I accidentally waited a bit long to book a room for the 6 Hours of the Glen. Hotel searches were trying to send me twenty-plus miles away from the track, so I started calling around bed and breakfasts and smaller places that weren’t likely to be listed by the big travel sites. Echoes of the Glen definitely proved one thing: never rule out a B&B! We couldn’t have asked for better hosts. Part of the reason I love Watkins Glen is because the whole town seems to embrace the track. Everyone staying at Echoes that weekend had to be at the track super early, so the hosts bumped up breakfast time accordingly. The hosts even gave everyone a heads-up that they were heading over to watch some of the 6 Hour, too. For the same price, I could’ve stayed twenty miles away, not gotten an awesome home-cooked breakfast(plus cookies and other snacks!), and had a nightmare commute in all weekend, or – yeah, this was way, way better. The state park is just down the street, and it’s incredible. Downtown, too, has an incredible bunch of great local restaurants and other shops just down the road. Also nearby were the International Motor Racing Research Center’s archives, which had a wealth of things to nerd out to(I even found something I’d written about my terrible 944!). The race track is almost a straight shot up the hill. Pretty much everything you’d want to do in Watkins Glen is very, very close. Our room was clean, well taken care of, and comfortable. It had its own A/C unit and private bathroom. The common spaces are bright and inviting. Prices were extremely reasonable. This was a work weekend for me, so the B&B had one crucial piece of kit: wireless internet! I could quietly type away in the living room while everyone else got some shut-eye. As the other person mentioned, there are pets, but they’re kept out of the guest rooms. I hardly saw them the whole time I was there. I really don’t have enough good things to say about this place. It’s definitely on my short list of places to stay whenever I go back up there again.

Barb and Tom are really friendly and down to earth people. My favorite resident at echos of the glen… is Teddy the cat. Super sweet gray short hair! The other kitty Rita was a sweetie to. There is a dog smokie to but he was outside or down stairs most of the time. Barb keeps the pets out of the guest rooms and asks her guests do as well. Although it was hard to resist Teddy who would have come in if we’d have let him. The room we stayed in, the Chardonnay room was well priced for the area and the bed was comfortable. The shower had great water pressure. My one suggestion is a light for the closet… I kept trying to turn one on its pretty dark. My one let down was the sky light is in the bathroom not over the bed like I was hoping for. Over all though the room is very nice. breakfast was amazing! Barb is a wonderful cook! You can walk to Watkins Glen state park which is a huge plus. This B & B is for down to earth friendly people who love animals and comfort… its not about luxury its about being comfortable and feeling relaxed at echos of the glen!
