Very friendly server, great service, great food! We had the French onion soup, Caesar salad, Reuben sandwich and Ribeye Philly sandwich for lunch. The homemade chips were awesome. Everything was great! Can’t wait to come back for dinner!

Friends recommend the steak here frequently, so when my husband’s birthday came went decided to give this place a go. I had made reservations as recommended, but since it was a week day it was not really necessary. I had the Shepherds Pie special and soup of the day Tomato bisque. Both were out of this world delicious! I hope they put both on the regular menu! Love this place!

Food: 5⁄5 — The burger was great. We ordered it medium rare and it was prefect. The black eye pea burger was ordered at our table. The vegetarian at the table was extremely impressed with her meal. The cap ribeye was perfect. The side salad had a great champagne vinaigrette dressing that was amazing. Also, the voodoo pasta and bread pudding dressing is a must have. Service & ownership: 5⁄5 everyone in the bar was Helpful and engaged. Albert and the owner of the bar were awesome! Cleanliness & facilities: very clean bathroom. Impressive! We stumbled across this gem after a few days of long hikes in the smoky mountains. Everything was done with great attention to detail. It has the perfect menu with a range of price and everything is prepared perfectly. We all ordered a range of Appetizers, entrees, desserts and drinks. Everyone at our table left very impressed. Would recommend time and time again.

We had an anniversary dinner there and were surprised that only 2 – 3 other tables were occupied. We had a disappointing meal(one was cold and we couldn’t get our waitresses attention), my steak was tough, bread pudding(we let them know that the 4 of us in our party were both couples celebrating our anniversaries) that we intended to share was so small we needed another… and we live here full time and have eaten there(usually lunch) in winter, but will probably not go back.

Delicious! Steaks cooked perfect to order. I started with a Caesar salad. Yum! Flavorful with lots of Parmesan that I still want more of. Even the coffee was exceptional. The staff was attentive and professional. Atmosphere was elegantly casual. The kind of place with enough sophistication for date night but without the pretentious attitude. Nice and inviting. Each bite better than the next. Each course a surprising delight of flavor. You can tell these people love what they do. I will be back. Glad to have a restaurant like this nearby without having to drive to Asheville.

So we weren’t sure there was going to be a restaurant to compete with our other favorite in Waynesville(see our other reviews). Bourbon Barrel Beef and Ale is another one we’ll make it a point to come back to! First the décor: The Rustic casual environment is both inviting and wonderfully unassuming. No loud dining area TV’s to detract from the excellent food and Company — just a couple tucked into the bar. Despite the offseason Monday evening we visited, the clientele filled the place and was quite lively. I ordered the House Salad with mixed greens, herbs, sunflower/craisin charoset, clementine, & red onion. I was intrigued by the charoset, truth be told. I chose the bleu cheese salad as recommended. I must say, this was an amazing, monster salad. It’s bleu cheese dressing was not very bold, but where I would usually prefer the sharper bleu cheese taste their version worked well with the textures and flavors of the other ingredients. Fresh baked bread at the table. We got a second helping even though we ‘count carbs.’ Need we say more? I ordered the Spinalis Of Ribeye and my wife ordered the Eggplant Crêpe. I asked my wife to rate her dish on a scale of 1 to 10, and she just said, «Wow.» As for the steak, I am a steak SNOB, categorizing more than 90% of the steaks I’ve been served as ‘disappointing’ either in quality, cut, preparation, or any combination thereof. I have sampled steaks in major ‘big name’ steak houses, and BBB&A — all I can say is you got me. I have to admit that your Ribeye is one of the best I have been served in 50 years. Like I said, we’re making it a point to come back. I hate it when folks use the old ‘for the price,’ reference for restaurants, so I don’t, because the meal we were served at BBB&A would have been EXTRAORDINARY, delicious meal at ANY price. The fact that five star cuisine and service cost a third of what you’d pay inside any city is yet another bonus. If you’re visiting the Asheville area and want to take a side-tour into the mountains for thirty minutes or so, you will remember Waynesville as the quaint NC town where you had an extraordinary meal.

The food is very good as well as the service. My steak was cooked medium when I ordered med– rare but I ate it because it tasted so good. Next time I will order it rare. This is one of the best meals I have had in The Waynesville area and I plan to return.

Wow, what an amazing experience! Incredible french onion soup, and the double cut pork chop and crab cakes we ordered were out of this world. There’s a new young chef named Matthew that is really working some magic in the kitchen. You need to check this place out! We will be back.

We ate lunch here by default… And we were not disappointed. Light lunch, I had house salad with vinaigrette dressing; Hubby had a «Pop’s Old Fashioned» hamburger with no bun and a Caesar salad… Then they gave us a nice taste of their«tomato jam» … It was savory! Excellent, I did cheat and have it on a couple of small pieces of French bread… yummy… THEN. My husband did the unthinkable… He was lured with«Blood Orange Bread Pudding with a Pear glaze» … It Was a generously huge portion, served with a dip of French vanilla… And yes! He ate the whole thing! Our waitress was personable and very attentive… just like Gen. McArthur WE Shall return… We really will… Enjoyed it very much.

What an amazing dining experience! We stopped in without reservations and didn’t mind at all waiting at the bar for a while because the locals were so amazing to hang out with a while. We could have got a table but a very large party, an a Capella group came in right before us, but even sitting at the bar was pleasurable with Stephen, the popular local and Coty our bartender who was so friendly and personable … and she knew the menu very well. We ordered the house special for the night, a chicken and andoulle sausage pasta that was to die for … and I ordered the best filet mignon I’ve ever had in my life! The side grilled root veggies and onions were so good I cleaned my plate and would have ate more if I wasn’t so stuffed! The bar chatter was fun … lots of laughter and happy comments about the drinks and food! Coty was great at keeping everyone happy! I can’t wait to return!!!

We stopped because of the great Unilocal review. The décor was a blend rustic and eclectic. We were asked if we had a reservation and replied we did not. If you go on a Friday or Saturday I guess I’d recommend reservations. We were seated at the bar and ate there even though there were empty tables throughout our dinner. We sat at the bar and had some drinks while we waited for our order to be taken. We had been told that it would be a while because a big party had just ordered. I have NO problem with that(being told ahead of time). We enjoyed talking with Coty the bartender and she took our order after 15 – 20 minutes. We had the Cajun pasta w/andouille sausage and chicken as well as the filet mignon. Both arrived in a timely manner and had a great presentation. The filet had a great char but was perfect medium on the inside. The pasta was cooked perfectly and the cajun sauce was a great compliment the the sausage and chicken. Everybody was VERY friendly and the atmosphere was great. As we were eating, the large group(which must have been a choral group) broke out in a capella song. They were GREAT and were a wonderful surprise. I would definitely recommend eating here to my friends.

I live in Maryland now, however I once lived in Haywood County, NC. I met my childhood friends here for lunch. One of my friends helped design the interior, so of course I thought that was fabulous! The lunch menu was filled with various sandwiches and salads. We all got French Onion soup and Grown Up Grilled Cheese. The soup was really excellent; cheesy with just the right amount of bread, broth, and onions. The grilled cheese was not quite melted enough for me. It probably could have used some additional cooking time. hence lowering my review by a star. I think however this is a nice little local place for lunch. Waynesville/Hazelwood needed something new.
