Ugh, definitely my worst experience with a Subway! #1 reason is for the extremely poor customer service. We arrived around 8pm on a weekend for a quick bite after a long work day, so the store was empty except for one young employee and me and my family. My dad has never been to a Subway before, but the employee never offered to explain how it works and just looked at him like he was stupid as she slowly handled our food with her 2 inch fake nails. Fortunately, she used gloves! I’ll probably eat at a Subway again, but I will NEVER come back to this location.

I don’t even want to give this experience one star. Absolute worst customer service I have ever received anywhere. I have worked in a restaurant for 5 years so I am not picky about customer service but this was unacceptable. I came to the store on 12⁄23 at 9:54p. I was aware the store closes at 10 but I was out and about and wanted a sandwich and thought I could sneak in quick. I know this is annoying for people in the food service industry because they were probably all cleaned up– but I am still a paying customer and that is still their job. One of the employees, I believe her name was Kaleah or something. She was mopping in front of the door and I had to step over the mop in order to get in the door because she did not have the courtesy to move to the side as I walked in. As I stepped over her mop I said«excuse me sorry». Then she turned to the gentleman behind the counter(I did not catch his name) and said«I’m sorry». She was apologizing to him, the other employee, that I walked in the door while the store was still open! While at the counter, I asked for a flatbread sandwich. The man said«we are out of flatbreads» but then I noticed a full bag of flatbreads right on the counter. So I pointed that out. It must have been that it was a new bag so he didn’t want to open it– so I even said I’ll just have something else if you don’t want to open the bag. He said he didn’t see it. I understand it was probably inconvenient to them that I walked in close to closing time. But I was out the door before 10 and technically being open til 10 means serving food til 10, then you close. Not lights off and out the door at 10 on the dot. These employees need to learn how to treat customers.

They really messed this up. The employees rung us up for an extra sub and then couldn’t void the transaction or refund us for the sub. We were given no options and given a blank stare from both employees working. We suggested they call the supervisor or manager, so they did. Now we’re told to call back in the morning to speak to the supervisor who gets in at 7. So now Subway gets to keep my money overnight at least. That’s just wrong. Based on other recent reviews, it sounds like this Subway has a management problem.

Extremely poor customer service. Almost to the point of comedy. I walked in to three young women basically being paid to socialize. They couldn’t be bothered to greet me or any of the other customers who entered after me, make the food with any attention to detail or care whatsoever(had to wait until they finished speaking each time I asked for an ingredient and had to repeat myself several times), forced to listen to immature and inappropriate chatter while waiting over 12 minutes for 2 sandwiches, watched a worker enter from the back room eating and proceeded to dust off her hands and handle my food(no washing of hands required I guess?) and upon check out, the third girl snorted at my complaint of poor customer service and walked away. While I bagged my own sandwiches as the cashier walked away without doing it, the other two proceeded to mimic my complaint. Not an apology, not any sense of wrongdoing, just plain disrespect towards a paying customer. There are several Subways near me, I won’t be back to this one. If they were under my employ, all three would have been fired.

There was a bug flying around in the glass where the cookies were. I was trying to help them get it out and got barked at. Gross. And super rude.

Do you remember when you were a kid and your dad wasn’t going to home for dinner? Your mom would make something he didn’t like such as tacos, or in my case, we would get to have pizza. My dad never considered pizza a proper meal for the family. Maybe because we are of German descent, or maybe he had something against Italians, we’ll never know, he’s gone now. We’ll, Subway is like that for me now. My wife is not a fan for some reason and refuses to eat here. I’ll come here when she’s out of town. I love some of the new things on their menu. I greatly prefer Subway to Cousin’s, if I must have a chain-driven sub. I always take my food to go. There might have been a few crack heads in here the first few times I visited years ago, plus it’s 6 blocks from my house. I get the impression that many of the workers here didn’t get their preferred job working at 5 Guys, so thusly, they begrudgingly work here. And, it shows. Plus, their parking lot sucks.

I usually am not one to eat fast food, but we had a giftcard that was given us. Combine that with it being a few days before payday and not having any money, and you get the poor decision to eat Subway. Allow me to throw in a disclosure here quick: I worked at a Subway many years ago in highschool. I assume their protocol is still the same. They are only allowed to put so many vegetables on a six inch, and so many on a footlong. God forbid someone would like to eat some prepackaged bagged vegetables with their hard, stale bread.(3 peppers per six inch, six per footlong.” That shit cray, as they say. The not amused staff was pissed off that it was busy. I detected this based on the fact that no one spoke above a muffled mumble at the floor. I watched a guy itch his face, WITHHISGLOVESON, and then proceed to pull sandwiches from the toaster. Boyfriend got a footlong veggie, I got a six inch meatball. They were okay, for what they were. I got a broccoli soup. They ever so generously filled it only halfway, gave me no crackers, and the best part was that it was cold. Not lukewarm, but cold. We didn’t complain because: A. They were all teenagers like likely wouldn’t have reported it to the manager. B. It was«free» on our giftcard, so we didn’t spend money. C. What will they do? Give us a coupon for next time? No thank you. I am grossly reminded why I don’t eat low quality, careless food.

FIVEFIVEDOLLARFOOOOTLOOOONG. If I ever met the person who wrote this jingle I’d punch them square in the wiener. The song gets stuck in my head for days and I find myself eating at Subway more often. This Subway has become my kitchen away from home as I unpack after moving. The store is bright and clean and it doesn’t have bars on the windows(see McDonald’s). The Meatball Marina has been my sandwich of choice lately despite suspecting there’s lean finely textured beef(pink slime) lurking in the meatballs. TIP: The parking lot has a second entrance on 67th Street so catching a stoplight is an easy way to turn West onto North Avenue.
