I came here to try and find a cake that my sister told me was amazing, however they didn’t have it. I ended up trying a cake slice I was interested in. It was the Sea Salt Coffee Brulee Cake. I enjoyed it. The sea salt cream on the cake is especially tasty. I didn’t see the chocolate cream cheese bread at this location which made me a bit sad because it’s my favorite item from 85 degrees.

Love their Peach Green Tea. It’s Jasmine based tea with peach syrup and ice. This place is typically busy therefore it isn’t the cleanest. Nonetheless, that doesn’t affect their baked goods or beverages. Their service isn’t the greatest but I can look beyond that as well. lol.

This is just a fun place to grab some goodies. If you have guests from out of town you should take them there late night. The hotdog Danish is always a hit.

Of all the 85 degrees, I would say this one has less«FRESHBREAD!», like they scream when bread is ready. The selection is smaller than most and they have an excess amount of their popular breads, which aren’t that great to me. Some of the selections can be a little pricey for what it is. Maybe it’s my boring tastebuds but the bread doesn’t taste superior than other asian bakeries. Of the choices, I enjoy their brioche, giant brioche, chocolate chip bowl, and marble taro. Drinks: People go crazy for their drinks but I don’t think it tastes great. Kind of watered down and worth waiting. They take forever to make their drinks. Cakes: My friend who used to work here said all their cakes are pre made else where and brought in frozen. They then let it defrost and display for people to buy. I’ve tried a number of their cakes and none has stuck out to me. Service: Their cashiers ring people up really quickly so the line doesn’t get too bad. There is an ample amount of parking spaces in the shopping center.

I don’t know why I keep going here when I’m trying to cut back on my carb intake… But I Just can’t help it! INSTRUCTIONSFORFIRSTTIMERS: Get a tray, place tissue paper on tray and use clean tons. Self serve bakery. Please don’t put dirty tongs back onto track. They collect everything at the cashier. They announce when fresh bread is being put out! Honey bread: my fave. It’s so soft in the middle, and sweet because of the honey. Brioche: sweet, salty and soft. Light and fluffy. PARKING: free ample parking available in the shopping plaza parking. Ambiance: casual. I have seen people with their laptops here. So might be a good pace to work. Not sure if there’s Wi-Fi though. Self seating. Outdoor seating also available.

It’s ok I suppose. They have a lot of pastry appealing to the eyes. I had the 1) Cream Cheesecake Taste like cheese bread, not cake. I wouldn’t buy it again 2.) Red Velvet It was ok. I like Claimjumpers better 3.) Deluxe Strawberry Cream Taste just like paradise cake from King Hawaiian Bakery to a T 4.) Mango Panna Cotta Cup It taste like just cream brûlée w a mango taste. The actual mango chunks up on top were ripe taking the flavor away from the pudding.

While on my way to DTLA(Downtown Los Angeles for those of you who are not familiar with the term), I thought I should be productive and check out this cute bakery which was right off the freeway. So on my way back, I stopped by. Based on the reviews, I thought this would be similar to Porto’s, so I was expecting to wait a bit since it was Monday evening, but I was pleasantly surprised when I saw no line what-so-ever! The place itself was very clean and well-kept. I proceeded to grab a tray and make my bread selections(also not expecting that). I wasn’t familiar with many of the selections, so I just grabbed whatever looked good. Also, some of the signage wasn’t placed properly so I was totally clueless as to what I was grabbing. From the self serve area, I grabbed a few mini apple pies, various breads, and the guava & cream cheese strudels. I also ordered iced milk tea and a slice of red velvet cake, and taro cake. The price was only about $ 26, which I thought was GREAT considering I got a good amount of pieces. I was thoroughly impressed with the packaging, as they wrapped each piece individually in tiny plastic bags, then placed it in the box for you. My two slices of cake, came in a cute box as well. The taste … sadly, just OK. I am a big fan of asian bakeries, but this was just bland. I think the best thing was the Taro cake, but even that wasn’t extraordinary. I couldn’t even finish this mocha bread I picked up from the self-serve area, and the red velvet cake was underwhelming. Why 4 stars if the taste was just OK, you ask? Well, I think it could very well be that I made some bad choices in pastries, so I’ll have to go back and try something else. To be continued? …

Walked into 85 degrees just about 8:30am yesterday and there was already customers in the store. This was my first time trying it but my cousin has had it many times so she knew all about it. We grabbed a tray, tongs and picked the following: milk bun, egg tart, pineapple cakes, red bean and chocolate(forgive me for not remembering the name). There was so many to choose from, from sweet to savory buns, cookies, desserts and beverages. If we were going to back home, a box would be ideal but since we had plans a couple fit the bill. When we got up to the register to pay, the staff placed our goods in individual bags unsealed. My cousin pointed out their other locations seals up the bag to preserve the freshness. Sat down to enjoy our goodies. I started with the milk bun and boy was it amazingly fresh/fluffy. The milk custard in the middle was creamy and it had just enough sweetness. I then tried the chocolate one which was okay but it was still fresh. The middle has chocolate like a chocolate pieces like a chocolate croissant. On the other hand my cousin had the egg tart and the red bean one. She pointed out both were good. I should of gotten a egg tart instead of chocolate but there is always next time. There are plenty of tables to sit at. Eat, enjoy and relax. The restrooms were fairly clean but out of paper towels. Other than paying we didn’t interact much with the staff. Overall, I enjoyed my goods and can’t wait to go back for more. If you are in the area, swing in by for something whether it’s bread, buns, cookies, desert or just a drink. You can’t go wrong. I’ll have to agree with other Unilocalers, 85 is a Asian version of Porto’s. Only if there was a location in PDX, maybe one day. If not, I’ll always have a reason to visit.

This Bakery use to be so good, employees were smiling and the selection was so great But now the lines are longer. The moods are grumper, The crowds are pushier. And the smiles are mostly gone on both sides of the counter Selections are limited most of the time Honeymoon is over I guess you could say.

This 85 is an old stomping ground of mine. All of the problems I had dealt with before never really bothered me, and I think I only come back here because it reminds me of my good ol high school days where I would loiter like nobodies business. But, I gotta shed light on 85’s problems: 1) dirty tables 2) lack of bread choices by like, 7 pm? And it closes at 10? 3) unfriendly cashiers 4) less than stellar drink choices Why am I making a review about a place I used to hold so close to my heart? Because FOODPOISONING. I’m looking at you, weird tuna pastry. Not only was I doubled over on the toilet — my dad and my friend, who ate the same tuna pastry, felt the same way I’m really disappointed that the quality of the bread dropped so low, because they used to be sooooo good to me. But if I got sick from one of these pastries, I’m sure other pastries can do the same and I’m not sure it would be worth coming back. Fresh bread? Yeah right.

It’s your typical Asian bakery, so I don’t get what makes this one so special? Honestly, the bread is overpriced. I can get the same thing at any other Asian bakery for half the price. I do give them a thumbs up for their sea salt drinks($ 2.75), which are pretty good. The place is huge and open with many options though. Simply put, I would probably frequent other bakeries, but to give into the hype every once in awhile is okay, I guess. I do really like their portuguese egg tarts although they’re almost $ 2 each, which is quite expensive.

Been here a few times already. This location is more convenient for me, but I still prefer to drive a little further to the Hacienda Heights location. This location has improved since they opened. There’s still a good number of empty bins, but they do bring out bread fairly quickly. Service is okay. The workers are high school and college age students. Sometimes they acknowledge your presence and sometimes they just ring up your order without speaking to you. Usually, when they don’t acknowledge you, it’s because they are too busy talking stories amongst each other.

Since I spend so much time commuting between home and work, I’m always looking for those easy on/off locations that cater best in my favor. Gasoline, coffee/drinks, food and most importantly, a restroom that won’t delay my travel time by much. Which brings me to 85° today after a long and dreaded day of(2) meetings and attending to regular business at work got the best of me. My ears are partially still ringing(figure of speech). I’m not too much in favor of sweet drinks and I’m always drinking organic cold teas when I’m not consuming coffee. I graciously declined on pastries because I ordered a iced matcha latte that tips the scale on sweet. Unfortunately 85 uses a powder mix with this drink and you can automatically taste the difference in comparison to loose leaf teas. With that being said, it’s a good buy if you pay the extra cent’s for a large or at least a small and let your palate decide. Pastries are the main«eye candy» one can’t help but to order some expensive sweets and they add up quickly in $$. Some of the selections are on the larger side and can be sliced at home to share. I myself like pineapple cakes that come individually wrapped and sealed in a 3 pack. Wholesome fresh on first bite with rich and moist pineapple on a non buttery outer layer. Perfect for the in between meal at home, school or work. Another favorite are cheese tarts that are more on the bland side of taste but yet moist and soft. Very similar to egg tarts and Portuguese natas. We have also ordered from the specialty display case Mango crème brulee, that is always a great secondary party favor. It’s like everyone forgets about the birthday cake with candles and wants to pick at Mango crème brulee. You’ve been to one store, you have basically seen them all. I myself think this store doesn’t have as much pastries and it’s typical to see the same item more than once as you glance. Very bright and roomy with limited seating and more outdoor seating. If you’re looking to study, read a book or conduct a meeting, this isn’t the place. I think because of the high open ceiling, the acoustics of your voice and employee’s announcing«fresh bread coming out», it’s tends to be very loud. Grab yourself a tray and tongs and fill it up nicely. They do offer boxes or paper bags and they will wrap your specialty items with a transparent plastic wrap from making a mess. Location is conveniently located parallel with I-10 fwy at Citrus at the outer edge of West Covina on a very old property(1960’s) that has taken on a new façade and now occupied with trendy storefronts. Parking lot is very large and offers extra wide parking stalls with lot’s of bright lights and symmetrically planted tree’s. I would encourage anyone to come out at night and check the scene. Out with the old and in with the new :) Pura vida :)

This is one of my favorite bakeries. I’ve been coming to 85c for 2 years. Normally I go to the one in Torrance, Gardena or Cerritos Because they are closer to my house. I’ve been coming to WC location for the last 2 months. I love the 85c hot coffee. It’s just perfect, right amount of milk, right amount of sugar and very affordable. Pastries are delicious.

From now until March 2016… if you spend over 12 buckaroos you save $ 3! And that’s easy as egg tarts :) I love this chain of bakeries, I don’t think Asian desserts get any better or fresher than 85. Like many MANYMANY folks, I will rave about the egg tarts, squid ink buns, and taro bread. But the truth is, a lot of the desserts are delicious. I also learned that 85 brews exquisite coffees… which is supposed to be brewed at 85 degrees. Anyways, their hazelnut latte and sea salt iced coffee is super yummy! They paid really well with the affordable tarts. Truly low price luxury!

It seems like over the years this 85 has progressively gotten worse. If you’ve been a patron to this location you would definitely agree with me. It’s almost as if this location ran out of steam and is just riding the lease out. The employees here are a mixed batch. Some of them are incredibly nice while others are downright rude. Selection isn’t that great on weekday evenings, there usually little to nothing left so avoid coming at that time.

This place is busy and has high inventory turnover. What’s impressive is there’s still a girl announcing«fresh bread» at 8 pm! So you know you’re literally guaranteed fresh bread even this late. This one is far from me but every time I have to stop by IKEA, I go here. I don’t bother with the Pasadena store cuz the bread is stale in that one. I lurvvvvvv the Hokkaido pies. So wonderfully cheesecake like with more air. Drinks are legit. I get green tea with no sugar and they make it strong. Turn around time is roughly the same as Starbucks(around 5min.)

Wow, I was really impressed with the quality of the baked good at this chain. I was able to try an assortment of the baked goods including egg tart(don tat), brioche bread, coffee raisin bun, and coconut twists. All were fresh, soft, and mmm mmm buttery. I wish they had this chain in New York. We have some good bakeries in NYC’s Chinatown but this one might beat them all. I hope to be back to try the drinks next!

Always sticking to what I like … The sea salt iced coffee… however I have tried their pastries and it’s truly divine, I want to go back and try the taro crème brûlée cake slice, I’ve tried the tiramisu and coffee crème brûlée along with other chocolate desserts and all of them were decadent and delicious. This place is a great fix to the cravings of sweets and omg the famous ice salt coffee thingy is worth the wait and try! The guy next to me got the iced salt green tea which I MUST try especially since I’ve been on this whole matcha kick lately …
