Atmosphere: Good for what the restaurant is, but you can definitely smell the party from last weekend when you’re eating. Food: Great burgers!!! Service: Fantastic.

We went on a holiday, and got seated immediately! It’s a nice looking bar, excellent menu items and reasonably priced. We both got prime rib dinners, and they were cooked to perfection, medium! Got the horse radish on the side, bread, corn on cob, and french fries. It also came with a salad, which was very, very fresh! The beer was ice cold, and the server Haley was tops. Would deffinately reccomend and can’t wait to go back!

Ryan’s isn’t really the place for me. I’m not usually into the Irish pub scene, but I will give anywhere a chance. The food looked unappetizing but I really cannot fairly judge it because I did not order any. The bartender was nice, but spent all night flirting with my friend(as he was wearing a wedding ring). My friend is a cute blonde with blue eyes, so I’d expect this. The only thing that was frustrating was that it was my other friend’s 21st birthday and he did nothing to make the experience special for her. The atmosphere was all right. I would have preferred my beer to be served colder, but they had some pretty yummy mixed drinks. I’m not entirely convinced that this place is worth visiting again, but the locals seem to love it. To each his own!

This is the very first bar I went to legally after turning 21. We only stayed for about an hour but it was a pretty good time. Since then I went back several times and it was never a good time again. I never ate at Ryan’s but did order an appetizer one time which was pathetic. It was three microwavable mozzarella sticks which were lukewarm for $ 6. Good thing I came to drink a few beers and not eat here. Over the past year and a half I had several encounters with customers and staff that I did not enjoy at this establishment. One specific encounter was with a ‘bald-headed’ bartender named Rick. If you know him, or ever see him tell him to F*** off and get a new job. The guy sucks… story posted below. I never received a response from Ryan’s when I kindly messaged them on their very active Facebook(they most definitely saw the message but chose to ignore it– first mistake of a business in the service industry). ORIGINALMESSAGETORYAN’S PUBBELOW — no answer: Yesterday night(Saturday-8/17/2013 around 1am) I had a tab open at your establishment and after two drinks I went to close it. I walked up to close out my tab(downstairs bar) and kindly asked the bartender(Rick). He looked at me and said«you already closed your tab»(in a very unfriendly tone) and simply walked away. I waited about two minutes and flagged him down again and told him I would like to close my tab and he has my credit card so in a very unfriendly tone he asked how much the tab was. I told him around $ 10 and he pulled out $ 15 threw it in my face and told me to leave. I was confused/enraged and luckily didn’t jump over the bar to cause a confrontation and make matters worse. He then simply walked away after yelling in my face that I had closed my tab already(I could see my credit card from the bar…). Another bartender then walked by who I asked to close out my tab and he simply retrieved my card and handed me the receipt. The other bartender(Rick) then walked up to me took the $ 15 he threw at me off the bar-top and without saying a word or apologizing he walked away. I have never encountered such a service at a restaurant/bar and Rick’s behavior was absolutely ridiculous and unprofessional. I have been to your establishment 4 – 5 times total and have always had a good experience before that situation. I understand in the service industry sometimes it gets frustrating for the staff dealing with so many people but the way Rick acted/carried himself was unacceptable. The only thing I wanted after the experience was a simple apology but Rick even failed to do that and did not acknowledge his mistake. I hope you can have a talk with him(I learned his name from the bouncer working the front door – I asked for the ‘bald-headed’ bartender and he said his name was Rick but did not know his last name).

Ryan’s is your standard college pub. There are two floors, and It’s one of the few bars in West Chester where you can play pool.

«Where everybody knows your name.» This is like a scene out of the old series«Cheers». If you do not frequent this place more than 1 time/week, expect horrible service. I’ve been reluctantly going to this place on and off throughout my adult life and have never had above mediocre service. I go when I’m usually more than a couple drinks in and am going with the flow of the crowd I’m with — it’s never my choice. After waiting 15 – 20 minutes to be asked what I’d like to drink, the attitudes of staff are that of a prisoner — unhelpful and almost as if you’re imposing on their time. Choose one of the other 27 bars in west chester.

I have to start out by saying that I’m a WCU alumni and spent many-a nights at Ryan’s in the early 2000s. It’s funny how a place like Ryan’s was considered the«expensive night out» when you were in college. Trying to relieve our glory days, we went to Ryan’s to grab some food and a few drinks. While the beer tasted the same, the food and service was pretty awful. As an Italian I was offended when my friend’s fried calamari came with shredded parmesan cheese on top. That’s violation 101. It is an Irish bar, after all. The cheese steak, the chicken blt sandwich, and the cesar salad were all pretty bad. Ryan’s does have good wings, and they have a wing special every Wednesday. My(formerly) pregnant sister can attest to that. If you’re in town and looking for a decent dinner, hit Ryan’s for a beer before or after, head somewhere else to eat.

Stopped in with a friend after some last minute«omg winter break is almost over and I really need to take care of xxxx at school» business. The hostess offered us the option of sitting upstairs where she said it was a little quieter. We opted for that as it was getting quite loud on the main floor. The service was really good. Our server was very friendly and attentive AND she suggested a half order of nachos when I ordered them for a meal. The half portion was huge and I didn’t finish it. I can’t imagine what the full order looks like. When the server got busy, the bartender made the rounds and asked guests if they needed another drink. We must have timed our visit just right because the place filled up as soon as we ordered our meals. We sat upstairs away from the bar and happy hour crowds. The place is decorated nicely. What I liked seeing the most was on our way out by the stairs — a sign that says something like there are no strangers, only friends who haven’t met. I heard that expression many times during my trips to Ireland.

Like any other bar, I think the company you keep can make or break a place. My friend and I ended up here when the other place we were at got too crowded. The place can be empty one minute and jam packed 10 minutes later, so depending on when you get there, you may or may not be able to find seating. We got lucky and snagged an open booth. The music was okay and they had a fun crowd(when there was one) and when you leave with a Happy Birthday crown and its not even your birthday, you know it was a good time!

Unpretentious bar with plenty of room to hang out. Plenty of TV’s to watch any sporting event. Didn’t sample any of the food.

If you are expecting anything more than the college crowd and bar food, you’ve come to the wrong place. The food is mediocre, the service is what you would expect from stressed out WCU students, and i swear they water down their Blue Moons when they are on special. I’ve had their fries, Reuben, and burgers, none of them are worth paying for. I don’t know why but every time i get a long island from this place, they drown it in Coke. It’s happened on at least 2 occasions. Really, the highlight from this place is wing night. They don’t skimp on the wings, sauce, or blue cheese, and you really can’t beat the price.

Settled within west chester downtown and courthouse. Made a few minor order mistakes, but nothing big. It’s ok for a meal, but nothing special

Almost a one star… cause I know they can do better. Sat at the bar for lunch no mention specials or soup of the day… ordered a burger medium came our well done. roll was bland and stale. couldn’t wait for them to make another needed to get back to work. seems like the BT was more interested in reading the paper than servicing a customer… too many options in WC… need to step it up or this place will be on one of those food network makeover shows

I’m not a big bar fan, but I go to Ryan’s for dinner once in awhile. Their pasta dishes and shepherds pie are especially delicious. I’ve never ordered anything I didn’t like. They have cheap dinner specials during the week. If you want a quiet dining experience get there before 8. It is a bar after all!

Good food in a loud place. We were there on a Friday night and there were lots of college kids and it was loud. Good menu and beer selection, might have been a little better earlier in the evening…

After the town Chili festival’s ass to crotch crowdedness aggravated me enough that I needed to search out a spot to quench the one alarm fire in my mouth(MOREHEAT next year, please!), I stopped in at Ryan’s. It was an absolutely crazy scene outside when I entered at the halfway point of the competition, so the packed pub interior didn’t surprise me at all. A frosty pint of Harp helped me ignore the slower than normal(I’d imagine) service, and the arrival of the healthy sized portions of pork let me forget the rest. When it comes to pulled pork, I like mine to be swimming in sauce. Ryan’s meat had definitely taken a dip, but it didn’t have that shirt staining sloppiness I crave. Still, it was a very good sampling with a tasty, dark, and smokey sauce that had an ever so slight hint of spice(unless that was residual chili flavor), but I got it without the cheese. My significant other went for the sliced and spiced variety instead of pulled by getting the Italian roast pork. I took a bite of her’s and it had great flavor, plus an au jus with a pleasant undertone of onion, but in my opinion, my meal was the better of the two. As far as the side of fries that came with each manwich went, they looked better than they tasted. I guess the papas fritas are a battered version, but they just tasted like crispy grease; all but a few were left behind for the busboys, if they have any, to scavenge(don’t you judge). Seems like a nice spot to weekend it up, but I live in Philadelphia so i think this will be our only encounter.

I’ve eaten here once and been to the bar a couple of times. The seafood platter with potatoes was fantastic. The bar itself is pretty average. You will generally find the older college crowd mixed with a middle-age crowd. I watched the world series there and the mood was obviously a little higher that night as everyone watched their Phillies take it to the house. They still allowed smoking even though the smoking ordinance had passed by the time of the world series. Not a bad place if you just want to hang out with some friends for a few drinks. They do an open mic one night, but I never was able to make it out for that.
