***NOTE: Since I don’t see the Canby Game Star store on Unilocal,I am posting my review here on this location’s site. After reading the reviews of the West Linn store, seems like the problem I experienced is systematic, so I suppose it doesn’t matter where I post my review. My experience at the Canby location this morning: Went in with my son and he found a used game he wanted to buy. I took the game from him and took it to the counter and handed it to the clerk. He took the game, located the proper disc, everything seemed fine. When I go to look at my receipt, I see that there is a SECOND game in my bag and that I was charged for that was NOTMINE. I never handed him that game, he just grabbed it from the counter. When I told him that it was not mine, he said he could only offer me a store credit. Given that I don’t live near Canby, that was not very convenient for me, and I DIDNOT intend to purchase that game that he snuck into my bag. I was told that he could not refund my money to my card that I just paid with 30 seconds before. I was told that he could also not refund me with cash. Certainly, to any reasonable person, that is completely ridiculous. I believe that they are running a scam at Game Star.(See other reviews about sketchy return policies, price-doubling upon using store credit, etc.) It wasn’t the money. It was the principle. I don’t like going to a store, making a purchase, just to have the store STEAL from ME. The second game that was added by the clerk to my purchase was a game for a platform that I don’t even own, so it is not usable to me anyhow. I asked if I could transfer the store credit to a friend who lived in the area and was told that I could only do that if I created an account, which the clerk told me would take«awhile» because of all the information they need to collect. I declined, since I didn’t want to give any of my «information» to a shady place like this. I LEFT the game that they sold me without my knowledge(Yes, I take responsibility for not catching it before I signed receipt) and did not take the store credit because I did not desire to set up an «account». Exceedingly disappointed. Neither my son nor I will ever use a Game Star Rip-Off location again. Please be warned. They will quite literally steal your money.

BIGPROBLEMWITHTHISPLACE! So my brother goes to visit the store for the first time and I tag along of course. Please looks great and they’ve got everything you could ask for. My brother gets his game and we go home. WELL, after we get back home, my brother opens his game to find that the disc is thoroughly scratched up and doesn’t play. Problem #1: They sold him a faulty product. We return to the store, same day, to get his money back. They do not give him his money back but offer in-store credit. Not ideal but that’s understandable. Problem #2: Full refund not given. Days later, we return to use his in-store credit to get a different game. I wait outside of the store. My brother comes out, gameless, and goes on to tell me that if you are using any in-store credit, the price of the game you are trying to purchase is DOUBLED! Problem #3: Hidden policies and catches that ripoff the customer. In short, my brother went to get a $ 30 game, was given a broken disc, was forced to return it for $ 30 in-store credit, and went to buy a different $ 30 with his in-store credit only to find the price was $ 60 for a used game. If you need to just go buy a game and nothing else this store is fine, but when it comes to trade ins and communication with customers, STAYFARAWAYANDJUSTGOTOGAMESTOP.

They are in the business of buying, selling, and trading video games, consoles, and accessories.(They have multiple locations, and there just wasn’t a Unilocal page for this one.) Anyway, we walked in to browse their selection of 3DS games, because… well, why not? Unfortunately, they didn’t have a big selection. They had mostly DS games only. But I did get excited when I saw… N64 games! They have a few on the shelves, and they had even more behind the counter. The prices are a bit expensive, though, for some games, while others were priced about right. The employees were courteous. They greeted us when we entered, as well as when we left. Overall, it was a good experience. I just wish more people would sell or trade their 3DS games(Luigi’s Mansion — hint, hint), so I can buy one I like!
