guide became ill. After reading the descriptions online the Lafayette tour is the one my friend and I really wanted to go on-​so that was the first letdown. The company did leave me a message and offered me the Capitol tour or a refund in the ticket price also the tour was 1 hour later, my friend and I were pretty planned so we took him up on going on the Capitol tour which was second letdown. When I called him back he seemed a little curt and rude (uhm sir your inconveniencing me-​not the other way around).
So we go to the meeting place they ask you to meet 15 minutes prior to the tour actually starting. So my friend and I are right on time because when you are going in a group you want to respect everyone’s time… well we sign in and we wait for other people to come and when these other guests come some of them are not on the list (they haven’t paid yet or reserved tickets)…so our tour guide has them call their office to pay so needless to say we started LATE and after she does start and tells us what we are going to do on the tour she keeps on getting phone calls from the company and is interrupted. I also hate that she asks for gratuities… she was like if you liked the tour and you want to contribute to… insert name here… retirement fund I am able to accept gratuities.
So finally we are moving-​our tour guide while a little odd and goofy did know a lot of information it was more historical rather than spooky or scary. Much of the history that she was talking about came right off the History Channel and the spooky parts were very short and not well told. During the walk she found someone that was near her hometown and that is all she could talk about with these individuals, she didn’t do a good job of bring people into the fold.
The walk was short and sweet so while there was a little walking it wasn’t so much where someone elderly or a small child couldn’t handle it. Bring a camera to take pictures of some of the landmarks at night… you go to the Folger Library, the Supreme Court, the Capitol building the front and the back-​like I said not a lot of buildings. We spent the largest chunk of time at the Capitol building.
She was talking about the DC the demon cat and when she was telling she was stating why they had cats at the Capitol Building is because the people who were coming to the Capitol Building were just eating their McDonalds… then she realized what she said and said ‘sorry I realize they didn’t have McDonalds back in those days’…yeah lady we recognized it too.
I wouldn’t recommend the Capitol Tour to anyone but maybe next time I’ll try the Layette tour perhaps with a different and better tour guide it would be more educational and entertaining. Because I was bored and annoyed by our tour guide.
Perhaps good for kids.
Get a good walking tour book and save yourself the misery. I was very, very disappointed.

Very fun and informative! I got to see some sections of DC that I had never visited before, and it was definitely entertaining to see the city at night. Our hostess was very funny! I would definitely go on another one if I am in the area again.

WOW! That’s really all I can say! This was one of the most AMAZING tours I’ve ever been on (and I’ve been on several). Raven was our tour guide and my fiancé and I decided to go on a whim. The tour was fun and very informative, I never knew what a haunted city DC really is!
I really recommend this and may even go again the next time I find myself in the city!

DC Ghost Tours is a fun and unusual way to spend an evening, especially around Halloween. The Lafayette Square tour had minimal walking– basically from one side of the park to the other. At about six landmarks and buildings around the square, our guide told us a story about its history, which (obviously) had some spooky elements. Suicide, murders, affairs– Lafayette Square has a rich history and (allegedly) many ghost sightings. Some stories were more engaging than others, but none too scary for kids.
DC Ghost Tour was 90 minutes well spent. I enjoyed learning about DC history and Lafayette Square sites. Who knows… maybe you’ll spot an orb! Or the ghost of Abe Lincoln!

I forgot the name of the your guide but she was really interactive. Some stories were better than others, but over all a good tour. The picture is one we took on the tour in the room of a man whose ghost was cemented into the window. For those unaware, they’re called orbs

I really enjoyed this tour and would recommend it to anyone. I’m local and decided to take my out of town mother who really enjoys things of the ghostly nature. The tour guide was very organized and extremely knowledgeable. He also had a really great personality, which made the stories even better.
Overall, we had a really great time and I have a much greater appreciation for the history of the area.

From the makers of the Haunted Nashville Tours (Graveline Ghost Tours), the Washington DC Ghost Tours does not disappoint! This isn’t some tour for people who want cheap scares and costumed employees jumping out at you.
This tour is for people who are interested in the dark history behind one of the supposedly most haunted places in America — Lafayette Square. Think of this as a story-​telling tour during which you get to see the White House, St. John’s John’s Church, and the Hay-​Adams hotel, among other things. You get a deep history (each fact is corroborated by at least three independent sources, and many of these sources can be found in the Library of Congress in the way of diaries, journals, or letters from the people involved), full of betrayal, sordid romance, insanity, suicide, duels, tragedy, and death.
The tour guides are the only ones that show up dressed in full Victorian garb, and they are very good story-​tellers. They encourage you to be skeptical of the ghost stories, but that’s what makes it all the creepier. Sometimes, touring guests actually seem to catch unexplainable or interesting flashes of … something … on their cameras, and everyone crowds around to look. Several owners who bring their dogs testify that their dogs act strangely, either more aggressively or nervously.
It’s a great tour, great fun, and a very interesting learning experience if you want to know more about DC. I definitely recommend it!
Note: although this is a walking tour, you don’t actually walk really far. So if you get tired easily, don’t worry — there are plenty of places to sit down along the way.
