Cinemark 24 Jordan Landing and XD

I think I’ve been to these theaters just once and it was a decent enough experience. It was strange because my fiancée and I showed up on a $ 5-​Tuesday evening, but there was literally nobody around buying tickets or even in general. We asked the cashier why this ghost town situation was occurring on such a ridiculously popular (even ritualistic, at least for me) day of the week in this generally happening part of town. Apparently, we had just missed the herd of moviegoers that had gone in and out, and we were early enough for our movie that the next herd had not yet arrived to their preferred Tuesday-​night watering hole. It was a strange and pleasant experience.
There were multiple buckets of popcorn lying around in the bushes and on the ground outside.

I’ve lived a stone’s throw away from this theater for quite a while and yet only recently have my friends managed to drag me to a showing here. (I’m not a fan of movie theaters, I usually wait till the movie comes out on DVD). Though, occasionally my friends force me to tag along. We went to see Ant-​Man, and while it was a decent flick, there were many times during the movie where I could easily hear the other films that were being played on near-​by screens. Which, is to be expected at a theater, but this just seemed a bit less sound-​proofed than many of the other theaters I’ve been to. I also hate paying way more for two sodas and some popcorn than I do on the actual movie tickets themselves. For what we ended up paying, I could have gone to the store, bought a movie, a 6-​pack, and about 5 different kinds of popcorn and enjoyed the movie in the comfort of my own home where I could pause the show and empty my bladder whenever I wanted without having to rush back and whisper to my friends about what scenes I had missed. If you enjoy the big-​screen experience and love holding a full bladder through the intense ending, then this isn’t a terrible theater to go to. The theater itself is nice and clean with comfy seats to somewhat ease that feeling of: «I’mma wet myself right now after drinking that giant soda if I don’t use the restroom NOW, but oh, if I leave I might miss the Stan Lee cameo! I’ll guess I’ll just suffer through…»

Great movie theater, I like what they’ve done with the concession stand makes wait times less, this theater is always clean and kept up and staff is friendly, only complaint is the outside ticket booth not great in the winter time.

I don’t mind this place. It’s clean. It has movies. It has chairs to sit in while you watch movies. Only downside is it’s in the less LDS area of the valley so you’re not gonna find empty theaters on Sunday. Go back to church people!

I currently live somewhere around 9000 South and 4000 West. So when I want to go see a movie my first two choices are Cinemark 24 Jordan Landing or Megaplex @ The District. Most time I choose Megaplex, but I must add my two cents and explain why i’m giving this a 5-​star rating.
Let me mention this…
If there is a movie that is less mainstream there is a good chance you will find it here. I have noticed a few Bollywood films showing up regularly here. Today as I write this there is a movie called Spare Parts which is about some Latino student who enter an engineering competition. You can see that movie here and over at the Valley Fair Megaplex. This type of movie diversity may be caused by their having 24 screens. Or maybe it is driven by demographic. Whatever is causing it, I love it. The other type of movies you may see in this theater are independent lower budget type movies. The ones you typically have to drive downtown to the Broadway for. Finally the last type of thing you will see on the screens here are «Fathom Events,» live broadcasts of Met Opera performances. Pay Per View Events, there is special pricing for these type of events but can you imagine watching the fights on a movie screen? I haven’t done that yet, but I want to. Maybe the Manny/​Mayweather fight this upcoming May will be one I make a priority to attend.
I’m sure the condition of the theater and the quality of the snack bar are detailed in other reviews. I see a lot of movies and I definitely have my favorites. Cinemark 24 brings a different kind of heat to the valley. You can get the diversity of movies while at the same time getting the stadium seating and the nice digital video and great sound.
They best screen is called XD, alternate to the IMAX screens. XD is all about the sound, the screen is large and in that specific theater the seats are some type of leather/​pleather/​vinyl. In the summer don’t wear shorts or you’ll stick to the seat.
That’s all I have to say about this theater. If you wonder why it gets 5-​stars from me, you need to read the TL;DR paragraph you skimmed past.
One final thing, I think on Tuesdays at 7PM they play older classic movies. Not black and white all the time maybe something from the 90s/​80s or 70s. Movies that probably meant a lot to people at a certain time in cinema history. Check it out!

Can’t bring in your own food or drinks like other theatres no refills on large drinks very expensive concessions, no wonder I never come here

So disappointed. We had problems with the ticket kiosk (paid for 2 and had receipt but only one ticket came out), then when in our theatre you can hear so loud the sounds from the movies in the neighboring theatres. Very distracting. Especially if your movie isn’t an action flick and the one next store is, it’s bad. Theatre was clean which is why I gave it 2 stars but I would never go to this one again.

This has to be the first time I’ve ever had someone sitting in my seat. But other then that it’s great!

Nice clean theater, and there is hardly ever anyone here for early shows.

Concessions are beyond ridiculous here. Theaters always overcharge, but here you have to take out a second on your home to afford popcorn and drinks for your fam.
I like the location, and I like that it’s just a simple movie theater without all the crazy bells and whistles.

The theater is good always clean. Discount matinees. Lots of ticket windows and concessions. The ticket & concession prices are average. The one thing I don’t like is the parking. The parking is horrible. This is the main reason I typically steer clear of the theater.

This place is decent and has a bunch of screens. The seating is nice and comfortably recline. I prefer the megaplex theaters but this place is fine.
I know movie theaters are known for over priced drinks and popcorn but they charge noticeably more here.
This theater is getting a little older and some of the little things are getting neglected. Carpet looks older and stained in some areas and some decorative things are worn or broken. The bathrooms need the most attention, they look worn and often stink.

This theatre is good, but is starting to get a bit older. There are newer theaters in the valley that feel nicer and less sticky. For what’s it’s worth though, not a bad theater.

I love that this location has 24 screens, so it’s not difficult to get into a movie I’m dying to watch. The concession section is quick and they have a variety of goodies to choose from. Bathrooms are usually really neat with paper saving hand dryers only. I just wish I didn’t have to stand in line outside to purchase movie tickets when it’s cold. Guess I could always purchase tickets online, though.

Let me start out by saying: this is a very nice theater. Neat, attractively designed, and just plain huge. The seats are very comfortable and the screens plenty big, even in the smaller theaters.
The layout isn’t the most efficient, though. It sucks having to line up outside to buy tickets, so maybe skip it on a rainy day. And the way the concessions are laid out isn’t ideal, I haven’t been there on a weekend night though so I can’t speak to how well they handle crowds. They have additional concession stands in the side hallways that I’m sure can accommodate a lot more people. The layout of the stairs and seats in the theaters are kind of strange, too. Great place, though. Spacious bathrooms.

We came and saw ‘Lone Survivor’ here in the Xd theater on a Thursday matinée time. The place was a ghost town… so it was perfect! The prices are comparable to every movie theater around, but this place seemed much cleaner than the past few places I’ve gone.
The staff was great and very quick and attentive.
The sound was incredible in our theater. Every moment was just as intense as it should have been for a good action flick.
Seats were comfy and seemed larger than the normal ones.

I love this theater!
It is a little out of the way for me but it is my theater of choice for several reasons:
a) getting tickets is always fast even when you just show up because they always have multiple ticketing booths open.
b) the size of the snack service area means that you don’t have to wait in long lines to grab some popcorn for your flick
C) quality! The seats are comfortable, te sound is amazing. They keep the theaters very clean.
I think this is a great place to watch a movie!

There were too many drunk, foul mouthed patrons at the movie who talked the entire time. Several babies at a 10 pm show. I had to kick people out of our reserved seats.
The bathrooms were disgusting. Blood and other stinky things smeared on toilet.
Don’t think I will be back to this theater.

This is a decent modern theater. I absolutely LOATHE the new reserved seating where you have to choose your assigned seat before you even set foot inside! Several times I’ve ended up way too close to the screen or too far back because call me crazy, but I like to see the theater setup before choosing a seat. The movie snacks are just okay, their popcorn always tastes stale (they’ll pop a teeny amount of fresh popcorn to lure you in, only to proceed to mix it in with the old crap in the bottom of the popcorn machine). Parking is a bit difficult here as well since the layout of the shopping complex is weird (theaters and shops /​restaurants situated on an inside grid with parking along the exterior). It’s ok for a night at the movies but I wouldn’t go out of my way to attend this particular theater.

This particular Cinemark used to be my «local» back when I lived in West Jordan 5 or more years ago. This was one of the best cinema’s around when it opened. It was always great back then, and having just been to it again this last weekend can still say it holds its own.
There’s now more competition in the large cinema arena in the South end of the valley such as the Megaplex in the District and the new Draper cinema also.
Now I will admit, I am one who is very big on sound and picture quality in the movies. I personally couldn’t give a rats ass about food offerings etc (though you might find one if you dig deep enough through the pop corn) — I go for the movie! So it’s important to pick something that will do it justice when you are reviewing a particular movie establishment.
So with that said, in this case (get ready with the laughter) we go to see that fine cinematic treat known as «Ted»! Yeah, seriously. Uh-​ha!
One thing I did notice here while watching this particular «televisual feast» was the amount of noise coming from the adjacent auditorium. You could hear its sound well above our movie. In this case some would say that was a plus, and honestly it did just make me jealous of those watching whatever it was next door!
Fortunately, since this used to be my local, I can say in all reality it does have great sound and picture quality, even if it does seem to run crappy (yet sadly funny) movies that even the Riverton Megaplex (which I do prefer, but mainly since it’s now my local) fear to show when they are no longer the current box office favorites!
Overall though, still one of the best cinema’s in the South Valley area.

I come from a simpler time in cinema. A time when you bough tickets and watched a movie. When no one cared what kind of sound you had, what kind of food options were available, and the only stadium seating you cared about was at. well. the stadium. But times have changed and movie theaters have gotten big and brash. And this one fits that mold perfectly.
As the name indicates, you’ve got 24 screens available, so you’re going to find a pretty wide variety of first-​run movies available here. And the pricing is on par with other theaters around town. $ 6.25 for an early show, and $ 8.50 for the evenings (as of the time of this review.)
Parking is plentiful. Jordan Landing is a massive shopping area sprawled out over acres and acres, so they allotted plenty of space for people to park for the theater. You’ll hoof it on a busy weekend, but you probably won’t have to circle around and around.
The screens are nice and each theater itself is comfy. They have those rocking chair seats and they engulf your tush in only the most comfortable and appropriate way possible.
It’s big. It’s busy. But it’s nice and usually tidiy-​ish.
