I was there in October for a poetry festival. The burgers were fresh, juicy, and very tasty. The fries(and I believe they have at least a couple of differently seasoned types) tasted like they’d just cut the potatoes. I and a fellow poet enjoyed our meal immensely! But, a lot of these reviewers are missing the point as to why you go to Z-Burger. You go for the shakes and the concretes(a concrete is something thicker than your garden variety milkshake, is all I can tell you– you just have to try one for yourself). They have seemingly every flavor under the sun that you can put in a beverage. All I know is the next time I hit DC, I will make sure to visit again.

I only had the fries here and they were delicious! I would return to try a burger! This would be a great late night spot to grab something when you are done with the bars.

Came here on Saturday night with my husband to grab a quick dinner before meeting up with some friends at a bar down the street. I specifically requested BACON burgers for my husband and I, along with the condiments and toppings we wanted. Several minutes later we get our burgers and they are VEGGIE. My husband brought this to the cashier’s attention, who shrugged it off and said he heard veggie burger… which was very surprising considering that at normal food and service industries it’s protocol for wrong orders to be corrected. I do not like wasting food and because we were in a hurry to meet with a friends we didn’t make a big deal out of it. I like veggie burgers, sure. A few bites later we realize that the condiments are completely screwed up as well. The cashier guy was still mostly apathetic and offered no solution, seemed more interested in his phone. We finished our food and left there in a hurry but I was really unhappy about the service.

I purchased a groupon for this place about two weeks ago and finally made it over with my mom today. After I placed my order and tried to use my groupon, the cashier told me that they were no longer accepting them. I tried to explain to her that you can’t just decide whether or not you’re taking a groupon… I paid for a deal for your restaurant, and you cannot retroactively null that deal. She still refused to accept it. I asked for a manager, and was told he wasn’t there. I will be going back in to argue as soon as I get a chance, but I’m pretty livid that I wasted $ 20 on a groupon that they won’t accept. Nevermind that its illegal for them to do that…

Z-Burger is a local DC burger chain that is supposedly also one of Bill Clinton’s favorite burger joint. They offer hand-crafted burgers, hot dogs, cheesesteaks, vegetarian options(grilled cheese and veggie burgers), fries(Z-style or seasoned), onion rings, and handspun milkshakes. I tried their Bacon Cheeseburger with their standard toppings(which included mayo, lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, fried onions, sauteed mushrooms, ketchup, and mustard) and their ½ and ½(french fries and onion rings). The burger itself was okay, but I was a fan of their onion rings, as they were really crispy and delicious! They also have a food truck, so you can catch their locations on their site. The staff were a little stand-offish, and the place was a little grimey and not well-kept. I’d like to come back and try out their cheesesteaks and get more of those rings! Limited street parking off of Wisconsin. +onion rings! +food truck available

This place was has very friendly staff, however they didn’t have ketchup or ice. Also it was very unclean. The food was average, fries under cooked burger fell apart.

The food here is the epitome of BORING. I got the Philly cheesesteak and my girlfriend got the turkey burger. Apparently all that comes with the Philly cheesesteak is just that… steak and cheese. The bread was a plain thin bread roll that would compare to the sub rolls at Chinese restaurants. No taste whatsoever to both the cheesesteak and the turkey burger. The fries are also bland and oily. Put it this way, my favorite thing there was the Sprite fountain drink. Save your money and keep walking past this Z-Burger.

We couldn’t help but compare to another burger place with similar menu. Although I think sizes here are bigger o so big. But! In here they have 75 flavors of milkshake which oh they’re good. So only stars cause of the milkshakes

Super unfriendly Afghani guy at register kills the fun of burgers and shakes. Dirtier than other Ž burgers. Avoid.

Good spot for a late night bite. On Friday nights, they’re open until 3:30 am. Philly Cheesesteak sandwich is good and so is the chicken cheesesteak. Burgers are comparable to Five Guys burgers. The fries are extra filling as they give you a huge portion, even for a small. They have a huge selection of shakes, but I haven’t tried one yet. There is plenty of seating here, but not for large groups.

It’s not a large franchise, which is cool. However, the quality of the burger and fries is just lacking. It’s an interesting burger joint, but the food is not that good.

Came here at 3:00am on a Saturday night. It was everything I wanted at the time. Got to pick the toppings on my burger, and also ordered the onion rings. My boyfriend said his burger was«dry,» but honestly, I ate my burger so fast I didn’t even notice. We waited maybe 10 minutes to get our food and sat at the stools along the wall. As we were leaving, the place became packed with a line almost out the door, so it looks like they can get pretty busy right before closing.

Terrible. I was so disappointed, especially because I love the one in tenley town. The fries were soggy and old and the chicken cheesesteak barely had any fillings in it and tasted funny too. Their customer service was terrible too. After messing our order up, they came over and rudely sprayed cleaner on the table where we were sitting at and had our stuff on. They need to get some pointers from the z burger in tenley town.

The service on Sunday, September 7, 2014 was very good. Both young ladies were helpful and courteous. The food was good. I would have preferred a hotter veggie burger, but the portion size of my veggie and the family’s meat burgers were more than adequate. The space is small and the three in my family weren’t comfortable with the stationary stools in the front window. They did have stools that you can move in the back, and maybe 4 or 5 tables for seating. The Z Burger in Tenley Town is bigger, so if you are going with a group, or want to hang out comfortably, try that one instead.

I was feeling depressed about the futility of life and career, so I told mah lady to meet me at Z burger. At first blush, it looks and seems like a Five-Guys sort of restaurant, and it is. You go, order what kind of burger you want(single, double, cheese, BACON?, etc.) and add your toppings. You can also get fries and beer battered onion rings. The burgers, in my opinion, were far better than Five Guys, had more toppings and were juicier. The regular size fry easily feeds two, and don’t even think about the large onion rings — there are about 20(or more) rings in the bag, and the rings are thickly battered and really, really, big. It’s a herculean effort to eat them all and deal with the resulting shame of your food baby. The dude bros shrieking about whatever children’s game was on the television was a bit of a turn-off, but, I guess the world needs stupid people too. Finally, people, don’t come here for principled, field-to-fork, organic, vegan/vegetarian, or morally-healthy food. It’s greasy, cheesy, and potentially disgusting(depending on how sanctimonious you are), but if you need a fatty hug and a meal without judgment, then Z-burger will fit the bill. Did not try the milkshakes, will have to go back for that.

Came here for the post bar munchies. Packed as always with wasted youngins. My burger was delicious but you could have served me anything at that point and I would have been happy. The only disappointment is waking up realizing you payed 7 $ for a drunk half wasted cheeseburger when I could have been at McDonalds.

2.75 stars. I usually DONOT order fast food and usually hate myself when I do. So it is with pride I can say, this place deserves a 3. By fast food standards, it is a 5, even(those standards are very low however. But just the same, this is one of the best fast food burgers I have had. Is it better than any of the sit down burger joints I have been? No. But it beats any other chain. They put on tons of toppings of your choice with no extra charge and the fries are crispy and warm. If you want something fast, you can not do much better. Not as pricy as the over rated food bar across the street in whole foods. Of course if you have the time, there are obviously tons of better places to eat with better quality food/ingredients. In a pinch, this is a great choice however.

What can I say about Z-Burger?! Well, its a staple of the Tenleytown neighborhood, and they almost always have a great promotion going on. I’ve eaten here dozens of times, and I“m pretty sure i’ve never paid full price for my meal. 25 cent shakes, free burgers if the redskins make the playoffs, $ 1 burgers if you vote in the presidential election, the list goes on. I’ve also had several free meals courtesy of the crew at Z-burger since I work down the street and they really like to bring us free food from time to time! I’m a sucker for the shakes… I sometimes opt to have one for dinner(calorie wise, its dinner… TRUSTME!) I’m actually also a big fan of their veggie burgers… I usually opt for that over a regular burger. The fries are also greasy and delicious! Its not healthy, but its good… and if you play it right, its very friendly on your wallet!
