I’ve been to the sea burger several times and I love their chicken sub you can get as many toppings just about that you could want I have a boat close by so it’s within walking distance from the Metro as well as the marina you can’t go wrong with their fresh cut fries the atmosphere is good it’s convenient and they have outside seating

Well what can I say, I was a 5 Guys fanboy but… ya, this place is just as good, but it definitely excels in certain areas over 5 Guys. I ordered my burger the same I do when I go to 5 guys(Mayo, Ketchup, Mustard, Onions, and Jalapenos) and there is next to no difference between the two. They are both good. The fries are better here. Yea you get a huge ass portion at 5 Guys but they tend to be really greasy and most of the time, fairly under cooked(soggy). The fries here taste just as good and they are cooked right, every fry was crispy. Toppings for burgers, this place clearly has 5 Guys beat. This place has an insane amount of milk shake flavors to choose from. And the seating is much larger than 5 Guys.

So I ask if they have burger wraps and they say«yes of course» and then I get this!?! When I point out its a «salad» and not a wrap they tell me «that’s how we do wraps here» and offer no help or apology but rather back away from the counter as if it’s radioactive! The cook in the way back hears me and after 3 hesitations offers to wrap it but by now the idea of them reconfiguring it to «wrap» shape sounds like I will never eat today so I walk away. The lettuce was delicious, the meat OK, the bacon cold and chewy like day old bacon. Too bad but I won’t be back.

A little pricey but good. If you like a good old fashioned greasy burger and fries. This is the place. You can’t eat there every day but a nice treat…

Some people may not agree with this but you cant deny the truth! Trust me when I tell you that Z-Burger has a Top 3 best burger in the DMV area hands down! Welcoming and friendly environment with plenty of indoor seating, this place forces you to come back. The burgers? It is absolutely cooked to perfection. I typically order the bacon cheeseburger /single patty and it’s more than enough. The fries are also excellent, it’s definitely better than five guys in my opinion. Z-Burger’s fries are fresh, hot and have the perfect crisp; 5 guys = Oily. The onion rings arent my fave but it seems like people like them because I always hear them ordering it. Worth a try with half fries/half onion ring option. Oh by the way, they have 1 million flavors of milkshakes. If you’re in the area, it’s definitely worth stopping in and giving them a shot to earn your business. They’ve certainly earned mineZ.(see what I did there?)

I’ve come to z burger many times and love it, but recently the prices have skyrocketed for some reason. It’s unfortunate.

Excellent burgers. Not as good as Five Guys, but a much larger and more interesting selection of toppings. The fries are very good and portions are huge. The milkshakes make the place. More flavors than you could ever try and very good. Interesting space.

I arrived with 4 friends after a Nationals’ game at 9:22p to a dark and locked restaurant. The hours posted online and on the storefront lists a 10p closing time. I understand if we arrived 15 mins before close, but there’s no way you should close over 38 mins earlier than advertised. We will not be giving them another chance, especially with Station 4 being quite good and actually open next door.

Can’t tell you how the food is because I got here at 8:45 and they’re closed even though Unilocal and the sign on their door says they’re open til 10pm. Not sure how you close a burger place an hour and a half before your sign says you close…

One of the best burgers to try in town. It’s right across a Safeway and a metro so it’s easily accessible and you can go grocery shopping after, if you wanted. The neighborhood seems fun also. My best friend took me here and he just raved on about how amazing it is. I have to agree. I was not disappointed. There weren’t a lot of people there when we showed up, but the service wasn’t as quick as I anticipated. I was called for my burger but my shake wasn’t ready. Anyway, the burger was moist and it melted in my mouth. The shake was refreshing and light. I’m normally not a shake person but this was delicious and I finished all of it. I will definitely be back to bring my wife so she can try it.

My first experience with Z-Burger was from a food truck outside my office near Dupont. I was very excited and had high expectations for this full-service location by the southwest waterfront. They left out a lot of the toppings I requested on my bacon burger. It was clearly printed on the receipt, so the cashier evidently did her job properly, but the people assembling the burger dropped the ball big time. I did not receive my chipotle mayo, banana peppers, or green peppers. Also, the fried onion I requested was simply semi-cooked diced onions. Not sure if that’s customary but it wasn’t what I expected. I wasn’t asked how I would like my patty cooked, and when I received it, it was well-done to a crisp. The overcooked patty, coupled with the fact that I didn’t receive any sauce, made for a very dry burger. The fries were pretty lackluster — under-fried and somewhat soggy. A good fry, in my opinion, shouldn’t flop when you pick it up. I wasn’t asked if I would like seasoned fries or z-fries, so I don’t know what the difference is or the type that I received. The onion rings were crispy but unbearably oily. I literally had to squeeze the oil out and soak it up with a napkin. Even with that ridiculous ritual, I left feeling like a disgusting bucket of grease. Even the milkshake, supposedly a point of pride for the chain, was a bit disappointing. Texture was good, and it tasted fine, just nothing like the flavor I had ordered. I ordered the blueberry cheesecake and I tasted neither blueberry nor cheesecake. If you told me it was a vanilla milkshake I would’ve believed you. Don’t have any expectations above receiving frozen, sugary milk. I did enjoy the outdoor seating area in the front, which was preferably to the oily/smelly atmosphere indoors. If you don’t want to leave smelling like a greasy onion ring, either sit outside or do takeout.

I enjoy 5 guys burgers and fries but today I had a bacon cheeseburger with a half order of hand cut fries and hand dipped onion rings. Excellent food and the Z sauce for dipping is incredibly addicting. Can’t wait to try them again a they start to expand across the country.

I live near this place and it’s great to stop by on my way home from work! I hardly ever eat beef, so the first time I came here I tried the turkey burger and have loved it since. The fries are big, and are great for sharing(a medium has been able to feed 2 in my experience) and are just as good as five guys in my opinion. I definitely suggest getting seasoned fries. The toppings are always fresh and there are a lot of options. There aren’t a ton of places to eat in this area(yet) and this is a staple for me.

We were pleasantly surprised by Z-Burger. The burgers are fairly thick and flavorful. Plus you get to add all the free toppings that your little heart desires. We ordered the ½ fries ½ rings but they were out of onion rings. So we went with large fries. Now, I don’t know if this is the norm or a mistake, but we received two cups of fries. That was a heck of a lot of fries. Yet the fatties in us managed to inhale them all. Was it the best burger that we’ve ever eaten? No. But it sure was a tasty burger served with yummy fries. So yeah, I’m a fan. Next time, I have to try the onion rings and a milkshake!

This is just a review for their shakes. They advertise 75 flavors including interesting ones like pistachio and kiwi. So naturally I decided to go for one of those and got kiwi. Unfortunately it barely tasted like kiwi and i had to imagine the flavor more than taste it. The shake was also quite liquid and not as thick as shakes from other places. I would not come back for a shake but their fries and burgers are pretty good from what I can recall.

When you want a no-frills, make-it-yourself burger, stop by Z-burger. We stopped by here on a Saturday night and found it completely empty, which made us wonder whether it was indicative of the quality of the food… until we got our food. My fiancé and I both ordered the veggie burgers, topping it with our choices from the bevy of free toppings that are made available to customers. He ordered it «fully loaded», which allowed him to get all of the standard toppings, and I added the jalapeños from what I’m going to call the ‘special free toppings menu’, which allows you other toppings like different peppers, relish, and sauerkraut. The veggie burgers were hearty and smoky, and with our chosen toppings, our sandwiches were a lovely, delicious mess in our hands. Clearly, this isn’t a first date food, but it was tasty just the same. The ½ fries and ½ onion rings(renamed«frings» on our receipt) were perfect — the fries were fresh from the frier and perfectly salted, while the onion rings were thick-battered and crispy. We put a few in our sandwiches for some contrasting texture(though bear in mind that this is also listed as one of their premium toppings, available for an extra 75 cents). The food came out quickly and we were happy enough as we nommed our way through the burgers. We had few qualms with Z-burger, only two things, really. Firstly, the waste of paper packaging. We chose to dine in and our server were aware of this since they asked us when we ordered, but we found that everyone else who dined in received their orders in takeout bags as well. On top of that, our fries and onion rings were in ANOTHER separate bag. I can see how this would make for better transport for those carrying their order out, but it seemed superfluous for people who were simply taking their food ten steps away to a table. My second minor complaint was over the smell — we’re visiting DC for the weekend so we’re living out of our bags, and I found that whenever my fiancé put on the jacket he wore at Z-Burger, the smell of burgers and fries lingered unforgivingly on his clothes for days afterwards, as if to remind us of the gluttonous, caloric deluge in our system that night. Nevertheless, it was a solid meal and reminded us a lot of the laid-back, casual, and dependable Five Guys fare we’re accustomed to from our home city.

I’ve sworn off beef but will always make an exception for Z Burger. The customer service is always great here too. I’m not a milkshake fan, but will again make an exception for this place.

Take it from a Washingtonian, Z-Burger is the best burger choice in Washington, DC and the Z-Burger on 4th Street SW is the best Z-Burger in Washington, DC(compared to all the other ones). Superb hamburgers cooked to perfection, amazing seasoned fries, killer onion rings, delicious milk shakes and a Z Burger sauce that’s out of this world. Now, if they would just open a location in Logan.

If imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, then Five Guys should feel very flattered by Z-Burger. Not that that’s a bad thing, especially if you’re a fan of Five Guys, but it’s a shame they couldn’t forge their own distinct identity. With so many burger choices in DC, this one just doesn’t move the needle. The burger itself is tasty enough, with an impressive array of free toppings on offer to customize your greasy feast, although the bun is a little flimsy, and by balling the whole thing up in foil a la Five Guys it gets a little squished. The thicker fries are a little undercooked and mushy, but the smaller ones are fine. The milkshakes come in dozens of flavors but they’re a little thin, and for the price I’d expect them to be much bigger. I do like that this place has one of those fancy Coke machines that can make all sorts of flavor combinations. The main draw of this place is that it’s in an area with few quick takeout options, and it’s tasty and hits the spot when you need a burger, but there’s no reason to travel very far to get here. Any real burger connoisseur should look elsewhere.

Z Burger gave away almost $ 90,000 in food to furloughed federal employees. We already loved Z Burger for the food. But now we are going to go out of our way to eat here. We will never forget this generosity.
