Good, clean, inexpensive lunch spot. Not world rocking or a healthy option but you can get two fresh cooked ten inch pizzas plus drinks for about $ 20. definitely one of the better options in westlake square. Pizza dough is crisp and not too sweet. Topping options pretty extensive. The roast cauliflower and roast whole garlic are delicious. I’m a creature of habit and I have my order here down pat now — it can be a bit bewildering the first time you come in. I probably wouldn’t have come back after my first time but my husband loves it and it has grown on me now I know what I like! They’re a bit cagey about their meat sources though so I stick to the veggie options here — this is Austin, I don’t expect people to be vegetarian(I’m not) but I like to know, if I’m eating it, that my meat was raised outside a cage and treated mostly respectfully.

Came in for lunch with a couple of friends. They offer toppings with no extra cost, which makes for easy modification of your pizza, hence the name MOD pizza. I’d compare this place to a higher end pizza version of subway. The employees were very friendly and energetic. The food was great and the ambiance was casual and friendly. I’ll definitely be back.

I like the concept, but the kids serving the food are all over the place. They were not especially busy but they passed off pizzas for no discernible reason and were dropping/moving toppings everywhere. I ordered gluten-free crust and it was only the first girl(seemed maybe like a manager?) who even seemed to know anything about it. Luckily, their obvious cross contamination didn’t make me sick, but others should beware.

Great pizza and salads. It’s gross, though, that people let their kids STAND on the counter where people order their food. That’s just bad manners. Maybe they can fix it so that’s not an option.

I think what bothers me about DIY pick-your-own-ingredient places is they take away half the fun of my total restaurant experience — I either want to understand & applaud some chef’s culinary vision, or discreetly puke it up. It’s like any other art. But I get why people love MOD Pizza, especially if they’re around seven years old: You pick from a zillion toppings, there are lots of drink options, and it’s easy to get wide-eyed & excited with all your choices. I was actually semi-thrilled paying $ 9.68 for my mini-pizza & salad, a good deal at a good price. But it’s also easy to go snark here — «Hey, It’s the Yard Bar of Westlake Kids,» or «Dude, just pick a frigging beer.» But I’ve searched my feelings, and let go of my hate. Tell me this: Was Pizza Hut a big part of your life? Ever do a Shakey’s? MOD Pizza is your hip & cool 21st century reboot, and they have it down with seven-checklist corporate precision. Absolutely nothing wrong with that. Everything has its place.

I’ve been to MOD pizza twice, each time on my lunch break and I must say that their mini pizzas and mini salads are the perfect amount of food for a good price and phenomenal flavor. Sam(a MOD employer) is the best! She knows the true definition of customer service and provides an awesome experience. You rock Sam! –the girl with the purple glasses in scrubs

So I noticed that there have been multiple MOD Pizza locations popping up around town, all in a matter of a few months. With the Unilocal reviews for said locations being generally good, pizza being boyfriend’s favorite thing, and a MOD pizza location being near boyfriend’s house, it was clear that we were meant to try this place. The concept is simple: you choose what size of pizza you want. The sizes range from 6″ in diameter for a mini to 11″ for a mod. There’s also a mega mod, which is apparently two 11″ crusts(or something like that). Upon choosing your crust size, you choose your sauce, cheese, meats, and other toppings as you walk through the line. If this is too overwhelming for you, you can choose from some of MOD’s pre-set combinations and modify it, or not. Note: you only pay one price for the size of the pizza and can add as many toppings as you want for free. Freeeee! It’s like a subway/how do you roll/freebirds type of place for pizza, but they don’t charge extra for toppings. What’s not to love? The lovely pizza creator lady and the nice man that checked us out were both extremely friendly. The staff seemed to genuinely enjoy working there. This isn’t usually something that is important to me when going to a food establishment, but it was certainly nice to see. Generally, as long as servers aren’t blatantly rude to me and don’t spit in my food, I’m cool with them. On to the pizzas — I got a mini with white sauce, mozzarella, chorizo(yes, chorizo!!), Rosemary, basil, Gorgonzola, and feta. It was downright phenomenal. I mean, I figured it would be good, but it was seriously splendid. On the MOD pizza website they claim that if you don’t like your pizza(due to all of the crazy toppings you went overboard with, which, trust me, can be really easy to do) they’ll make you a new pizza at no charge to you. This seems a little crazy to me. I mean, people gotta learn restraint with their toppings. Boyfriend ordered a barbecue chicken pizza and it was really delicious also. We then split their garlic sticks(mini pizza with garlic topping and cheese) and red sauce. Boyfriend also ordered a chocolate shake. It was good, but I’m more of a malt girl myself. Overall,(if you can’t already tell from my overly excited and excessively long review) this place is glorious.

Great concept but extremely short staffed on this Friday night at 8pm. 3 people on the line one of which was running the oven and the register. Over 15 min to order and the patio was filthy. Trash can over flowing. Trash blown all over the area. If management doesn’t address this, it won’t last.

interesting concept and I feel like it is probably closer to four stars than the three that I awarded it — except for the fact that I am not really feeling the pull to return there. But maybe I need to give it a second shot? I got the pizza and I was cautious to not overload it with too many ingredients. The wife got her toppings in the form of a salad. I think she enjoyed hers more than myself — but it was pretty decent pizza — so i don’t know why I am not being more generous with my rating?

MOD pizza makes me happy. Tasty pizza, crispy crusts, a great assortment of toppings, and wine/beer! I’ve found that they have something for everyone, and their flat rate model for pizza customization takes the guesswork out of toppings. Salad leaves are fresh, with a good assortment of dressings. Service is friendly, though I could do without the cashier calling me «baby». Tip: The line for Friday dinners can be long, so prepare for a 30 minute wait in line if the line is all the way to the door. Note to store: Could you fix the fence’s gate in your outdoor seating area? It bangs with vengeance every time someone opens and closes it. Maybe some soft-close or dampening so that the customers seated next to the gate don’t cringe every time someone approaches it?

Just had lunch at MOD. Folks working there were very upbeat and proactive explaining their model. Pizza came out very fast and it was good. Only complaint is it was really cold inside. Raining hard outside and cold inside wasn’t great. Will be back again.

The wait to get this pizza is not worth it. Waiting in line is not for me. No table service. I want to sit at a table and have a drink and enjoy my night out while I wait for a pizza. Boo!

I have nothing bad to say about MOD Pizza. The food here is excellent, the service here is excellent, and at the risk of sounding like a broken record — the atmosphere is excellent. Who doesn’t love pizza? Even better — who doesn’t love getting EXACTLY the kind of pizza you want? MOD Pizza is a build your own pizza place with great predesigned options too. What’s more — the price doesn’t change if you add more toppings. You could absolutely make a pizza with ALL the things. They even offer a cheese only(the Maddy) for a discounted price, so if that’s your thing go for it! All the ingredients are fresh, and there’s a great selection to choose from. All in all, delicious thin crust pizza can definitely be found here. When you walk in the door you are immediately greeted by everyone behind the counter. Everyone. That may not sound like a big deal, but I hate walking into a place and feeling invisible until I’m right in front of someone. Both times we’ve been here I’ve felt like the people putting together our pizzas were attentive and helpful. The staff in general is just great. Friendly customer service is a huge selling point for me. The fact that multiple employees came by our table to check in on us was unexpected, and awesome. I really appreciate their attention to their customers and their experience. Also — big ups for free pizza for moms on mother’s day. The restaurant itself is a good place for a meal. Love that you can sit inside or out. The open garage door to the patio is a nice touch. Since the patio is fenced in, and the patio was so open it was a great way for us to let our son run around a little while keeping an eye on him from our table. Definitely enjoyed the laid back atmosphere where we could just relax and have a stress free meal with our family. So go show the friendly faces at MOD Pizza some love this week — they deserve it!

The food here is great, and the pizza is good value. Salads are a little pricey. As with any newly opened place the queue is very long, at 7pm today it was over 20 minutes. I’d recommend to management that this is an easy fix — the salad station was also taking the pizza order, writing it on a sheet of wax paper, which the rest of the people in the service line ignore and ask again. Relieving the salad station of this redundant effort would help a lot. One British nit pick — the place has a Sex Pistols theme, but the Union Flag on the staff T-shirts has the N Ireland diagonals wrong. Pet peeve of mine.

We stopped by yesterday on their official grand opening day. Things were festive with balloons, greeters, a photo booth, samples, etc. They were surprisingly fast given how packed they were on their first official day open. We got three pizzas for our family of 4, next time we might need 4. My 5 year old really wanted to order a second mini pizza before we left, which is really very rare because he normally eats like a bird. They have a mini size for the kiddos which is $ 4.47 and the MOD size for the adults is $ 7.47. The prices are very fair. They also have salads, which I’m looking forward to trying. The service was fantastic, they had plenty of staff and were constantly checking on us and coming by to take away our trash for us. The only reason for the 4 stars is I felt they went pretty light on the toppings; next time I’d like to see the toppings more equally distributed throughout my pizza. Their house lemonades and iced teas are a nice touch. I really enjoyed the caramelized pear iced tea, just the right sweetness. They also have local craft beers on tap; I’ll be sure to grab one of those next time. Love the patio area, and I can see my family having many dinners out there in the years to come. Such a great addition to Westlake! Update: they were super swamped when I tried to come for lunch yesterday, the wait to order pizza was short but then it sat and waited for space in the oven and it took a very long time for it to come out. I would have appreciated a warning on the front end that the kitchen was very backed up or an approximate wait time. I felt bad for the 1 – 2 employees at the back who were responsible for slicing and calling out the names for the finished pies, they were struggling! I hope they will work through this growing pain soon, but for now, I’m avoiding this place during the lunch rush.

MOD Pizza just opened up in the former location of Hangtown Grill this weekend. After my family’s first visit there tonight, our super-picky-eater 5 year old is already making plans to make a weekly tradition out of this place. And I really can’t say I’d be against that. The pizza crust here is thin and crispy and you’ve got free reign on whatever toppings you want without affecting the price. On the wall they list a variety of pizza base options. I went with the«Dillon James» and added mushrooms, salami, and spicy sausage. Pretty darn delicious and given the thin style crust, the cook time of the pizza doesn’t take long at all. Definitely a welcome addition to the neighborhood!
