Seagull Restaurant and Bar

Great place. Best pub food around. Have eaten at bar and in dining room… no problems at all… burgers perfect… shrimp scampi excellent… Raw clams and oysters great… Staff great… New favorite place.

So, I was going with my girlfriend to see a band that we knew. I looked at the reviews and saw a lot of negativity. What’s up with that people? If the food, service and or kitchen was bad don’t be afraid to complain to the top people. Certainly make sure you are speaking with the top people before you make the mistake in antagonizing the wrong person.
ANYWAY…
Based on the reviews we did not eat there and had a little something before we arrived. I was soo disappointed cause the food looked incredible. Everyone in our group had burgers serviced on Texas Toast. One cut it in half and the burger was medium, pick and juicy. Boy was I pissed I listened to all the negative reviews. So I had a dozen clams on the half shell. Deliciously cold, briny, wonderful. I think they are the least expensive on the Island cause a dozen clams were only $ 10.95. I saw Shrimp cocktails going by and they were large shrimp and looked wonderful as well.
So listen up people, for what ever reason your trashing an establishment, think about it before you write.
The Band was great too, had a great drew of people. Good selection of tap beers. Back deck is not the largest but Adequate. The wait staff is very hard working and get distracted due to the band being loud but they were great.
I would definitely go back here.

I’ve been to the seagull several times now and was very happy every time! Great service and great food and as always even better drinks! Everything is brought out in a timely manner. We love sitting at the bar for a few drinks or sitting outside after a day at the beach!

Went last Friday, the start of Labor day weekend. Great ambiance and atmosphere.
Nice vibe and got a great table outside on the dock patio. The food was great!!!
They had some guy playing guitar and singing and he made the night really fun and we hung out and partied along with him. Got a bit windy outside but was worth it — we will be back!!!

At this restaurant last night and it was awful the waitresses were slow and seemed confused about what they were doing. I was there about 10 days earlier and although the staff were slow then we returned because the food was good. Last night it had to have been a different chef. The food SUCKED. THE drinks were average and I really suggest a whole new staff. We also waited a very long time to get our food. I will never return. I gave the one star because my cocktail was good

WOW! WOW! WOW! Our waitress (I believe her name was Shannon as the check said cashier Shannon) should look for a new career. Took her 15min to bring our drinks. Waited another 15 min on top of that to get our oysters on the ½ shell. We asked her 3 times if should could bring us some bread (as we saw other tables with different waitresses bring bread to them). After waiting a while we asked her again (she said it’s coming as they were making it now). After a total of 30 min we received cold rubbery rolls! I thought they were making them. Fresh rolls would be hot and crispy. We waited about 40 min just to get our fried shrimp appetizer and about 15min to get a second round of drinks. We also ordered a Tuna pineapple appetizer and after 45 min she brought out the wrong dish. Well I think they must have used the same tuna and sliced it with a plastic knife (because it was so mangled). It was a HUGE disappointment. We went here when it was The Dockside (aka The Backside as that place was terrible as well). From what we saw the other waitresses were on the ball. Oh and FYI there were only 5 other tables filled and 4 waitresses when we were there.

The service was extremely slow. It took 10 minutes to get our water order and 20 minutes to get beer. We ordered shrimp and oysters as an appetizer and the shrimp came out about 20 minutes later. The waitress blamed the «system being down» for forgetting the oysters, which were raw, I couldn’t imagine that taking a long time to prepare raw oysters. The waitress offered to bring out the oysters after our entrée, but that didn’t make any sense to do that, so we said skip the oysters. I got a cod wrap and it was pretty much all lettuce and maybe a small piece of breaded fish in there. I wanted to like this place, but the stupidity prevented me from doing so.

Nice atmosphere with the outside seating. But the service is horrible and the food is just ok nothing special. My recent visit there when I finally got a table which we asked for additional chairs since we had more than 4 people. No one ever brought us chairs we had to get them ourselves. No one brought over menus, we had to get them ourselves. We stopped 3 waitresses abs asked if they were our waitress all said no. Finally we got someone to take our order. Took a long time to get our food and when we did 2 of the orders were incorrect. And the food was nothing to write home about. Not like they are shorthanded they had plenty of waitresses. this place needs to get more organized.

The only reason it has any stars is because the lobster was great. The service is extremely slow. Maybe it’s because they recently reopened or maybe their kitchen isn’t big enough to handle more than a few tables. Who knows? We called ahead and there was no wait. We were seated almost immediately. First issue was waiting about 10 – 15 minutes for a server. We’re ordered beer and water. The server never even mentioned the specials (we heard another server read them to a table so we asked). The house beer was good. Apparently there was a «system crash» that lost a bunch of orders including our oysters. But service was slow before that. Almost 10 minutes for 2 beers. About a half hour after that for beer battered shrimp (that had no flavor). Then we were told our RAW oysters works be out shortly. 45 minutes or so later our entrees came out. The server told us the oysters would be after the entrees because of a system crash. We decided to cancel the oysters. The lobster was great. The seagull wrap was mostly lettuce and the «bayou sauce» was mayo with paprika (good thing we got it on the side). As I’m writing this we’ve been waiting 10 minutes to pay. Our waitress is nowhere to be found. Management is clearly lacking.

Perfect summer restaurant, right on the water with $ 5 drinks and good food! The staff was super nice and friendly and the food was amazing. I recommend the mussels and the ahi tuna because that’s what I got and I loved it.

Where to start? I recently ate dinner here a few weeks ago with my fiancé, future mother in law and future father in law. We ordered our food. My mother in law and i both got the shrip skampi and it was amazing. My fiancé on the othe r hand ordered the grilled cheese burger? (A 14 $ burger keep in mind)
He ordered his burger medium rare. (Warm pink center)
It was WELL DONE. (Like tottay almost burnt)
So we called the waitress over and sent it back to be medium rare. We get the burger back. And it was RAW. the cook was so offend that his meal got sent back, that he put raw chop meat back on his plate.
No of course my fiancé is angry. He called the watress over and asked for a manager. Thats when the chef came out. And got into my fiances face saying «you got a complaint? «
He was very theatening. How ever my fiancé kept his cool and explained the situation, considering at this time we thought he was the manager.
Thats when he cook said «do me a favor. Dont like it? Then dont fucking come back»
What a horrible sotuation. I will never come back to that shit hole.

We love it! So glad the place finally re-​opened. The new owner is great. Fantastic dock and dine location. Very casual, friendly staff, good food.
The only downside is the limited number of menu items. Hopefully they’ll add more as time goes by. In the meantime; be sure to ask about the specials. They are usually really good!

I was visiting from San Diego and found this establishment on Unilocal.It is a beautiful neighborhood gem, but even better as it is on a canal. The back deck is next to the dock where people can dock their boat and enjoy the view. It has a cute Tiki bar which is an added bonus. The staff were friendly, pleasant, and accommodating. They told us that the former restaurant was damaged in Hurricane Sandy and three years later this is the new Seagull. It has a relaxed vibe and a nice neighborhood vibe. We ordered fresh clams, oysters, shrimp cocktail, and oysters. All were fresh and nicely presented. The hamburgers were tasty and cooked to our order. The cocktails including a piña coloda and a margueritas were perfect. A real DJ came later and played fun Caribbean music that added to the ambience on a beautiful summer afternoon. We traveled from Jones Beach to find the Seagull and we were glad we did.

I stopped in expecting the old «Gull». What a complete transformation. It feels just like Fire Island without all the city slickers and without Fire Island prices. The menu simple but there was board specials and the food was excellent. There is also a nice Tiki bar on the outside deck. Overall a great time and a great value

This place was awesome! the tiki bar at the dock was a beautiful way to spend Sunday afternoon. The music was relaxing and Joanne the bartender was on point. We will definitely be returning to this place!
