Maya Skincare Center

I’ve been getting waxed since I was 13 (thanks, genetics), and have never had an experience where my skin was actually peeling off days after. My tender, waxed skin also remained pink for about 48 hours, rather than my usual half day.
The woman who did my waxing, however, was wonderful and I could see how people would flock back to her as regulars. If I were rating on service alone, the place would get 5 stars.

I have been going to Maya Skincare Center for about 14 years (my mom has been a client even longer than that) and there’s a reason why I keep coming back here — this place is simply the best (and best value)!
I think their prices are extremely reasonable for consistently good services. Last weekend I had a facial, manicure and pedicure. I had Lena for my facial and she is thorough! She is now intimately acquainted with every single one of my pores. Luda did my manicure and pedicure, and she did a fantastic job. Maya is one of the few places that will use the razor on your feet without having to specifically request it. (Once, they did such a good job getting my feet smooth and clear of all dead skin, I actually slipped and fell when I got home because I had no dead skin traction!)
I have tried so many places in the Detroit area and in Chicago and I’ve never had a better traditional mani/​pedi than at Maya. They are always extremely thorough and their polish lasts longer than any other place I’ve been to. (They don’t skimp on the top coat, which is my biggest salon pet peeve.)
Beyond the excellent salon services, the staff is absolutely wonderful. As my mom has been a client for so long, the staff treat her (and me) amazingly well. They always know about what I’ve been doing in school my new job, etc. Likewise, my mom knows all about their kids and lives. It’s a really wonderful atmosphere.

This place has been in business for years… I mean, more than 11 years for sure! I used to go for eyebrow maintenance when I lived in Michigan, and I went today for a touch up from Lena during a visit home. I’m happy to say they are still an old standby for eyebrow waxing… even my dad noticed how great my brows looked after my visit!
If you’re looking for skincare of any sort, give Maya a chance. Lena is fantastic… I’ll for sure continue to visit when I’m home and in need of any sort of skin care, waxing, etc…
