Great tamales and fast service. Sometimes they are out of certain ones. The pork ones seems to go fast. I get a bunch and freeze some if they make the ride home

Damn good tamales! 1st visit today while waiting for my friend(who could not find their way out of a wet paper sack) I gave her the CVS/Exxon landmark and settled on sonic for lunch since it’s behind the Exxon. While driving around to the sonic I saw Alamo Tamales. Now we’re talking! Screw corn dogs for lunch. Our vet clinic used to have a tamale lady who came every Tuesday. She died :’-(So for years I have searched for a new Tamale place. Now I have a new favorite place to stuff my fat face! Be sure to get the handmade tamales they are made with love.

I would give 0 stars if I could. Just tried to order through Grub Hub. After waiting 20 minutes past the time of arrival, I called Alamo to see if the driver was just running late or needed the address again. She said my order never came through and that she was having this problem with another customer. She said she would call grub hub on my behalf. I was disconnected with her on the phone and after calling back 5 times they finally answered. She said she had been on the other line with grub hub and that she cancelled the order. I asked her if I could just reorder through her. She was confused. I tried to explain but she just kept talking about grub hub. I told her i understand that the order didn’t go through, I would deal with that later, can i order through them. She didn’t understand I guess and just kept talking about the previous order. She sounded like a very young girl possibly still in school. I just told her never mind and hung up. Grub hub called me and said the restaurant canceled the order and this was a courtesy call saying I would be refunded. I told her the confusion and instead or refunding, could she just send the order through again. …I’m still hungry and can’t leave the house right now. She said ok. I got another call from Grub hub, a man this time, that said the order needed to be cancelled because something was wrong with the delivery driver and he could not do anymore deliveries today. …hmmmmm… really? So she lied to me and then acted confused to get me off the phone? Who runs a business like this? I told the man from Grub hub what she had told me and they were to blame. He was pretty upset, apologized and is refunding and sending me a few coupons. That is how you help a customer, Alamo, when you mess up. Don’t lie and make excuses. I hope grub hub decides to not give you anymore business.

Totally overlooked this place and after trying it out today I regret never going here for so long. I stopped on my way to class today for breakfast tacos and I was not disappointed! Good price and service and fresh tacos, how could I complain?

The pictures and reviews here are misleading. I’m sure the good reviews are for another location. I came here with a friend for a taco/tamale date and we left annoyed and disappointed. The service was super slow. The guy who did our order was nice and all, but boy did he need some lessons on how to hustle. We waited just for him to get our orders ready for 20 minutes! The food is already cooked and sitting on a steam table. All he had to do was heat the tortillas and fill them. In all we ordered 4 tacos and 3 tamales. That’s it! Everything lacked flavor except the green salsa. Oh, and when he put together the chorizo and egg taco, he put plain egg THEN chorizo and egg. Like, really? Won’t go here again. I might try the bigger location though.

Great tamales at a great price. I’ve been coming here for years and I always leave content. I actually find myself craving the spicy pork tamales with green salsa a lot more than I should haha. The manager always remembers my order, such great customer service!

Unilocal usually never steer me wrong but my experience with Alamo was a fail. The spicy pork tamales were DRY and definitely not spicy. The beef enchiladas were extremely bland. I’m usually a fan of Mexican rice and refried beans from almost anywhere but they were both flavorless. To make it worst my order was about 25 minutes later than the usual 45 – 60 minute delivery time so my food was cold. I definitely won’t be ordering from them again.

Yummy! Was on my way to Sonic for some breakfast burritos. Was thinking of going to Alamo, but didn’t feel like getting out of the car with a little one and my hair all a mess, but Alamo won out anyways. I’m happy we went. Friendly customer service and really good breakfast tacos. I can only vouch for the potatoes egg and cheese but they were delicious and way better than the original place I was headed to. They also offer vegetarian tamales and have a cute little table and chairs for the little ones to eat.

So… I was hungry this morning(no longer) and was looking for some good breakfast tacos. Options are slim in this part of Clear Lake. I’ve been here for the tamales and they are excellent! Much better than the Hot Tamale truck down the road. Any way… on to the Tacos!!! So I picked carne guisada, bean and cheese, and potato and egg. The carne guisada was very good. The meat nice and tender the way I like it. It reminds me of the carne guisada I used to get in San Antonio. The bean and cheese taco was perfect! The beans had excellent flavor. The egg and potato was good as well. Nice fluffy egg and with qubed potatoes. It did need a bit of salt in my opinion. The tacos are a good size. Probably should have got 2 instead. Easily my new favorite place for breakfast tacos. …trust me…

I have only had breakfast tacos here and they are perfection. They’re always fresh to order and you can customize what you want in them, which is awesome. Make sure you ask for salsa. Beware, the spicy salsa is SPICY imo. Updated review: minus a star, some of the people that work here are so rude and moody in the morning. Twice now the female worker has been rude or extremely sarcastic. Being friendly and courteous can go a long way with your customers.

Consistently good tamales over two years of patronage. Counter service is friendly and professional. There were three surprises for us. First I prefer the hand made tamales, but the machine ones are much better than expected. Second, our family prefers pork tamales. The brisket handmade are very good. I order a dozen of BOTH, now. Third, my girls combine the cheese sauce with the meat sauce for the tamales. It’s an amazing dip.(Both sauces are okay by themselves, but not my fave. Don’t ask me what alchemy happens when combined.) Our orders are always to go. Hoping to try the breakfast, soon.

The tamales here are great! The homemade ones are unmatched but even the basic machine-made ones are really good. These tamales are the perfect fix for anytime of day: breakfast, brunch, lunch, dinner, 4th meal, whatever! Alamo Tamales does it right! Oh and get yourself a breakfast taco too! They must’ve got new tortillas or someone to make them because they taste way better than before(store bought). Yeah, you never serve breakfast tacos with store bought tortillas… that’s a whole other subject. But still, they corrected that, so that’s why I gave them 5 stars!

Ever since I tried a tamale for the first-time ever in Cancun, Mexico(of all places), I have looked for tamales with similar matches in taste and texture. I prefer tamales that load up the masa and add just enough meat so that it compliments rather than competes with the favors. Homemade tamales are clearly where it’s at, but Alamo’s taste homemade to me. I like adding their salsa and queso for my own blend, and the tortilla chips give your palette an extra texture to contemplate. The prices are cheap – almost too cheap that I wonder sometimes how they stay in business. I need them to stay open because they are the best tamales I have found since my discovery of them in Mexico.

We had take out here last week, 3 Beef Tacos, 6 chicken tamales, 6 pork tamales and some lil cookies. It was all good especially the tacos, that’s my fav! It’s all I’ve thought about eating ever since, so we’re having tacos from Alamo Tamales To Go for lunch. When I 1st started this review probably 2 weeks ago we had only had theire food one time, since then I believe we’ve placed 2 – 3 more orders. I can not get full of the tacos. When I open the container ther are 3 perfect Taco’s the shells are fresh, thin and crispy and filled with meat, lettuce, tomato and 2 different typs of cheese, This has been consistent every time and I have never had that experience anywhere. It shows me the employees at Alamo take pride in their work. T Mmmm

My review is only for the tamales. I tried this place because I assumed it was associated with the Alamo Tamale in the warehouse district, the one that ONLY accepts cash(you gotta check it out, best tamales this little black girl has ever had). Any who, it’s not. I had a coupon for buy a dozen get a half dozen free. No problems using my coupon. The guy behind the counter was very fast & friendly. He was working the dinner line alone. This place is in the shopping strip with Starbucks. Small little to go suite. Set up in a cafeteria line style but me being height challenged, having to stand on my tippy toes to see over the counter. Back to the food… I ordered a dozen of the pork and a half dozen of brisket. It took forever to get to the meat! Just too much masa! Once I was able to get to the pork, the meat was just mush, no real consistency or flavor. Now that brisket was off the chizzle for shizzle! Maybe a tad bit too dry but flavorful. Again, too much masa. The guy in front of me ordered the nachos and I was just drooling. I will be back to order other things, definitely them cheesy nachos, but will never order the masa oh I mean tamales. Good prices and great customer service.

I’m only rating the tamales. That’s all I get here. I love pork tamales and their hand made ones(not their machine made) are as good as tamales get. There’s nothing more to say than they’re delicious. We get a dozen every couple of months, and freeze the ones left over. It took some experimenting but I’ve come up with a way to reheat frozen ones so they’re as good as they are fresh. I hope to explain my technique here next time I do some so there are pictures. ___ We’ve Eaten Out Every Meal for 25 years This one is take-out.(Is reheating takeout tamales the same as not eating out? Hmm. .)

I absolutely love their tamales, but I’m going to have to take away some stars because of the customer service I just experienced. My order was almost an hour late, the queso was missing, I ordered a dr pepper and got a coke, and they brought me chips from food town because they were not in the bag. I ordered through grub hub and they claimed to be unable to reach the restaurant, but I got them in one try. I heard the delivery driver cussing in the background and then they had the nerve to have him answer the phone to speak with me. He is delivering my queso, and a dr pepper from the store because they were apparently out. I even tipped. What a waste of time and money, because it’s been over 2 hours since I placed my order, and I have had to eat something else.
