Went for breakfast on a Sunday. Place was busy, but got sat in just a few minutes. Server was promt and friendly, after the food was served I asked for some extra jelly as there was no more strawberry jelly on the table, i never saw her again until she dropped the check. Asked a busperson for some as well and never saw him again either. Food was served hot and tasted good, but took almost to 30 minutes to come out of the kitchen. Don’t think an omelet, and an pankake with eggs and bacon breakfast should take that long. There was nothing special or different that would get me back unless I had a lot of time to kill for a mediocre breakfast

We went there for breakfast before starting the last portion of the Madison to Chicago Ragnar relay. It was absolute awesome(except that one of the 2 toilets in the ladies room was out of order). Only 5 minutes from the van exchange, too! Great place for a hearty breakfast…

I am going to preface this review by pointing out that my issue is with the delivery process only. This morning I called in to place an order for delivery as I am the only person at work today and cannot leave. When I asked how one of the items on the menu was cooked it seemed as though NOONE i spoke to was able to provide me with an answer. Finally I placed my order and was told that my food would«arrive within the hour» okay, thats fine. What is NOT fine is that my food took literally 1Hour and 45Minutes to get to me. By that time my shrimp were cold and stale and much smaller than I had anticipated. When I called the store to check on my food as i had at this point already been waiting an hour and a half they gave me the run around. No one seems to know what to do around there and when I finally asked to speak with the manager, the person on the other end of the phone sounded like an adolescent teenage male who simply said im sorry. Now, im not looking for handouts but how about more professionalism? Perhaps«my apologies, let me look into that for you».

I’m in town for my husbands Navy Boot Camp graduation and we decided to order in when we got back to our hotel room. We ordered a cheese pizza, chicken caesar salad and hot wings. We were both HIGHLY disappointed. Everything we ordered was COLDCOLDCOLD! We even had to microwave the pizza to heat it up in order to get it down! $ 41 wasted because we could not bring ourselves to finish the meal. We ended up deciding on ordering Chinese. How does this place maintain business? Poor quality and poor customer service. If you are in town for any reason or specifically Navy Boot Camp Grad, do not waste your time and money with this place!

Terrible food. Took an hour longer than stated to deliver my food. My food was cold, and looked/tasted like a frozen dinner. Seriously grossed out.

I’ve only had breakfast here so can’t comment on their other food but my go-to selections are the pancakes which are the best in lake county(lots of butter so if your watching your cholesterol maybe not your best bet) and the omelets which are huge and very reasonably priced. If you get the crepes ask for plain fruit and whip cream instead of the saucy stuff which is runny and too sweet. Makes the crepes soggy. Service? Good for a 24hr diner. If you frequently dine at Michelin list establishments, reset your expectations.

The food was delicious! I had the special, beef short ribs and they were very good! I also enjoyed the dinner salad with creamy garlic dressing. My husband’s co-worker had recommended this place and we will be back! Our waiter was so polite and came by our table often. Helen & Mike Tobin

It was late, and I hadn’t prepared dinner. I’ve been wanting to try Gojo’s for some too. My first time here certainly will not be my last. The dinner salad was standard fare but we’ll done, with plenty of shredded carrots. Creamy Garlic dressing made it special. The daily special was Broasted Chicken with a Belgian Waffle. Potato choice was broasted as well. The chicken was some of the best broasted that I’ve ever had, and same goes for the potatoes. Service was excellent and the price was reasonable. I’ll be back.

GREAT service! I’m giving it 5 stars mostly for the kind and friendly service. Also, the portions are more than generous. I was given additional sides when I finished what I had, without asking! The prices are overall very low for the portions as well. Is it the best burger you can find anywhere? No. Best pancakes? Maybe! Either way I’ll be back.

I was there last week with my husband(on a Thursday night 3⁄6), as we were staying next door at the Quality Inn, and in town strictly for our son’s Navy graduation at Great Lakes the next day. We were exhausted after traveling all day and we decided to eat here, so we would not have to drive any where else. We had a nice man wait on us, who was more than attentive. I ordered some vegetarian pasta dish, which actually considering this is not an Italian restaurant, or even an upscale restaurant, was pretty good. I was hungry!!! I had not eaten for the better part of the day. We left our home in Los Angeles at 6 a.m. PST and arrived at this restaurant probably 8 p.m. CST, or later. My husband ordered another entrée, but I cannot remember what he got. We were offered rolls(each individually wrapped in cellophane), which were just fine, especially if you are starving. I got plenty of coffee, not the best, not the worst, but it was coffee and it was hot and felt good to drink. Reasonable food for a coffee shop/diner, that does not appear to be a national chain restaurant. I did notice the diverse menu, quite a lot of offerings, and somewhat ethnic. I wonder where the owner family is from? Nice people. Our waiter was given a hefty tip, he was really great. Would we visit again? If we ever had a reason to be in Great Lakes again, then yes. But I do not see us visiting the area, as we have only one Navy-bound child, who left for Pensacola during our stay. Other than that, there would be no reason to ever visit the region again.(so very different from the suburbs of Los Angeles in every way!). Oh, we did walk over again, the next night(Friday 3⁄7) to get some chocolate cake. I had a hankering for something sweet. So we were greeted by a really sweet and bubbly young waitress, who was more than happy to get us 2 pieces of cake and a cup of coffee to go. We also had light conversation with a man handling the register; he was pretty friendly too. The cake was 4 out of 5 stars perhaps. Nice place for what it is, a local diner, serving locals and hungry Navy families!

Wow, reviews are all over the place. Mine is not the most comprehensive breakdown, because we stopped in at 9 p.m. for coffee and pie, so I can’t speak to the general food offerings. What I CAN speak to is the atmosphere. I’m a diner patron from way-way back, having grown up in a tiny farm town that had exactly one 24-hour place, run by the same Albanian family for decades. I don’t know how they ended up stranded in the cornfields of northern IL, but it worked for them, and I grew up loving a place that, despite permanently grungy floor tiles, cracked vinyl stools, chipped mugs, and a jukebox prominently featuring Glenn Fry’s «The Heat is On» for most of the 80s and 90s, served up solid breakfast-all-day, gyros that won over even the most skeptical pork-sausage-and-potatoes-loving grumpy Germanic farmer, and featured kind-if-weary waitresses(don’t call ‘em servers) that know your name. So, I come in with a soft spot for this kind of joint. My take, based on my limited order… 1. Place is BRIGHT, nicely appointed as diners go, and appeared clean. The girl seating us also waited on us, and was incredibly friendly and sweet. They have military pics up everywhere in the entryway, something my Navy guy fiancé noticed right away, naturally. 2. The menu is HUUUUUGE. While this can sometimes mean a place is spread too thin and isn’t going to do great on all their offerings, we were intrigued for next time. 3. The pie(cherry, warmed, whipped cream for me, ice cream for him) was solid. At diners, you can’t count on pie in the pie case being made in-house, and I don’t know whether this was or not, but whoever made it didn’t use tinny, canned cherry topping as a filling, and the crust was more flavorful than standard pre-made. I had low expectations for diner pie, which isn’t always that great, but this was tasty, for sure. 4. The place was reasonably hopping for a weekday evening, old regulars at the counter reading the paper, people sprinkled throughout the booths for a late meal, or lingering over evening coffee with a friend, a few tables of teenagers chattering non-obnoxiously. Our service was quick, even though she had to brew a fresh pot of decaf for my fiancé. Granted, it doesn’t take long to plate and heat up pie, but still, prompt and friendly service. Definitely will go back and try out the meal offerings!

Only had about 45 minutes to get my brother back to base(RTC). Wait staff was attentive to our needs, food came quick. Food was well presented, no complaints. 4 stars out of 5 is due to the individually wrapped rolls. Thats a first for me, no one ate the rolls as we were all thrown off by the presentation… Overall a good experience.

Average food for this type of diner, but the service is deplorable. Expect a 20 min + wait time if they are even a little busy and then top that off with no apology or explanation as to what the problem was. With so many dining options in the area, spend your money elsewhere!

Meh. It’s hard to mess up breakfast so when a diner does, that’s the noose they hang themselves with. Coffee is terrible, potatoes in the skillet are soggy. One of those on-the-fly places that I would never eat at again. Service was friendly though.

We had a weekend with our son after his graduation from Navy boot camp. We had breakfast Sunday morning at Gojos. It was perfect! Great food. Great service. Pricier than I would have liked(a side of corned beef was almost $ 5). And I was happy to have met the owner. Very authentic experience.

After living here in Illinois for 8 months I have ate at many diners including; full moon café, paragon, Denny’s, and ihop, and this has been by far the best. The waitress was new but polite and the gravy was a bit too floury but the food was excellent, specifically the breakfast. The serving sizes are large and filling. And they do have a country fried steak breakfast it just isn’t on the menu($ 8.75, –and very filling). The military discount was appreciated as well, I’ll be going back again soon.

Horrible horrible horrible food! Save your money, and don’t bother. I ordered two gyros dinners, and a shrimp appetizer. The first delivery had one dinner, one soup, two rolls and the shrimp. I called and told them they forgot the second dinner. Twenty minutes later I received the second dinner, no soup. The second dinner was as cold and soggy as the first. The food was soggy, overpriced and tasteless. Never again, yuck! I wish I could give this place negative stars! I spoke to grub hub, and they offered to call the restaurant for a refund. They gave me 10% back…$ 3.00, big deal! Grub hub was nice enough to give me a $ 10 gift card.

This is one of those places that’s just…“OK”. The food is warm and filling, the service is… OK…the atmosphere is OK. There was nothing really wrong with any of it, but there wasn’t anything above average for it, either. It was quick and convenient when we were on the road, and wanted something more than fast food. But, next time through, we’ll try someplace else.
