Poor service, expensive for what you get, so-so food. Poor service exemplified by: not bringing my drink until my meal arrived. Not explaining that 2nd round of chips are corn chips when you first paid flour chips, not offering to replace or remove a child’s meal from the ticket that my son clearly did not like, not knowing the spices in the chicken(clearly had cumin in it, my son doesn’t like cumin), and not explaining uncharges. The waiter was personable, but competency and personable are not the same. Expensive: I worked in the restaurant business for years. Food cost should be about 30%. Flour and corn tortillas, beans, rice, and salsa are cheap to make. we didn’t buy the stuffed jalapeños because two of them are $ 5.95? Really? $ 1.95 to sub French fries for corn chips on a kids meal. This was the up-charge not explained. The kids meal ended up costing $ 8 for two 4″ corn tortillas and about 3 – 4 oz plain(cumin) seasoned chicken. $ 20 for a «quesadilla» smeared with a few black beans and a few ounces of shredded pork we substituted for the steak. I’ve heard the Leavenworth store is better. This is certainly not an upscale creative Mexican/Southwest/Central American/South American restaurant, but it charges like one. Over $ 50 ticket price for one adult entrée, a kids meal, one Piña colada, and flour chips with salsa. Food: The flour tortilla chips are best thing on the menu in my opinion, but then your second bowl will be corn. The rest is palpable but not too exciting and overpriced.

Drinks were good. Jalapeño poppers were cold and steaks were over cooked. Not happy and when staff was told not much empathy displayed.

I love the drinks from the bar — best Basil Margherita ever! The food is good but the portions are very small(compared to surrounding Mexican restaurants), and they charge extra for chips and salsa.

Wanted something different than the usual. Came to Pybus but all the other restaurants were full and didn’t want to wait. South only had a few people seated. My partner and I decided to eat here and it was great. I knew the bartender/waiter who used to work at Dutch Bros. He was super nice(as he always is) and the food came out fast. Despite my reservations about Mexican food — I enjoyed it. Wasn’t super hungry but ate everything. Including some of my partners food. Soooo despite my apparent hungry pig syndrome I plan on coming here again. Thumbs up :)

I discovered South in Leavenworth a couple of years ago and was really impressed with the food. The Wenatchee location is no different. The food is fresh and vibrant with tons of flavors. Unlike most Mexican restaurants, there aren’t giant globs of sour cream, cheese, and guacamole drowning your food. Every component in the dish is designed to work together to create the maximum amount of flavor. Anyway the food is delicious without being overkill. I also love that they combine a lot of flavors from all over Latin America. I really wish South would open a location in the Seattle area. This is a really solid restaurant and I highly recommend it. Ps — eat the green salsa on the salsa bar. It’s like crack

Great service, friendly staff, and tasty food. It’s the perfect place for a date night or just grabbing a bite and a drink with some friends. Highly recommended!

We went to South for the first time our last visit to Wenatchee. The food was great, the service fantastic, and the bar tasty! The Ceviche was fresh with firm whitefish. The chip bowl with poblano sauce, guacamole, and black bean sauce is very good! It comes with two kinds of chips! The Habanero Shrimp with Slaw was spicy, but not over the top. The slaw was sweet and spicy! The Sweet Potato Enchilada with Corn Pudding and Black Beans sent my wife into food heaven! We returned for breakfast two days later. The items we ordered were amazingly tasty! The chorizo was not greasy or overly spicy. The tortillas are homemade by a local northwest company! Do not hesitate to go to South at Pybus Market! A great experience all around!

My husband and I always stop in Wenatchee on our road trips to refuel. This time we stopped in at Pybus market and found a great restaurant South. Great atmosphere friendly service and amazing food. I had the Baja fish tacos and my husband ate the monster burrito. We’ll be back in the summer for more amazing food by the river. I wish there was a South closer to home we’d be there every weekend.

Went to South at Pybus market in the summer with a group of friends. Loved the modern atmosphere and décor of the inside. The outside deck was great too! We listened to live music while eating delicious, fresh and flavorful food. The flour chips and guacamole are a must, and the chile relleno had a magical poblano sauce that had me wanting to lick my plate. The drinks were creative and really good as well. My favorite was the passion fruit caipria. We all enjoyed our food and drinks and the service was friendly and attentive. We will make sure to eat at South every time we visit!

South in the Pybus Public Market is a Latin restaurant, they use numerous recipes from South America! Try their awesome margaritas, my favorite is the basil. They serve anything from burritos, to enchiladas and my absolute favorite the fish tacos! Awesome happy hour Monday thru Friday 4 – 6. I love it here. The staff is always friendly and fun. I’ve never had any issues with this restaurant. Definitely a place to try if you are in the area. Love it, love it, love it!

Stopped here to eat for a midday lunch and was seated quickly. The food came quickly too which was nice. I got the burrito bowl with carnitas. It was a decent size but I’ve seen slightly bigger portions. The actual food was ok — the guacamole was ok, fair amount of meat but I didn’t like how the lettuce was buried beneath everything. The chips I could’ve did without or given the opportunity to switch with something. I had some of the molè which stayed true to the description of having a chocolate taste that isn’t too strong, still I’ve had a far better mole. Everything about the meal was mediocre not bad, but not all that good. The salsas were a bit weak too even the ‘diablo’ so I was let down by those too. I heard this place was really good so my expectations were somewhat high. Perhaps the location in Leavenworth is better? In any case fair Mexican food, but you may find something better.

I went to meet a few friends for drinks, and asked for a double basil Daisy. I could hardly taste the tequila in my short glass so I nicely asked the waitress if she could check that the drinks were doubled, she automatically got defensive saying she watched them being made even though I watched her walk downstairs then come back up grab only 2 of the 3 drinks because the bartender had not even made the 3rd. She was extremely rude and unapologetic. Definitely the worst experience at South.

I LOVE this place! Drinks and food are amazing! I do agree it is spendy but well worth it! Service can be hit or miss, but the atmosphere over all is amazing! I love the market and SOUTH is my go to place!

We where in Wenatchee for a summit. After looking on Unilocal we chose South for dinner. I’m so glad we did. The staff accommodated a huge group! The chips are incredible and the portions huge. Decent set up if accessibility is an issue!

While spending some vacation time in Wenatchee I asked some locals for a restaurant recommendation. I was directed to a Salvadoran restaurant called South in the Pybus Public Market. The menu tip from my friends was to try the fish tacos. My server was Matt. He concurred with the suggestion. I added a fresh Mojito to go along with my order. I was delighted. The three tacos were quite filling as they were paired with a Salvadoran slaw made up of several delicious vegetables, beans and rice. Matt brought me two salsas and a dark sauce. He advised me to use extreme caution with the sauce. I took his advice and avoided the hot sauce. I think it was a good choice. I will return to South the next time I visit Wenatchee.

The only reason this doesn’t get 1 star is the small amount of food I did get was good. First of all the upstairs and outdoor seating is nice. Great ambience. Our service was terrible. The food portions were tiny for the price. The food, was tasty though. I paid $ 13 for three all carte beef tacos. They were equivalent to a taco truck where they are $ 1 a piece. My husband and I ate one entrée off the lunch menu and each had one well drink cocktail and our bill was $ 48. No chips or salsa is provided at the table. We weren’t even directed to the salsa bar I had to look for it myself. I ran out of water twice. We left hungry and angry. The building is cool though.

Sat upstairs and had nice friendly conversations with the bartenders on a quiet December afternoon. Enjoyed the flour tortilla chips which were hot and delicious! Limited beers on tap but they have a variety of liquors available and seem to make lots of fun mixed drinks! They mentioned it gets pretty warm upstairs in the summer but the temperature was perfect on a winter day.

I have seen mixed reviews for South at Pybus Market and decided to be adventurous and check it out for myself. We toodled on down to the market late afternoon on a Sunday when things were pretty quiet. Greeted promptly and chose to sit up stairs for the view. Our servers were prompt and attentive and we had water served quickly. Perused the drink menu and I chose a bottled beer while my wife had their Daisy Margarita. Nothing fancy, just a basic drink that was $ 8.95. I got my bottle of beer and my wife was served this sad little 7 or 8 ounce drink. The tequila was rough, the drink strong, and it was gone in a few sips since it was mostly ice. Definitely way overpriced considering the size and quality of the drink. For a meal I ordered the Taco plate which was three small soft shell tacos with chicken and tomatillo for $ 10.95. A few chips and some cabbage came on the side. In comparison, this exact same Taco plate at Alma’s is $ 5.95. The chicken was overpowered by the tomatillo but overall wasn’t bad, just too spicy. My wife ordered a chicken with tomatillo burrito and commented that the burrito tasted as if it had been frozen and reheated. She had the same opinion concerning the chicken. Our trip was disappointing and expensive… Our ticket for the Taco plate, burrito, one beer and one margarita, was almost $ 38 plus a tip for the server. Unfortunately, except for the good service, the experience was less than stellar and we feel as if we paid double what the meal was worth.
