Very crispy and delicious waffles!!! Got the Wicked Waffle Club and the Peking Duck Waffle. It’s a little pricey, but worth it. They’re pretty filling!

Interesting concept that is well executed! The menu ranges from breakfast to lunch, sweet to savory. I got the Peking duck; it comes in sandwich form which was not what I was expecting. The menu said it had crispy skin in it, so I was expecting the duck to be on top of the waffles, to eat with a fork and knife. However, there was no crispy skin at all, and was more like shredded meat tossed in hoisin sauce. It was so delicious, but not what I expected. My boyfriend got the fried chicken, and was also not what I expected. His came with the chicken on top of the waffle, not in sandwich form. The chicken is fried in panko, which makes it lighter and crispier than traditional fried chicken. The syrup that tops the chicken is sriracha maple syrup and is delicious! I didn’t find the prices to be ludicrously high — we spent less than $ 20 on both, and both of our waffles came with a bag of chips each.

Tried this place over spring break. I had chicken & waffles, wife had Peking duck waffles. Hers was amazing. Mine was not bad but chicken was a little thin and dry. Service was quick and friendly. Seating is limited when outside is not available.

Overall: Waffles are good but the price point is a little too high. Would visit again if I was in the area. Food: excellent flavors. Small portions. Not much of a drink selection(can sodas, big chain drinks and coffee). Location: only a few blocks away from the White House if you’re visiting as I was. The actual place is your typical, small square footage small business in DC.

Hmm I went from not eating waffles for months to going back to this place 2x in the same week. YES it was that good — I had the chicken & waffle(both times) and asked them to BURN my chicken and they were happy to make my meal however I wanted it I also tried their Nutella waffle & red lentil soup Overall the experience was great! Special thanks to Brianna, James, and Ms. Rhonda for being so friendly & accommodating during each of our visits and making the food soooo delicious!!! This is the place to go to for waffles they have soooo many gluten free options & are very accommodating! This review doesn’t fully capture how fantastic this place is I truly recommend you check it out for yourself!

Tl, dr: nice concept, but fell in the trap of many DC restaurants – not worth the price. Went in a little after noon on a Friday and the business was happily humming along. The location is tiny though, so don’t plan on enjoying your food at the business. That’s why they serve their food in to-go containers. It was also raining that day, so we couldn’t sit outside. The cashier was really friendly and willing to engage in conversation. Not so much for the cooks in the open-air kitchen where customers can see everything that’s going on. The restaurant was really clean as well, despite moderately heavy customer flow. As for the food, I ordered the fried chicken and waffle as I am such a huge fan. When I received my order, I was disheartened to see a fairly small portion. I saw two halves of a waffle, which seemed to total the size of an Eggo waffle. The batter was light and fluffy, but only the sides were browned. Imagine if you could peel off the faces of a penny and placed them facing up. Except square. And disappointing. The chicken was below average. They used panko bread crumbs on two small pieces of chicken tenderloins. On the side they served some Asian(non spicy, ginger, a little creamy) style cole slaw which provided a nice contrast, but it was a small scoop on the corner. While the flavors were nice, I left underwhelmed and unsatisfied, especially when it came to my girlfriend’s Peking duck waffle sandwich which looked way better. She had high praise for her food, but I did not

Came here with my wife because she hasn’t had a waffle in a long time. They have a special dedicated gluten free waffle iron and waffle recipe — ordering for her was super easy, no hassle. Both our dishes were delicious and the waffles were fluffy. I tasted hers too and can confirm that their gluten free waffles are very similar to the regular ones! Definitely a great quick eats place.

I was sooooo looking forward to writing an amazing review for this place!!! Maybe it’s the day & time I went(it was very busy) or maybe it was what I ordered but the food was very underwhelming. I got the chicken and waffle which I was expecting to be a sandwich as seen in pictures here on Unilocal. It ended up being one piece of breaded chicken, a waffle, & coleslaw minus the mayonnaise. Extremely underwhelming. The Asian lady before me ordered the same thing and got 2 chicken patties, I got one. I’m not sure why but I didn’t bother complaining because people always berate black people for things so I let it slide. There was supposed to be some kind of sriracha or special sauce which I didn’t get either. Just some plain syrup. I ate it anyways because I was hungry but it didn’t fill me up and I didn’t have the urge to come back. Maybe, just maybe I’ll come again at a different time to see if things are better. Also the staff wasn’t so friendly & the place is tiny so get ready to get your food to go if you go on the weekend.

I have been to several really incredible waffle sandwich places, so I was really hoping that I would be able to find a comparable one in DC. After months of anticipation, I finally got the chance to try Wicked Waffle. The interior is super small. I was here on a rainy day, and I really wish they had had more seating. I wanted to be able to enjoy lunch here, but this is not a place to stay and chat. I ordered the Grilled Cheese waffle with Muenster. While the waffle was good, it was not my favorite. I didn’t expect the waffle to be so crisp. The cheese was good, but there could have been a bit more. Overall, it was an adequate sandwich. I love that they have such an expansive menu. I do wonder if the sweet waffles would have been any different.

3.5 stars. This was our first stop once we got into DC. Best way to start the day, waffles! Saturday morning and it was packed with people deciding what to get and waiting on their waffles. It’s a small space with about five or six seats(bar seating along the corner) and about two or three tables outside. My friends and I ordered chicken and waffle, banana and Nutella waffle(gluten free) and the prosciutto waffle(gluten free) sandwich. I didn’t try the regular waffle, but from what my friends told me, it was pretty good. Although the banana and Nutella waffle was gluten free, it was still very good. The waffles were made to order, perfectly crispy and light. All the ingredients they used were super fresh; that moment when they open a fresh jar of Nutella, yum! Overall, always great to have the option of gluten free with a good amount of choices on the menu, but wish they had more options for sweet waffles. I would like to come back the next time I’m in DC.

I would give six stars if I could. I’ve only been once, but the staff(and food) left an amazing first impression. My best friend and I were greeted promptly and with smiles. We took our time viewing the menu because there were so many options. The two lovely ladies(I forgot their names, but I think one was Briana) didn’t rush us at all since it was our first time. They even gave us honest opinions when we asked about some of the options and gave a sample of the cheesecake topping when my friend was unsure if it would be too sweet. There was complimentary water available near the cash register, which was perfect for us. The cashier then asked if we would like to sit outside and cleared a table for us and she even brought the food to us. How sweet is that? The food was delicious. I had the apple one and my friend had the strawberry cheesecake. The outside of the waffle was crispy but the inside was soft. I don’t think I’ve ever eaten something so quickly. Just enough for a light brunch!

I’ve never had a bad experience at Wicked Waffle… but then again, I’m pretty sure you could sandwich almost any food between two large, freshly made waffles, & I wouldn’t be one to complain. Don’t expect anything too out of this world~ it’s hard to turn a waffle smothered in Nutella or cheese into a fine dining experience. But what you can expect is a quick line, savory & sweet options to satisfy all palettes, & of course, crisp, warm waffles served with anything and everything. If you’re a fan of waffles, chances are you’ll be a fan of this place too.

I went here recently on a rainy Saturday morning after going to the Renwick for the third time this month with a friend from out of town. We looked for a place with brunch nearby and while we found a few, the wait on all of them on a rainy morning was too long for our taste, so we quickly made the call to check this pace out based on the reviews. We got there are it was really cold and there were no seats, which was fine, and we were quickly enthralled by the menu and we knew we’d made the right choice to try this place. I knew there was no way I could come to a waffle joint and not check out the chicken and waffles and my friend wanted something sweet, so we got a nutella as well. I wish I could say this was even half as good as the pictures make it look… but it wasn’t. I’m no waffle connoisseur, but the waffles weren’t the best. They were dry and lacked the flavor I wished they’d had. As if that wasn’t enough, the chicken wasn’t all I wished it was. I almost feel like the chicken should have had some spice, given the sweet combo of everything else.

not compelled to come back after my visit –place is tiny and busy. the layout makes absolutely no sense, it’s a hot mess in there –barely any structure or order in there. the way they keep track of orders is they check on you after they’ve served everyone else to see what they missed(in my case). –peking duck waffle — I had to try it. $ 11 or something after tax, was expecting a pretty substantial sandwich here. The waffle is sliced in half to serve as the buns, and the sandwich completely fell apart as it was so thin and covered in hoisin. This ‘sandwich’ needs to be eaten with a fork. The duck is basically a diced hoisin duck salad. It was ok(obviously hoisin+scallions hard to go wrong) but wasn’t really what I was expecting. Seems like they’re a bit overpriced. Would’ve liked to try the chicken and waffles, but I’ll be just fine without it

Wicked Waffle was on my list of places to try for the longest time. I met some girlfriends downtown DC for lunch here. First off, I love breakfast food in general so this was a must try after seeing all the reviews. Unfortunately, I was a bit let down by the Monte Cristo. After finishing the waffle, I was content with the item but there was not much of a wow factor. Not sure I would give another try again since there are an abundant of food options in DC, but I do give props to the owners for their concept.

Sometimes when you dine out with co workers you take a chance, I did and it wasn’t good. After seeing all the hype of this place, I decided to have chicken n waffles. I was imagining this to have the same effect as Roscoes. Boy was I sadly mistaken): They had many options to dress your waffles from breakfast, sandwich, dessert or basic like I did. The service was great. No complaints. Lines were moving fast for lunch time rush. I was asked if I wanted siracha sauce for the chicken, I declined. I got a chipotle ranch sauce which wasn’t good. The cole slaw too bland. The chicken strips reminded of something I would order late night at a bar. I thought, I would get fried chicken with the bones and all. It was straight up breaded chicken strips. I didn’t see the menu. Maybe that’s a fail on my part for not doing that. The chicken was too breaded with panko crumbs with no seasoning and dry white meat. No juices flowing. As for the waffles itself. It’s good as soon as you get it. Nice and warm. Very light and airy with lightly dusted powder sugar along with syrup. Once the waffles sit, it doesn’t taste very good. I’m give this another try but I don’t recommend getting waffles with chicken strips.

It’s a constant source of disappointment to me that waffles haven’t caught on bigger in the US as a ubiquitous snack food the way they have in Belgium. Surely they’d eradicate this cupcake plague that’s befallen us for years. They’re so versatile, tasty in either savory or sweet form, good for any meal at any time of day. If Wicked Waffle is any indication, waffles could make some inroads, although there’s still work to be done. First off, a note on atmosphere. Anyplace near Farragut West is by necessity catering to a suit-and-tie lunch rush crowd, so walking in to a barrage of rap music with all the explicit lyrics unbleeped is a little jarring. There’s almost no seating, so maybe they assume you’ll be in and out before you really notice what’s coming over the speakers? This visit I was in the market for lunch rather than a snack, so I went savory, with a no-frills grilled cheese and bacon waffle. The cheese was nice and gooey and the bacon tasted like it came out of a frying pan at home, but the main event, the waffle itself, was a little crispier than I’d like. Still, it was tasty and hit the spot, although for over $ 9 with a can of soda, it’s probably not the best deal around. If you’re looking to shake things up for lunch and get out of your sandwich/salad/burrito rut, or just need a sweet pick-me-up late afternoon, this is a solid option, but not quite the harbinger of an impending waffle trend I had hoped for.

HOWISTHISPLACERATEDSOHIGHLY?!? Pardon the dramatics, but seriously. How can they call these waffles?! They’re super thin and airy. Needs to be more bread-y. You know what I mean? I ordered the one with prosciutto and it was bland tasting, which is so unfortunate cuz I was really excited about it. Bf ordered the one with fried chicken and it was better, but not by much. Honestly the waffles are a joke. The staff were not friendly. They didn’t say welcome and they didn’t smile at all. When we asked a question, they answered kind of rudely too. Also the place is tiny, which sucks because apparently lots of ppl come here so there’s a line & it gets crowded & only six people can eat inside. Sorry but y’all DC peeps need to come to California and get some Bruxies. Then you’ll know what a delicious waffle sandwich tastes like. One star for the music they play.

I’ve been wanting to try this place for a long time and I’d say it’s pretty good. I had the bacon cheese waffle off their savory menu. Very simple yet SOOO delicious! Nothing tastes more like breakfast than a fluffy waffle combined with cheese and addicting bacon. Fair price for the amount of food they give you too. I definitely want to come back to try the sweeter options they have. The only problem is the long line. I came on a weekday in the morning and the line was surprisingly long. I guess that means they’re definitely worth the visit! Also, I heated my left overs in the oven and the waffles became super crispy which made it taste even better. Wicked Waffles definitely has my approval!
