No one cuts hair like this woman. I was gone for awhile and now I am so happy to be back.

Well, being a writer I hoped I’d have something original to say about my haircut, but honestly I have to reflect what everyone else is saying here. I have long, fine hair and a LOT of it, which has gone from straight to wavy since my kids were born. I used to see Chris McMillan who did a killer straight hair cut, but never could I let it air dry — frizz city. Plus he became astronomical and unavailable. When I got to Jeannine, it had been a long time since a cut. I felt I had this one-level dense«wall» of hair, with no life to it, alternating between tedious blow-outs and ponytails. She is a real and intuitive artist, I felt like she was sculpting my long hair bit by bit, or creating a new dress for me, watching the movement and natural waves emerge with every little snip. There was no feeling rushed, just a relaxing experience watching my haircut evolve until, as she said, it «fit.» I really liked her, too. Just nice and normal. She then recommended a killer colorist(Lisa at Rossano Ferretti in Beverly Hills) who I got great service from too, carmel blonde balyage mixed into my brunette locks. Jeannine even followed up with the colorist and asked to see pics of their joint creation. I go back for my freshen cut in a couple of weeks, we’ll see what she thinks. I can let it air dry with styling cream for fun, beachy waves or blow dry it into a sexy, tousled but more sleek look. Really happy that I found Jeannine. Cut was $ 225 and worth every penny to never feel like I’m having a bad hair day.

She’s got an adorable, very private studio tucked into a group of businesses with a very modern meets old school New Orleans vibe. She works alone and sees one client at a time. When you meet Jeannine, you can clearly see that she is an artist. She’s quiet and thoughtful, and she works on your hair as if it were a living sculpture. She works mainly on dry hair, but sometimes she’ll spray the hair a bit, or work on completely wet hair, depending on her needs. She doesn’t put anyone into a time slot(i.e. you have one hour and that’s it), but instead the hair is done when it’s done! Since I had my hair blown straight before I went to see her, I wasn’t sure she’d be able to tell how my wavy hair naturally fell when it wasn’t straightened. I think she may be a wizard, because she got it EXACTLY right. The next day, I washed, and conditioned. I scrunched my hair a bit and let it air dry. I even slept on it. When I woke up, my curls fell perfectly into place! I was pleasantly surprised! This doesn’t usually happen!

Jeannine is a true ARTIST! She truly changed my hair for the better. I really believe she magically enhanced my texture just by her cuts. I have so much more body and thickness, it’s unbelievable. She is really thoughtful and listens to what you want to achieve, no attitude whatsoever. I’ve been seeing Jeannine for over 11 years. When I lived in San Francisco, I would fly in just to get my haircut from her. Now I can’t ever move away! I can’t imagine anyone but Jeannine Brousseau cutting my hair. I trust her implicitly. And her«Hair-apy» is free with the cut. That’s what we call my mini Therapy sessions when I’m in her chair. Get your haircut from Jeannine. She is formidable. It will be the best haircut you’ve ever had!

First off, I am writing this review under my husband’s account since I don’t have one with Unilocal and am too lazy to do it… maybe one day. But that brings me to my review. When it comes to hair styling, I am also lazy. Or so I thought. What I have come to find out is I just gave up b/c I never had the right style. Years ago I decided to cut my hair short and went to Jeanine’s old salon, Salon Brousseau. She instructed her apprentice and it was a-mazing. For financial reasons I went on to another salon and I am being honest when I say for the next 3 years I was constantly chasing the style I got at Salon Brousseau. So fast forward to today… I had grown my hair out for my wedding and now was eager to go to back to my short hair. But with all the long hair styles being so prevalant, I really wanted to make sure I got a the right cut. So after much googling, I found Jeannine again working solo and I love my cut! Everyday not just some days. Every day. I love that she does the freshen b/c to me it evens out the cost of the first hair cut. Also — I’m the cheapest women I know, so if I say she’s worth it, she is. Besides she’s not more than some of those Beverly Hills, celebrity stylist salons who still leave you with a hair cut that either looks like everyone else, doesn’t suit you or is difficult to style on your own. Turns out I am not lazy about my hair, I was just damn frustrated and no one gave me a good cut for my type and texture of hair until I met Jeannine. This women is great.

Get your hair cut at least once by Jeannine Brousseau at Freshen in West Hollywood! Trust me. She is an artist that has mastered hair. Her style is like no other. Also, after 5 – 6 weeks post cut, she will«Freshen» you, that is, cut your hair, trim it, but not style it, for FREE. I’ve been going to Jeannine for over 8 years. She impresses me every time with her cut that I can just wash & go and still get compliments on my freshh looking hair cut.

10 years ago, a hipster friend who always had great hair, recommended I see Jeanine. On my first visit, I asked Jeanine to cut my unruly, very long curls into a pixie cut and I LOVED what she did. People would stop me on the street all the time and tell me how much they liked my hair(cut)! I refuse to see anyone else to this day. Recently to change things up, I decided to grow my hair long again. Jeanine helped me through the ‘awkward’ stage of a grow out and now my long, crazy hair is only cut into shape by Jeanine. I can always count on walking out of her fantastic salon feeling better than when I walked in. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend her to anybody. I can also always count on her to be honest in her assessments of what looks good… or not. :-) On a personal note, I am much more comfortable in her one woman salon than some snooty BH place where you have to dress up and overpay to get a status hair cut. I think she’s the best there is.

Jeannine is the most amazing hairstylist in Los Angeles. She has a gift for cutting hair, and I feel so thankful that I found her. I’ve been going to her for six years now and I refuse to get my hair cut by anybody else. She is able to cut your hair so that it is fitted for your unique texture, color, and length. She gives hair cuts to all different types of people. Both me and my mother go to her, and we have totally different hair types and styles. I can go out any day without blowdrying or straightening, and my hair looks unbelievable cool. My hair makes me look like I just came off of the set of a Hollywood studio. I love it. About 6 months ago, I asked her to chop off about 6 or 7 inches of my hair for something totally new, and now I’m growing it back out. She’s been really great about helping me grow it out by not cutting off too much hair, but still giving me a new look when ever I come to see her. She even said that next time, she’s going to do some trick with my bangs to make my hair look even longer. She’s very creative and always fashionable. I would recommend her to anyone any day.

Jeannine is an expert at her craft. I highly recommend her to anyone who isn’t happy with their current haircut/style. The cost became prohibitive to me when I started cutting my hair short– I need to go in almost every 3 weeks. For the year and a half since my last cut, I have yet to find another stylist who can even come close.(i guess you get what you pay for.) I got tons of compliments on my haircut in the 3 years I went to Jeannine after first moving to LA. And, with every haircut I got, there was never anything to complain about. Looking forward to getting my haircut by her sometime in the near future… until then, I’ll suffer with average cuts.

Jeannine Brousseau, the owner/creator and sole-stylist at Freshen is literally the most talented, amazing stylist(and person) I have ever seen. I had my hair cut a week ago and it honestly took me a week to think of a review that was remotely worthy of the haircut she gave me. So here is my story about how I found her… I was at a birthday party a few months ago and met a girl that had the most gorgeous hair, just perfectly perfect(in that un-perfectly messy sort of way). I often see girls that have pretty hair, the cute type of hair I dream of having, the type that, I’ll admit, behind my sunglasses I’ll stop and stare, but never like this. This time it was just too perfect, it was the exact haircut I wanted; that Sally Hershberger«choppiness», that effortlessly gorgeous«just got out of bed» perfection. An opportunity I couldn’t let pass me by. I had to ask her«who, where, how???» Compliments flew out of my mouth at an alarming rate, but at the end of the evening I had a name; Jeannine Brouseau and Freshen Studio. By the way, I asked«how long does it take you to do your hair»; as the two hours I had spent flat ironing my hair was quickly proven by the salty(evil) beach air to be wasted time, she replied«oh nothing, I just wash it and let it air dry». oh really… I went home to Unilocal Freshen and; nothing? google(at the time) nothing? How could this be? How could this wonderful stylist be SO under the radar? Finally, after much stalking of the girl with the beautiful hair, I had a a number! and more importantly, an appointment! Before my appointment I googled«Freshen» one last time, and aha! an article! Heres the link: The article confirmed what I believed to be true, that i was going to see an amazing stylist! And I have to say I was quite impressed with my hair knowledgeability and being able to accurately identify a Sally Hershberger haircut, as Jeanine used to be a master stylist there(as per the article). A master stylist that used to get $ 300 a cut no less… so you see the caliber of stylist we’re talking about here. I went to see her and everything about my experience was just perfect(despite the fact I had to bring my daughter; but Jeannine was great about that too!). Her loft is adorable; right off of Santa Monica Blvd in West Hollywood, its in a great location, and removed from the sound of traffic. The space is intimate, she’s the only stylist, so it’s only the two of us. It was SO nice; no gossip around you, no one staring at your hair, no other stylist with their fake comments about how great your hair is– not that all salons are like that but, it was just really nice that it was only the two of us. And my hair, omg my hair is amazing, in every sense of the word. She spent two hours on my hair; two wonderful hours. She’s incredibly confident and doesn’t leave a strand out of place; she cut my hair both dry and wet and the results were beyond words. I used to have straight hair before I had my daughter, but after I was pregnant my hair became kind of curly; making it a huge pain to blow dry, and it couldn’t get it to look good air-dried. So I was just stuck with this kinda curly hair with no style. Not anymore; its awesome, I just let it air dry and it has style, I can curl it, I can straighten it, and it has choppy layers… it’s just perfectly perfect. And here’s the bonus, in 2 to 5 weeks I get a «freshen» for free(cut is $ 175)! She freshens up your cut for free, how cool of a concept is that?! As Jeannine says, it’s artistically gratifying for her, because she gets to gets to see your hair evolve, and yeah, I have to say it’s gratifying for me too :) I’m absolutely blown away that I’m the first to review Freshen, which only confirms the fact that; yes, I have found the holy grail… in terms of hair. Jeannine Brousseau is not only an incredibly talented artist and stylist, she is an absolute pleasure to be around, you can tell she enjoys what she does and it shows in her work. My hair has never looked better and I can look forward to it continuing to stay this way :)
