This place rocks! Quiet and no lines and the prices are the best! Dumplings are great! The garlic vegetables will make you stink to high heaven but the flavor is so worth the smell. A must try. The only reason I didn’t give it five stars is it’s not perfect and five stars has to be for only perfect places. Lol enjoy

It’s known mainly for their dumplings, but their other dishes are pretty good too. We normally order their spicy eggplant, sweet and sour pork, and then something else. Usually it comes out to be over $ 20, so we get the juicy pork dumplings [: I always get take out, but on one occasion we dined in. We got Their pork with crab dumpling, pan fried dumplings, and some other ones. They were all nice and juicy, even the pan fried ones. The people that work there seem to be really friendly. It usually takes 15 minutes if you call in, but it doesn’t take too long when you order there. We order here a few times a month. This is our go-to place for take out when we’re too lazy to cook. It really sucks that this place closed though. Where are we going to get our Chinese food nearby now? ]:

Xiao long bao! Juicy pork dumplings for those who aren’t in the know. I wasn’t in the know either until a friend recommended the place to me and it is sooo yummy delicious. Really, it is! I’ve gone here several times now and haven’t ordered I didn’t like but my favorite is definitely the juicy pork dumplings. They come out piping hot right off the stove and I’ve yet to learn my lesson in letting them cool down first. Pick up the dumpling, dip it in your choice of dipping sauce and place the whole thing in your mouth. Don’t be dainty. Whole thing in the mouth, that’s the way it should be so when the tasty morsel breaks, all the juices go where they should — in your stomach. Besides the xiao long bao, my friend and I ordered house special tofu, sweet corn soup, and beef pancake wrap. ALL Delicious! The bill was under $ 30 and because we ordered over $ 20 worth of food, we got an order of xiao long bao for free =) Only downside? Us two girls ordered enough to feed four people and we were so stuffed, we couldn’t finish the xiao long bao. Good thing everything tastes great taking it home too ;) Little tidbit: It’s about 8 – 10 minutes off the 10 freeway, tucked away in the far end of Hong Kong Plaza — a shopping center. It’s also closed every Tuesday.

this place was pretty dead when i came here on a sunday evening. they had a big screen tv for you to keep entertained. i ordered pan fried dumplings(they were oily), Xiao Long Bao, and shrimp fried rice. they were nice enough to give us an extra free Xiao Long Bao. the overall food quality was okay. not really comparable to mama’s kitchen or din tai fung. i gave them 3 stars because there is plenty of parking spots, the tv, the free Xiao Long Bao, and service wasn’t bad especially because its an asian place. my boyfriend and i wasn’t really won over so we’ll probably stick to our area to get dumplings. if you like the Xiao Long Bao here you ain’t seen anything yet! travel down to monterey park or alhambra to get yo dumplings on! :)

Such a weird name … I mean, I know Engrish is pretty funny(ahem) but One + One??? O. o … ANYHOW… Great pork + leek dumplings. They’re VERY soupy(kinda oily too) but very good. When I mean good, I mean these aren’t the kind that you’ll find in your frozen supermarket aisle or possibly homemade dumplings. Comes in an order of 10 for $ 6.85. The fried pork dumplings have a great crispy skin(much thinner than Kang Kang’s in MPK/SG) and a nice amount of pork meat inside. Careful, it comes out piping hot! Skip the cold cucumbers, there’s this sauce covering it that I didn’t like. Free wi fi — kinda. it’s free from lollicup next door ;) hehe… =X

I’ve never been a fan of the whole din tai fung dumplings or whatevers. I just never had the taste bud to enjoy them. But my friends wanted to come check this place out. It’s located in a big supermarket plaza. We went there on a Friday night and it was pretty dead. It also had a heavy vinegar smell which is probably normal because that’s what you eat dumplings with. The perk of this place is if you spend a certain amount of money, they throw in extra xiao long bao or green onion pancakes. I’m not sure if I’d come back to this spot, it seems alil hole in the wall for me and it didn’t taste amazing. Typical.

After reading all the great reviews that it’s comparable to Din Tai Fung or even better, I decided to check it out. Ordered the Shrimp & Pork, Fish, Juicy Pork Dumplings, and Green Onion Pancake. The dumplings are definitely bigger than the ones at Din Tai Fung. but taste quality, I think DTF still holds the upper hand. The shrimp & pork as well as fish dumplings were just okay. the juicy dumplings are good but what I didn’t like about it is at the top of the dumpling. there would be pork fat oozing out on top(see picture) so I had to pick it out since it was just plain gross. The green onion pancake was good. crunchy but a bit too oily for my liking. I kept reaching for the hot tea. The skin they make around the juicy dumplings isn’t as durable as the ones at DTF. They get stuck to the paper it sits on top of and some of our dumplings would break on its own after sitting in the steamer too long and lose its juice which is obviously the best part. FYI, when you order $ 20 worth of food you either get a complimentary order of the juicy pork dumplings OR green onion pancake, not both! The only thing I liked about this place was the fact that there was no ridiculous wait like the one at DTF and you receive a complimentary dish on the house. other than that the service and food were just mediocre.

This place is basically a little hole-in-the-wall in HK plaza. It never seems to be busy whenever I go(usually weekends or weekday nights), which is great because I never have to wait… but I’m surprised more people haven’t discovered it yet. It’s by no means an elegant dining facility, but I’d rather eat at a hole-in-the-wall with delicious food(than a ritzy place with mediocre food). My favorite things on the menu(they put stars in my eyes and make me go all swoon-y): 1. Xiao long bao(juicy pork dumplings): One Plus One’s signature dish, basically. Eat them hot — if you burn your tongue, oh well; you’ll be too busy swooning over the taste to care. The«proper» way to eat the juicy dumplings is to gently pluck and hold the dumpling in your chopsticks with one hand and hold your spoon right under the dumpling with your other hand as you bite. Thus, all of that delicious broth that was sealed inside the dumpling spills into your spoon instead of getting wasted on your plate or the table, and you can slurp it all up and sigh blissfully. Or, you can just try to shove the whole piping hot dumpling in your mouth and have your friends laugh as your eyes bug out from all of that(tasty) hot broth scorching the insides of your mouth. 2. Pan fried dumplings — crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, just the way potstickers should be 3. Beef pancake wrap — Crispy, chewy, fried and flavorful… thin, savory fried pancake wrapped around thinly sliced beef with tons of cilantro and a yummy sauce. I’m drooling just thinking of it right now! If you order $ 10 worth of food, you get a free green onion pancake. If you order $ 20 worth of food, you get a free order of juicy pork dumplings. Bring some people, buy $ 20 worth of food, and get the free order of juicy pork dumplings! It’s so worth it. P. S. Don’t get the pork and napa dumplings… they were very dry and didn’t taste very good.

I bookmarked this place to try it, and then as I read the reviews I realised that I’ve been here! How could I forget this place. All it took was a picture of the restaurant via Ciara(Thanks!) and my memory was jogging. The Soup Dumpling was great. Better than Din Tai Fung. I also had Noodle soup with Pickled Vegetables and Pork. I believe that it was pretty delicious, but I’m not sure if it was because I was coming back from Snowboarding or if it was because it was in fact, good! They also give you free dishes for every increment of $$$ that you drop. If you spend atleast $ 20, you’ll get a chives pancake… Oh yes, I want to come back here again. But I do remember we were one of the only people at the restaurant and the service was lacluster. The cleanliness too needs some work.

I literally JUST got home from eating here. Let me just say this now, I was already excited to eat here because I read all of these reviews, I already knew it was going to be good but DANG, i didn’t realize it was going to be THAT good. We walked in, and there was only another group there. We sat down & asked our waiter what was popular. He said that everyone usually ordered the Juicy Pork Dumplings. So we got an order of that(so good, my favorite!), an order of the pork&crab dumplings(it was okay), an order of beef dumplings(not that great), an order of their beef wrap in homemade pancakes(so good!) and an order of pineapple&walnut shrimp(it was okay). We pigged out. The dumplings were so good and REALLY juicy! The total bill for all that PLUS a juicy pork dumpling to-go was $ 38! Which isn’t that bad. Definitely coming back here(:

It was date night and we were in the mood for dumplings and a drive in. :] For a Friday night, you’d think it’d be busier, but only 2 other booths were taken=instant seating(a complete 360 from Din Tai Fung!) At least it wasn’t empty. Any way, it was Phil V. and my first time there so we were very clueless on what to order. Our waiter brought out the picture menu for us(thank god) and suggested a few tasty items. He also mentioned a sweet deal if you order $ 10+, you get a free onion pancake! Order $ 20+, get a free onion pancake OR an order of juicy pork dumplings! juicy pork and crab dumplings: These little dumplings had a little red dot of something in the middle and totally reminded me of boobies… wasn’t exactly appealing to my eyes at least. The crab made it a little more tender vs pork alone. Juice was good. Skin was tougher than what I had before, but overall, yummy. juicy pork dumplings(free): can’t beat free! I didn’t like how they brought out both dumpling plates at the same time allowing the second plate to cool wayyyy down by the time we got to it. :[ Didn’t taste as good cold and I hope they change their ways. green onion and beef: good but too much green onion! The meat had a weird rubbery texture to it, but it was ok. (non-spicy) egg plant dish: DELICIOUS! Get it! It comes out piping hot though so think twice before sticking it all in your mouth. *dishes come with rice washed it all down with hot tea :] Our waiter was super friendly, helpful, and checked on us a couple times. But the other waiter who refilled waters was weird… I noticed Phil V’s water cup had a ginormous 4 inch crack running through it so I told that waiter about it. He just said uh huh… and kept refilling the cup and left without ever apologizing or giving us a new cup. WTH! I guess he didn’t understand that cracked cups are bad and can break and be dangerous for customers drinking from it. yeah. So, our meal came out to ~$ 25, not bad. We were stuffed AND had leftovers! I would come again with friends, but I wouldn’t crave 1+1.

3.5 So im dating this awesome dude that lives in West covina and I don’t know shit about W. Covina, accept that there are a ton of asian eats in the area. So after us bumming around in and out of bed. I needed some food and I wanted chinese really bad. So boo tells me, he knows exactly where to take me. We go to the Hong kong plaza and he shows me the whole center. LOTS of options in this center, if you can’t find something to eat here, than there’s something wrong with you. He chose One plus One. Now I was craving peking duck realllllll bad and get this, this place doesn’t have it! I was beyond sad. So I looked at the book that had pics of everything they serve and my mouth was watering mmmmmmmmmmmmmm. We ordered a meal fit for a King and Queen. Here goes: House fried rice, Kao something chicken, Beef and broccoli, handmade beef noodles, beef wrap, pork and shrimp shumai and the free pork dumplings. Wow what a set for 2 people LOL. We were hooonnnnnnngggggry! The Kao chicken dish, is served cold, not getting that again, too many bones and not good cold, I love cold fried chicken but this is a dish that needs to be hot. The beef and broccoli was bomb the next day, since all the flavor from the beef seeped into the broccoli, flavoring it, having it fresh at the eatery was just ok since I like broccoli seasoned and cooked almost to mushy status. The beef handmade noodles were addicting and I would order twice for lots of leftovers mmmmmm. The beef wrap was good but too much cilantro, so I pulled some out. The fried rice was a huge serving and lots of various meats, the meats themselves were flavored nicely but the rice itself could have used more oyster sauce. The shumai and dumplings could use more seasoning as well, cook the meat in oyster and soy sauce and you’ll be set. Over all, I was fat and happy like a panda bear. Price can’t be beat 7 dishes for only 42 bucks, I’ve spent that alone on a sushi lunch for myself and no leftovers LOL I would most definitely come back to scale more of that HUGE menu. But after I scale the 20 million other eateries to try in that plaza :)

AHH! I can’t get enough of this place! I had the usual juicy pork dumplings, pan fried dumplings and two new items: Pan fried meat buns and the green onion pancake. This equaled to 20 bucks and got FREEORDEROFJUICYPORKDUMPLINGS. The juicy pork dumplings and pan fried dumplings were CONSISTENT as ALWAYS! DELICIOUS! SCRUMPTIOUSJUICYGOODINESS! Green onion pancake was extremely good to eat. I was surprised! I haven’t had this thing to eat since I was young. We use to get the frozen ones but this could not even compare. It was crispy, flaky but not dry, and just enough of green onion. The only thing it was oily but again thats the good stuff haha. The pan friend meat buns were interesting. It is a sweet bun that is pan fried on the bottom with meat that is similar to the dumpling meat. I would have liked it to have more meat in it but it was still good. It is worth a try definitely. There were some changes to this place since I’ve last been but it was probably necessary changes. The menu is different, less pages(I personally liked the old one with photos that matched the order). Also, they have a helper, he was attentive and on point. I love One plus One!

So I went on Unilocal to find a place near me that I havent tried yet… so my hubby and I picked here before our movie(Paranormal Activity 2… I screamed out loud!) Anyway, it is in the hong kong plaza. Tons of little restaurants and a market, pretty cool place. You first walk in and it has the somewhat fishy smell that most asian markets and restaurants have, but hey… that means its authentic! hehe I read that they made the noodles by hand so I was excited. We ordered the vegetable steamed dumplings, the veggie noodle soup and the house special noodles. We also got the green onion pancake for free! WAY too much food, but left overs are good! The soup came out first… nice and hot! lots of fresh green onion flavor with the herbs and a delicious broth. The noodles were so yummy! Mushrooms, baby bok choy, so good! The house noodles were really good as well, pan fried, good flavor with veggies, imitation crab and squid. The steamed dumplings were good for sure, I do like the texture of the pan fried more though. The green onion pancake was ok, tasted like a tortilla at first, still not sure about that lol. All in all the place is good, I will be going back there for sure!

Where’s the sauce to dip my soupy dumplings in?! Oh well, they were good without it especially once the AC turned on. Unilocal bud David C. told me about 1+1 quite sometime ago. When a small savory fix was needed after our mini cupcakes from MDC, my trusty bookmarks list led the two of us to 1+1. Since 1+1 = 2 we went for one order of the Juicy Pork Steamed Dumplings(8) and one order of the Pan Fried Dumplings(10 and also filled with Pork). And since 1+1=2 we got a bonus of a FREE Green Onion Pancake. Yummy! This worked out bc Lucy Y wanted to order one anyway. Free is better though. Juicy Pork Steamed Dumplings were good but the soupy yummyness that is supposed to stay enclosed in it’s dumpling shell did seep out on more dumplings than one. I LOVED the Pan Fried Dumplings and probably could have ate all 10 to myself. Green Onion Pancake was crispy but it really didn’t do much for me. It was great though bc it was free! Service is what you would expect at a place like this. Sweet but not the most attentive. They drop the food and go and you have to occasionally flag them down. BUT the dumplings made me go nomnomnom so I will totally return when in the area. PLUS like most dumpling places, they DONOT close in between lunch and dinner service. They are open all they way baby. **TIP** After reading Unilocal bud David C’s review again I see that you get the following FREE with minimum purchase FREE Green Onion Pancake with purchase of $ 10 FREE Steamed Dumplings with purchase of $ 20

There’s a compulsion that some people are afflicted with — and that’s the burning desire to have something savory after something sweet, and then repeat. Thankfully, Ciara G and I both can relate to this… which is why, after a lunch of Cook’s Tortas and then a dessert of My Delight Cupcakery minis, we drove to One Plus One Dumpling House! We started out ordering just this: Juicy Pork Steamed Dumplings($ 5.95 for 8) — these were steaming hot when they hit the table, but of course we had to eat them right away. The skins were thin and tender, which was nice — but unfortunately, so thin that when we picked them up the skins tore and leaked precious juice. They were still yummy! Pan fried dumpling($ 6.95 for 10) — Crispy bottoms from pan frying + juicy middles = two happy chicks! These were our favorites! Green onion pancakes — when we tried to place an order for these, the super nice waiter said«You don’t have to order these, they will come with your order for free». Well, thank you — how nice! They were pan fried crispy on both sides, browned, and chewy in the middle, with lots of green onions studded all over. Mmmmmm… When I realized the dumplings were so good — and so CHEAP — I decided to get some more yummies to go to bring home to my parents, with a to go menu: Hand Cut Pork Leek Dumplings, boiled($ 7.95÷10) — ground pork, liberally mixed in with leek pieces, in a thicker-skinned tender dumpling(more the texture of mandu) Pork Moon Cakes($ 2.95÷3) — tender crust on the outside, a little doughy on the inside, and seasoned minced pork on the inside. House Made Noodle w/Braised Beef Soup($ 5.95) — a huge pile of freshly made and cut noodles — a whole large to-go box! — came separate from the rich beefy soup, to add together when you go to eat it. Baby bok choy and chunks of beef in very richly five-spiced beef soup made my parents very happy! Overall, I think that the food here is definitely an excellent value. The only thing that I did notice is that I felt an MSG hangover hit me. However, I did have cupcakes and a sammich in the few hours before, so I’ll chalk it up to possible food coma — and only partly to MSG coma. I guess another visit is in order to determine how I feel afterward!

Pan fried pork dumplings are very skillfully pan fried: exceptionally crispy! House Special Tofu is delicious. Beware that it’s a huge plate of tofu topped with some kind of brown sauce and raw shredded carrot and scallion. It’s taiwanese style i guess. The top layer of tofu was dipped in beaten egg and pan fried, and the bottom was just silken tofu — no egg. Their SHanghai Noodle was seriously the sux today. It was as if they took straight hot bean sauce and globbed it over the noodles. Everything was overly salty and really pungent. Cook, wake up.

Despite the name, I came here unaware of the fact it was the restaurant’s general policy to give people a free order of XLB for every one ordered. So, in my ego-centric world, I was prepared to write a glowing review of this place, thinking that they were just being cool. Then, after reading the other reviews, I came to learn about the policy. Bummer. At any rate, I’m still going to give this place a glowing review. Why? — Got seated immediately with a party of 7 during peak lunch hour — The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. Didn’t feel rushed to get out. — Every item that we ordered was good — Prices that can’t be beat Oh yes, I will be back, even if it isn’t all about me.

6.13.08: On this day it was my first time at this place. Ever since then I can’t help coming back for the lamb dish. Yes this is a dumpling place and since its grand opening I couldn’t resist their buy 1 get 1 free deal. Their dumplings is not«O my give it to me good» but it is «yum!» The meat was good but they were lacking in skin department. There’s always seem to be a hole on some of them which kind of defeats the whole juicy dumpling part cause all the juices are gone. What surprised me the most is the lamb dish … Hmmmm. I’m craving for that now. It is o so GOOD. I can just imagine its sauce on the tip of my tongue. and as I chew the flavor just explodes lightly! *sigh, smack smack*. I would say give this place a trial and come for their other dishes it looks good.
