One star for the super sweet girls behind the counter. Second star for a pretty decent bagel and cream cheese. Unfortunately, this is the 2nd time the iced coffee tastes like Windex. I don’t think there’s actual cleaning product in my drink, I just think it’s really, really awful coffee. Atmosphere is not that nice — appears closed from the outside. Hot and could be cleaner on the inside. Convenient to shopping so worth an occasional stop for a bagel(and apple juice)!

Okay, this place stinks. Modern Bagel(who was previously in the same location) made very good bagels, but you had to get there REAL early for any sort of selection. Which, might have been their downfall… because no one wants to get up at 7:39 on a Saturday morning to get a bagel. With that being said, the new Stein Bagel still can’t keep up with demand. Only difference is Stein Bagels are H-O-R-R-I-B-L-E! They don’t have the traditional puffy rise of a good bagel. They are dry and taste like bread more than bagel. You can fit at least three fingers inside the hole of their bagels, which is a no-no! One should barely be able to fit a butter knife inside the hole of a bagel. The sesame, poppy, everything, garlic, onion, bagels are lacking a decent amount of ‘toppings’ as well. The employees aren’t very energetic, either. Would NEVER go back.

Stopped in for lunch today. Used to be Modern Bagel. Gal at the counter told me that the ownership changed sometime in 2013. I guess I don’t stop by very often. I had a Chicken Caesar wrap which was good but nothing special. Wraps come with your choice of a side — either coleslaw or macaroni salad. I had the macaroni salad which was fine. With a Snapple it came to just under $ 9.00. Another reviewer commented that they no longer offered Taylor Ham — that was a mistake — I had a Taylor ham sandwich on my second visit. I see another Steins bagels listed in Montvale; but I don’t know if they are related.

We had a great experience here — showed up at the end of the day and got a great deal on a dozen bagels, plus had a few more thrown in for free! I live in CA where the bagels are hardly bagels, so now I get to be the hero and bring back treats for everyone! Very friendly staff who are proud of their craft. I’ll definitely go back next time I’m in town.

They did change owners within one week since I went last. Sorry but it’s a change for worse. Credit card machine did not work. They do not sell Taylor ham. One girl running around. Right now as it is I will not be returning here. Doesn’t work for me. Good luck to whoever else goes. Only thing we walked out with is chicken salad on a multigrain bagel. Hopes are not high. Didn’t seem to know what was going on
