U-Haul Moving & Storage of West Hartford

This review is really overdue. I used them about 6 months ago. I was in a really terrible situation with an irresponsible roommate and long story short, I had to move my things out of my apartment and into storage. Extremely quickly. I got a truck from them completely last minute. Like a couple hours before they closed. The lady who helped me was so sweet and understanding. She did everything she could to ease my stress (which believe me, was through the roof). I loaded the truck and drove it back there with about a half hour to spare before they closed. I also needed to load everything into a storage unit in that half hour. She said don’t worry, take your time. When I was finally finished, it was definitely after they were supposed to be closed. I apologized like crazy. I know how working in the service industry is and i really hated to be that person hanging around after close when people want to go home. She saw how exhausted and wiped out i was and said that she would take care of sweeping out the truck and doing the return inspection for me. I was so incredibly grateful. She went above and beyond to make sure I could get done what i needed to. I reality wish i made a note of her name. I would have sent her a gift basket or something.
I also want to mention that I’m really shocked by the negative reviews. I’ve used this uhaul for moving a couple times before and have never had anything but a positive experience.

The manager has an additute of «its not going to work out as you expected, take it or leave it.». Reminds me of the DMV. How can I possibly recommend this place? Use the one on Capital Ave, I will next time.

The fact that I have to wait in line for 10+ minutes for a transaction that takes about 2 minutes gives this place an automatic one star in my book. Horrible queuing system and you will automatically have a bad experience if you’re there to purchase moving supplies instead of picking up a vehicle. It wouldn’t be a big deal if it happened once or twice. But it has happened every single time I’ve stepped in this store, which is upwards of 5 in the last week with the move I’m doing (ugh).
Service is halfway pleasant depending on who’s helping you. Pretty sure I’ve been helped by every single employee there and most are pretty helpful and friendly.

Do not use this company! We asked four 25 hours and were told no problem. Two days before the manager called and said we could have the truck for just 8 hours. We called customer service and were told we had the truck for 24 hours. The local manager told us he over road that. This went back and forth. Service department was rude and gave run around. We bright the truck back one hour past 3pm (a stressful feat given the travel or why we asked for initially for 24 hours). Nasty messages on our voice mail. Then they tried to charge for two days and over charge for insurance!!! Horrible deceptive and stressful. Terrible company terrible service and expensive. Go anywhere else. Local management was absolutely unreasonable rude and deceptive.
