Mendoza’s

Excellent food! This is the only place around that sells tortas (Mexican sandwiches)! My son who hates rice and beans cannot get enough of theirs. I have no idea what they put in it but my son could eat double servings of just that! Great little spot. Homemade tamales and mole sauces, too.

We tried it yesterday and we’re a little surprised. It’s a small place. The menu was minimal, but that’s because they do not list 19 different combos. They list each option individually; then you build your own. My wife picked a taco and another side as her combo. I had the burrito traditional. It was delicious with verde sauce. We will be back when in Washington.

The food was good, although they were out of what I really wanted. The owner seemed a bit uncomfortable as a server. He was a little too talkative and seemed to hover a bit too much. I’ll chalk that up to unbridled enthusiasm. Soda is just in cans. No refills. Iced tea is in cans too. Soda was served warm with very little ice. The menus look a little tacky and I don’t like having the ladies toilet in full view when you come in the door. I would not recommend this place for atmosphere. Hopefully their food can carry them through. Just don’t be out of stuff. If you have a lunch special, it stands to reason you will use more of that item, but don’t short the dinner crowd due to lack of planning. All these things can be fixed in time. Hopefully they won’t wait too long.
