This place is actually closed. They went out of business a while back, but it keeps showing up as open on the Unilocal list.

Mediocre food was overshadowed by poor customer service, and taking nearly ½ hour longer than promised for a takeout order. Man running the front counter has no business being in customer service.

I think they have gone out of business. The website would not accept our credit card(some message about merchant ID not active) so we decided to pay cash. 2 hours after ordering, no food had arrived. Then I called their number(seems to go to a call center), waited 15 minutes on hold waiting for a representative, and decided to have Chilis instead. It has been going downhill for ages, so oh well.

They renamed the place to San Sauce, but kept the same listing. Nothing really changed in the menu and they still serve Americanized Chinese food. The décor is still the same, and all the tables in our areas were a bit dirty. Service was very slow, as it took them about 15 minutes getting water to our table. We got some Fuji Beef, Singapore Noodles, and Shrimp Fried Rice. It took almost an hour to get the food out after we ordered. Now the Fuji Beef mentioned to have flat noodles at the bottom on their menu description, but when we received the dish, it only has some white crispy noodles that could hardly considered as noodles. Shrimp Fried Rice was not properly seasoned, and it was on the bland side. Singapore Noodles was very dark and salty with next to none usage of curry powder. I am not a huge fan for Americanized Chinese food to begin with, throwing in poor services and deceiving menus, I am not sure I have any reasons to revisit.

Ordered Assorted Seafood with Sugar Snap Peas that promised«shrimp, scallops & calamari». They had the shrimp right but included imitation crab and small pieces of fish. When we expressed our disappointment, we were told matter-of-factly, «Oh we must have run out» before walking away. Really? Of two ingredients? And this is your chef’s special? And they didn’t tell us beforehand? And that is how you handle it for us? And like the other reviews, we did wait a long time as well. The other dish we ordered was watery but tasted fine. Don’t bother with this place. There are plenty of Chinese alternatives, or other places in the area to choose from.

The food was ok, actually not so much. Service very slow, took forever to get anything and at least half the place was empty. Our server was not knowledgeable of the menu, asking him for a description of a dish resulted in either an incorrect answer(we found out when food arrived) or he had to go ask. The worst was the bathroom, disgusting! One stall toilet had the bowl completely filled with toilet paper and god knows what else and a used diaper on the tank! The other stall had no toilet paper. Had I not already eaten i would have lost my appetite. Had to get up to find our server and request the check, when it finally rather than continue waiting I took the bill directly to the front to get out of there!

Avoid. Change name/ownership wasn’t an improvement. This place was pretty bad. We ordered standard fair, nothing too adventurous. Cashew chicken, which was very watery and so bland as to be almost tasteless, and sweet and sour pork. The pork was extremely tough and hard. I think it was in a warming dish since the lunch menu. The food isn’t even the worst of it. The worst part was after dinner my spouse went to the bathroom and came back out stating there was no soap. He finally got the attention of the manager/waiter and was told that they didn’t know where it was!!! I really hope that they had an employee bathroom somewhere that I didn’t see, although I seriously doubt it, because that is just extremely gross and a heath violation. On top of everything else we were pretty much held hostage waiting for our ticket. Our server(again not sure what his actual role was) was sitting down at another table just chit chatting away. We had asked him for our check then minutes before he sat down at the table while he was sweeping the floor, right next to us mind you, and he nodded and then proceeded to keep sweeping. We finally got the attention of a younger gentleman who was much more attentive and got us our ticket straight away. I will never go back there.

Worst service ever. Will never go back. We entered the restaurant, waited for about 10 minutes to be seated. When we were seated we had to wait 10 min before getting a menu. The waiter asked for our drinks than left without bringing them for another 10 min. When he finally came back, without our drinks, we were able to order. After twenty min we were getting anxious so we asked where the food was. The waiter said let me go check. After a few more minutes he finally brings it out. THEWRONGFOOD. The waiter says ill get the owner and what does the owner do, he says I can make you another one. We had been waiting for about an hour and he expects us to wait again. Seriously he didnt even offer an apology. When my wife asks«Do you consider that a good solution?» He said«thats what im saying, you can keep it or you can wait.» We said leave the food and bring boxes because we had to go for the movie. Never again will I go there and I would tell everyone to stay away.

This place was much better under its original name. The food was bland and generic. The service was lousy. We had 5 people and they only gave us two menus and three sets of silverware and plates. I had to go get additional forks and plates. The food came out wrong and the waiter disappeared. By the time he showed up to correct it he just said oh that’s the right order, only to later state the chef was gone and he couldn’t have corrected the problem. The place was filled with smoke from the kitchen which was almost intolerable. The fans did not appear to be working. The bill was wrong and also had to be corrected. I will not be going back. There are better options nearby.

We’ve tried San Sauce a handful of times and have officially decided to not order again. I’m writing this after waiting 2+ hours for our food to be delivered. We figured maybe its slow going because its snowing outside, however, my husband just called and our food hasn’t even left the restaurant yet! The food has always tasted fine and we were«ok» with their 45 — 1 ½ hour wait but delivery has increasingly gotten slower every time we order. They shouldn’t offer delivery if they are unable to provide a good service.

A very pleasant surprise. Really good Chinese has always been tough to find. Not anymore! I was expecting the run-of-the-mill, deep-fried, slathered in gelatinous goo, typical of most Chinese places. From the excellent egg drop soup to the tantalizing lo mein to the spicy-savory szcechuan pork I was delighted. The service was quick and attentive, as well. The Mrs. and I will be back — soon.

I ordered through the online ordering system for delivery. As mentioned on another review — the online ordering is really poor. Very few pictures to assist in the process, and almost no descriptions of the food /meal you’re ordering. The wait time for delivery was okay at the quoted 45 minutes to an hour. HOWEVER, the actual wait time from the time I placed the order to the time it arrived at my door was 2 hours 10 minutes. Unacceptable. I ordered the Pork Chow Mein combination meal, and didn’t receive the Fried Shrimp, the Soup, or the Fried Rice. For my kids, I ordered a Chicken Fried Rice and a Beef Fried Rice. As an appetizer, I ordered the Egg Rolls. Food quality wasn’t fantastic, but it wasn’t poor either. After waiting for two hours for the delivery, I didn’t bother calling the store. I may write a complaint later. I don’t think I will be using this place ever again, but if I do — I will certainly NEVER use the delivery service.

I have ordered from San Suace one other time then tonight, and all was okay… but tonight completely changed my opinion on them. Worst customer service ever! They got my order wrong and forgot an item on my order tonight. When I called to let the restaurant know the girl who answered gave me complete attitude and hung up on. When I finally got a hold of the manager he didn’t seem too concerned. Gave me a food credit and pretty much sent me on my way! The juice isn’t worth the squeeze– we won’t be going back.

Dont bother with this place, It used to be Sampan. It was one of my wife and I’s favorite date night spots. It has changed hands and has gone down the toilet. The food is just average, but the service and wait time is atrocious. We waited for 45 minutes after ordering, for our food, missed our appetizers, missed our soup. we did get water with our check.

For our first date my boyfriend took me to see The Thing, and then suggested that we eat at San Sauce. I absolutely hate Chinese food, but not wanting him to dump me, I pretended to love the idea. «Oh yeah! I loved Sampan! Why did they change the name?» I replied with a fake smile. The whole movie I was dreading eating here. I kept repeating«I hate Chinese food» in my head. We arrived at San Sauce and a few of the people knew my boyfriend by name. I looked over the menu for something vegetarian. Being a vegetarian is hard when you hate vegetables! I finally settled on the veggie chow mien. The noodles were perfect and the sauce was insanely delicious!!! I crave that sauce constantly now. I wish they would have gone easy on the vegetables, but it was the veggie chow mien after all. The chow mien changed my view on Chinese food! Good things happen when you open your mind.

This restaurant used to be a Sampan, it has recently changed it’s name to San Sauce. Although not much else aside from the name has changed. Including the sub-par taste of their food. Just to clarify, I am a HUGE fan of Sampan. The 21st south location as well as the South Town restaurants offer quite delicious Chinese cuisine. However, the San Sauce in Jordan Landing is extremely mediocre almost to the point of being terrible for several reasons. And it only seems to be getting worse as the months go by The food: not bad, however it is not good. It doesn’t stand out nor is it on the same quality as the Sampan’s. It is extremely generic and excruciatingly bland. I’ve had better Chinese food pretty much everywhere else I’ve gone in the valley. Recently I had an order of chicken fried rice that was undercooked and tasted«funky» — like dish soap. The drinks: This is probably one of the biggest reasons I rated this place down from three stars to two. I am one of those people who gets incredibly irritated, almost to the point of offended, whenever I visit a restaurant and their soda is watered down. An inaccurate syrup/carbonated water ratio tells me one of two things, either 1) the management is inept and can’t follow the very simple directions provided by the soda manufacturer(in San Sauce’s case: Coca Cola) or 2) the management is cheap. In this case I would probably go with the latter of the two. The staff: every experience I’ve had here, which is quite a bit as I see movies at Jordan Landing at least every week, has resulted in good waiting. The waitresses are attentive but not annoyingly so, friendly, and my drink is kept full — for what’s it’s worth, despite the fact it’s a pitiful, cheap, watered down shadow of what it should be. The facilities: it used to be kept much cleaner. My past two visits I found a lot of the tables hadn’t been promptly bussed thus adding to an overall«filthy» feel. They do offer free wi-fi. And there are a few rather cool pieces of art hung up on the walls. In closing, I think there is a reason why this restaurant was disowned from the Sampan family. It simply wasn’t living up to the excellent standards set by the other Sampan restaurants. Yes I am currently the duke of this restaurant, and I tried, with all my strength, to give it an honest chance, however, after my experience with the dish-soap tasting fried rice this past Sunday, I have decided I will not be going back. The Dukeship is open to whomever wants it.

Love sampan, this location is okay, love the hot and sour soup. It is my favorite. I think I have tried everything on their menu and love it all. My wife says that the food isn’t spicy enough for her taste, she also loves the hot and sour soup. At this location I have had bad chicken once or twice. It is good service.

Sampan serves up fresh, well-prepared, traditional Ameri-Chinese food. The setting is cool and contemporary. The service is excellent. The prices are very reasonable. We usually have Sampan delivered(as long as we plan ahead for the 60 – 90 minute delivery time). We dined in this time and it was fantastic. The special combination was an amazing deal at $ 6.25 for soup or salad, egg roll or paper wrapped chicken, fried rice and entrée. Tons of food, especially for the price. The sauce was a little on the bland side until we added the hot sauce, which immediately kicked all the flavors into overdrive. The fried rice is perfect and the hot and sour soup is among the best in town with lots of little chunks of the good stuff. The veggies are always cooked to perfection, with a nice crunch! This isn’t the most authentic Chinese food, but it sure is tasty. They also have a pretty decent wine/beer list and their corkage is only $ 8 if you bring your own bottle.
