One of my favorite sandwiches to eat is a turkey, bacon, and avocado sandwich. We were out shopping one day in this particular bakery was right there where we were so we decided to have lunch. They had my favorite sandwich on the menu so indeed I ordered it. The sandwich was exceedingly delicious and it was much more than one person should eat. The bread is super fresh because it’s baked right there and they use delicious applewood bacon along with some marinated red onions and mayo on the sandwich. Every sandwiches was served with chips on the side and they were delicious as well. Even after eating a sandwich that was much too large for me to eat, I made a dash to this beautiful counter filled with all of these sweet baked goods that were amazing. There were cookies, cakes, specialty desserts, and all the homemade bread you would want. Everything we tried was simply delicious. Could not leave without taking a loaf of bread home for sandwiches and toast the next day.

They’ve come a long way from a little family-owned bakery. Still the same great desserts and breads, but with a completely new lunch/dinner menu. Lots of options, but I decided on the fairly basic deli club. Loved it! Will always continue to come here

This is a cute little restaurant at Gardner Village. They have so many items to choose from and their dessert items… well I could just eat them all! The sandwich was a turkey sandwich and was amazing! I will be back next time I am visiting the village :)

The thing I like best about this bakery is that it’s there! When you’re walking about Gardner Village it’s just super nice to be able to in, sit down, get a little soup, or a sandwich, or maybe even just a treat, and talk, munch and rejuvenate. The sandwiches are made on their own bread I assume, and while I’ve had one a couple of times, nothing really stands out in my memory, so, I think they are pretty standard fare. Not necessarily something you couldn’t make at home… but hey, you didn’t have to. If it’s busy, you order by marking what you want on a little menu sheet there at the counter. Recently I had a little cup of roasted red pepper soup, which came with some bread, I chose the honey whole wheat. The bread was soft and tasty and the soup was hot and had a good flavor. My husband tried one of the cookies, something chocolate dipped in chocolate with a funny name that was surprisingly moist. I always expect things in display cases to be dry. But it wasn’t! If you’re spending the day browsing, might as well stop in for a bite.

Perhaps it’s me willing this place to be better than it is, but I think we can put together enough positives to push this to a four-out-of-five status. First, it’s all about location. While I’m probably not exactly the target demographic for Gardner Village shops(wrong gender, no mommy blog, and I’m a terrible scrapbooker) you’ve got to admit that a little bakery and deli amongst some old historic homes turned into ki-yoot shops has a certain charm to it. There are surprisingly few dining options in Gardner Village and this is the come-as-you-are cute(and cheaper) option. It’s pretty simple in the deli department. A few simple sandwiches served on pillowy bread made fresh for you. Mostly meat with a cashew chicken salad option as well. Fill out your little order paper and hand it to the nice girl(I’ve never seen a dude working here) behind the counter. They’ve also got some decent soups and salads if you’re not feeling the sammie. I’ve never tried their pot pies but it’s an option. Fountain drinks and a few tables make a quick and lite lunch or dinner. For me, a bakery is all about the bakery case. There’s a lot to choose from here, but I’m still waiting to be wowed by something. I’ve dabbled in cookies and brownie bars, but it’s all been tasty but not spectacular. Still, there’s usually a nice variety of things available so everyone can find a mid-shopping snack that suits their tastes. Service was much improved yesterday from past visits, and the variety of baked goods seemed better, so hopefully this gradual improvement trend keeps moving. There’s so much potential here. A killer signature salad or out-of-the-box sandwich; a custom aioli or dessert of the month and they’d be on more solid 4⁄5 ground. As it is though, I never mind stopping by for a chocolate fill in the blank or a quick sammich.
