The two guys working here right now, 3÷31÷156:44 pm, prime dinner time, are working as slow as molasses. Ordered two slices of pizza for my daughter and a Calzone for myself. Her pizza came out 20 minutes ago, still waiting for the Calzone. I guess these geniuses don’t understand the concept of bringing food for the whole table together. Oh by the way, the place is empty but let’s not rush these highly motivated buffoons. The guy in the glasses has no idea how the menu works, over charged me for my Calzone and when I asked him about it he just didn’t comprehend what I asked him and just continued to mumble so I dropped it, it wasn’t worth a couple of bucks to talk to this guy any more. I have decided to get the calzone to go, I sure hope they didn’t screw it up. Hey owners and managers, customer service is not hard, please don’t put people front of house if they cant communicate at at least a fifth grade level.

Here’s an updated review. I haven’t seen any girls lately but there was this guy working there, talking on his phone and didn’t even say he would be right with me or ask if I had any questions… I was then ready to order and he didn’t even say sorry or thank me for my business. It’s such a shame considering I work in the same shopping center. I don’t think I’ll be coming back just because of the customer service aspect

Crappy service. The pizza was decent. I like thin crust, but this was a little too thin even for me. We went there for two slices, some breadsticks, and a soda and water. After waiting for the teenage cashier to finish her conversation with her friends, we placed our order. I had to ask for a few things that hadn’t been re-stocked lately(napkins, drinking straws, a fork) and the young girl working there was rude. I had to interrupt her conversations with her friends in order for her to help me. When I did, she acted as if I was the one being rude. Our breadsticks arrived about 15 minutes after we finished our pizza. By that time, I was done with my experience. I have no intention of going back.

Salad was not great. $ 9.00 for a Greek salad white lettuce. Come on you can build a better salad for the price.

I hate to be negative, but we have been there three times since this restaurant has come under new ownership. I will quote from one of my favorite shows«The Profit.» People, process, and product are what makes a business. The staff is OK. The high school aged workers have been friendly, but somewhat aloof to what the term service means. On our first vist, part of our order was forgotten(the wings), and was not ready until we finished the meal and it was time to go. The second time we went, we waited at the counter for about 2 – 3 minutes while the person working at the counter finished up a conversation that seemed to be more of a personal call than business. Then when we went to order, they were all out of pizza except for cheese pizza(This was mid day on a sunday), and although they advertise that they have ribs, they were not available on that day because no one had started the smoker. Today when I went in there was someone from what appeared to be Let Schwab waiting for an order that was most likely called in and appeared to be waiting on the counter, but there was no one at the counter. After I had even waited 3 – 4 minutes and the customer who was waiting before me asked me if there was a bell or something, I decided to leave. My hesitations continue to be confirmed when service continues to fail. I want this business to be successful, but I really wish they could revisit some thoughts on how they conduct their business.

Something’s up with this place! Very shady biz! :( So I went there at 1:30 p.m. on 6÷1÷2014 — I ordered 2 pcs pizza with a soda. He said, «$ 6» but he charged me $ 6.50. I ate there, I was there about 20 — 25 minutes and there was no one else when I got there. Unfortunately, they didn’t give my back credit card(I blamed myself for this but…). I called them at 11 a.m. the next day, a young lady said, «if it was here, it will be right in front of me.» The background voice(a guy) said something about he had it some where(oh great). So I said, «Great, I will come and get it at 4 p.m. She then said that they are going to check first. So I waited on the phone about 30 seconds before she said, she will call me when they find it(she asked for my #). So I waited about 20 minutes, I called back, she made a snooty comment that I said I was gonna come and get it at 4! HELLO, that was before you said you were gonna call me when you find my card and why did you ask for my #. Sigh! I got there around 4 to pick my card, I asked her why didn’t they give my card back to me, I mean, if I didn’t eat there and left my card, OK that is one thing but I ATETHERE, and was there for a while. She got all defensive and kept saying that it wasn’t her and she wasn’t there on Sunday! For some reason, I felt uneasy with this situation. So I walked next door to my bank, changed my card #… For the pizza — it was all the same, we call it «kiddy pizza» just like the last 2 previous owners that went out of business.

At what point does a business become a business? ** The name on the building changes ** The website is updated ** The original store’s coupons are no longer honored Well one out of three… I’ll let you guess which one took place first. I don’t mean to be a Debbie Downer here, but as a local I can’t overlook a few simple truths. After the very public falling between the original owners of Mean Street Pizza, a local family bought out the surviving partner, then renamed the business Island Sams Pizza. Or did they? This all took place around January and the new owners even had a Super Bowl Party with fun and games under a large tent in the parking lot to launch the new business. Then months went by and things on the outside didn’t really change. As of today, the building still says Mean Street Pizza, as does the website, etc. and so on… The only way to know that this is Island Sam’s and not Mean Street is word-of-mouth, their new Facebook page and that they stopped honoring Mean Street’s coupons. So even though Island Sams has kinda sorta been open for five months, the Unilocal business listing is new. I’ve had about a half dozen visits during that time. Overall it has been positive and my boys like their pizza, although I have encountered a longer than expected wait for basic items that should usually be ready to go(a slice of cheese pizza) or my pizza orders placed in advance by phone. They have Pepsi products in the soda dispenser(although only one size of cup available), bottled drinks in the fridge and beer on tap. On my most recent visit, the wait time was clearly conveyed and handled well by the counter staff. On a prior visit, another customer(a mom with young children) expressed her dismay at the wait time for an order she called in and upon leaving the staff talked about her… in front of me. Not cool. Hence the medium rating. Equal parts for the food, the bumps in the road during this oddly long ramp up to being fully in business, and the inconsistent customer service. That, and I really miss using all of my Mean Street coupons. To end on a positive note, the food and drink menu appears to be expanding and changing for the better. And I do like the interior, which is a bit more family and group friendly, after the renovation with lots of flat screen TVs for sports programs.

My husband and I celebrated our 15th wedding anniversary here a few weeks back! The owners treated us to a wonderful night of food and drink and even surprised us with a personalized cake! We tried things on and off the menu! I was so stuffed when I left but I was so happy we chose Island Sam’s to celebrate at! Thank you for making our night so special Avi and Terrance!

I love this place. The food is awesome. The service is outstanding and the new look here is amazing. The staff is warm and friendly. They are really happy to see you and do anything to make your dining experience the best it can be. The food is the best in this area. Hot and fresh. Made to order. As a chef, I highly recommend Island Sam’s as a place you must try to believe. I also share every post I get to get the word out.
