So this is a very weird review. We went here at 11:30 am on Sunday Fathers day for brunch. I ordered the California eggs Benedict which had tomato, avocado and bacon on it and home fries I asked«Please make sure the egg whites are cooked»(this can sometimes be a problem with poached eggs). I asked the waiter if there was any sauce on top of them(Regular eggs benedict come with Hollandaise sauce on them but this isn’t normal eggs benny so I asked) he said no. Ok perfect. My step daughter ordered a cheese burger and my husband got the corned beef breakfast which also had poached eggs on top. There was only 1 other table there eating. After about 10 minutes the cook comes out and asks if I only wanted egg whites. I said no I just wanted to make sure the whites were cooked. He said ok then goes back in kitchen. 10 — 15 minutes later the food comes out. My eggs were covered in Hollandaise sauce. I said«You said there was no sauce on this» and the waiter replied«It is not a sauce, its the egg yolks»(my husbands poached eggs were fine and had no sauce) but after 30 minutes I am just going to eat my food. Then I asked for Ketchup for the hash browns(which they were pretty skimpy on) and I was told they ran out! OK if you run out of ketchup because of a big concert they had last night I am told. Send a bus boy to the supermarket to buy a couple of bottles of ketchup! My step daughters burger was burnt extra well done I asked her how she ordered it and she said the waiter never asked. So she has to eat a burnt dry hamburger and can’t even put ketchup on it or dip her french fries in ketchup. Ok so while my husband gets the bill I go up to the front hostess and asked if there was a manager I could speak with. I stood there for about 5 minutes when my husband and step daughter come walking out. The waiter went up to my husband and said the chef took care of the whole bill. My husband just said OK left a tip and left. I never did get to speak with the manager(which I am going to guess was the chef as well because there was not many people there) however, he did not bother to come out to me so I could tell him what the issues were. Bottom line we won’t be back.

No AC on inside during the summer made for a very hot brunch, food just OK, agree with previous reviews on cold coffee-so many other great restaurants around, won’t be back

We had dinner there the other night and were very impressed. From the manager to our waiter, Robert, the service was excellent. Food was cooked to perfection. Our waiter was very accommodating. Will definitely go back next time we are in the area.

Worst food ever. The Shrimp Po’boy was served on a cheap tasteless steak roll, the kind you’d find in plastic bag on the bread shelf at a grocery store. The shrimp was fried dark brown in what tasted like old overused oil. The Shrimp & Grits were greasy. The Beignet was dense, fried near black in what I assume is the same oil used to fry the shrimp; either no powdered sugar or completely absorbed by the grease. Two surrounding restaurants were packed and I now understand why there was literally no one in this restaurant. It’s a shame. When this one closes they have no one to blame but themselves. My first review ever but I was compelled by my frustration that I wasted my $$ on a meal for 2 that went straight in the trash.

I’m a regular here and the staff treats me like family … The food is always good and they have the best Mac N Cheese it’s so good that the only thing that could top it is my momma’s and they’re pork belly is out of this world one of the best apps at such a decent price. Happy hour had 3 $ coronas and the best drink to have on a hot day is a play on vodka Collins but with fresh cucumber and cucumber vodka. Chef Sean is awesome at what he does and I’d recommend this place to anyone!

Awesome food and bar! The cucumber Collins is the best drink here and is very refreshing. I was not disappointed with the lobster Mac and Cheese and crab dip appetizer! All made fresh and hot when delivered. Try the Abita beer bread on the side to dip in cheese and crab fondue. Delicious! Not to mention the great live music on weekends! Definitely a great spot to bring friends.

Slowest service on earth. We got oysters and the used plates and oyster dish sat on the table for ½ hour. Even brought out salads and didn’t take dirty dishes. It is no mystery that City place is packed and no one is in here. We should have known better. Shame, because the food is ok

Amazing! Went here for a birthday dinner on a Saturday night and boy was it fun and delicious! This use to be BB Kings, so there are two different rooms. We were at the wing that faced the Himmel center. The layout was spacious, but really no room to dance, even in front of the band. The live band that night was awesome! They played pop, rock and soul hits of all the decades! There was a big group of us so this definitely a cool place to hang out with such a large party. The drinks were ok. Not too much craft cocktails and the beer menu wasn’t easily available. My favorite part was the food. We got the Abita Shrimp and buffalo chicken pizza! Amazing! The Abita shrimp is barbecued and served in a skillet with a dark sauce made with Abita beer! Abita beer cornbread was served with it. I would dip some of the buffalo chicken pizza in this sauce! It was that good :) I was so sad when the meal was over! I can’t wait to go back and try their jumbalaya pasta. Defiantly let your palate try this southern soul food place and let your ears hear some good music. Can’t go wrong with this place !

Cool place. Good live music on a Thursday night. Crap dip was hot and amazing. Bartender Kayla was awesome and took care of us. Great drink and app spot.

This is the worst establishment that I have ever visited. I had an open table reservation and clearly advised the hostess. Despite spending $ 92 on my Visa they notified Open Table that I did not show. I started ordering a bottle of wine at 6PM and after 15 minutes was notified by server that they ran out. I reordered another bottle of wine and only after 15 more minutes the server came back and stated that they are also out of that choice. I had to call a manager over, who finally took care of me with a bottle after a 35 minute wait. Crab dip was cold. Seems like they depend on a microwave to heat up their dishes from a cold refrigerator. Do yourself a favor and stay away. I attempted to reach a manager tonight and I knew the guy on the line was not the manager. When I questioned him about my service, he knew nothing and covered that the manager was not available. You would receive better food and service from a cafeteria. They are the worst of the worst! Milton K

Just watched the Oscars at Lafayette’s w delicious Gin Collins and champagne and oysters. Had the blackened mahi mahi over corn risotto it was quite delicious! Also a great music venue and available for events I was interested for an upcoming private show we were planning. Nice atmosphere, stage and flow in the music space! Looking forward to seeing a show here soon. Go Leo!

I agree with Mitch’s review. I was excited to try this place but it wasn’t so great. We sat at the bar with some friends. The staff was either not trained well at all or extremely apathetic. Service was incredibly slow, and not customer friendly. They have a discount for vodka drinks for happy hour, for example. We asked to have it up, like a martini and were told it would have to be at regular price so they gave it to us on the rocks. Makes no sense. Then one of our group saw tequila on happy hour and asked if they could add lime juice to the tequila to make it like a margarita. The bartender said no again. They said that the alcohols on the happy hour could be mixed with something as a well or call drink but that mixing with sweet n sour would make it a margarita, which is not on happy hour. The sweet n sour, or lime juice is probably the same cost as orange juice or some other mix they would think is acceptable. Just like a martini up has the same cost to them as a martini on ice. Ridiculous. Then we ordered 2 appetizers, mac n cheese and waffle fries. The place was empty and our food still took half an hour. We asked the bartender a couple of times and once she told us it wasn’t ready, without going to check and the other time she just walked away and started cleaning something. After 30 minutes I had to go flag her down, and she went into the kitchen and they were ready of course. We also went empty on drinks for a while and couldn’t get her attention or the guy’s attention. Then after food was done and drinks were empty for a while, we waited forever for them to bring us a check. She simply never came by and either ignored or didn’t see our waving arms. Again, we nearly had to make a scene just to get our check. Then she brings the check and walks away and doesn’t come back for a while to get the money. Just awful service. The food was good though, even though it seemed like it had been under a heat lamp for a while. Recommendation to management: Train staff to focus on creating a great guest experience. I think they are more focused on silly rules that are perhaps meant to save the restaurant money, but don’t make any logical sense and leave customers feeling like they aren’t valued.

Great location for eating outdoors. Came on Monday night and enjoyed the live band. Happy hour all night with $ 3 beers, $ 4 wines and $ 8 meals(sliders, chic tenders, small pizzas, etc). All in all not bad for the $$. Wanted something light and decided on the gumbo, which is new for the menu. Def not New Orleans style. Overloaded with sausage and no seafood to be found. Waiter apologized and that was that. They should call it sausage gumbo! Also, Despite asking in advance to be served hot it came lukewarm and need to go back for reheating. Stick to the specials and you’ll do okay.

Lafayette’s. With the recent addition to the outside portion of the restaurant/bar it looks amazing with that red and green lighting, at night it really stands out with other nearby restaurants and bars. Food is decently priced and its literally right next to the theater. So after you are done, you can head to the movies or even walk in Downtown City Place. Sadly in the inside portion of the restaurant where the stage is. There should be a screen on the wall or nearby pillar in which it shows the ‘Band’s Name’ and/or the person ‘Singing’ on stage. It would be a nice feature to have. Tip: If you spend more than $ 50 dollars, bring your receipt to the cashier before you leave the parking lot, and you don’t need to pay for parking.

I think there are still a lot of kinks to work out here. We had a reservation and getting seated was an issue even though the place was half empty. The band was very good so the review is not based on the music. There is not real dance floor so it’s awkward for people to stand up and dance wherever. The food is below average as are the drinks. The shrimp, Mac and cheese and magi all fell flat. Service was good but this place will need to step up the food and dance if it’s going to last.

It’s very infrequent that I will find a restaurant worthy of a bad review however this was one of the saddest displays I’ve experienced in quite some time. «Brunch» was being served and recommended by the greeter. Mine started out with lukewarm coffee which I returned and was replaced with hotter coffee that I would bet was instant. If it wasn’t instant then instant would have been a step up. I ordered an omelet with Feta, spinach and onions(I’ll add a $ 12.00 omelet) that tasted okay but would have still been only okay if priced at $ 5.95. It was presented on a plate which displayed the trail of oil or butter where it as slid onto the plate. The pièce de ré·sis·tance was the side dish of slimy fruit. Picture browning pineapple chunks and just a nasty film on all of it. It should have been thrown out the day before… In a area with fierce competitors such as City Cellar, Cheesecake Factory, and Copper Blues right across the way, these folks need to step up their game a whole lot.

Wowza! This place has it all. Lafayette’s just opened in CityPlace. The location is upstairs across from Muvico and the popular Improv, serving indoor, outdoor drinks and dining. Stopped in for Happy Hour, and 3-hours later I’m still rockin’ to the vibe. Great house drinks, etc. at Happy Hour, but the Abita BBQ Shrimp with home made«dipping bread» is delightful, but for this Southern Girl, the side of Cheddar Cheese grits in it’s a personal black skillet brought tears to my eyes! Highlight is the house band, mellow contemporary South Florida Super Stars has an upbeat rock sound. Plus, Emily Piriz(American Idol) vocals speak to your soul. Must do. Gotta Check It Out. Don’t Procrastinate!

This place is excellent!!! The service is great and food is delicious. Decently priced with a great happy hour. Very generous and heavy handed on the drinks. Band was very good. Excellent acoustics and talent. Will absolutely be back. Sad to see King leave but this is most deff a worthy exchange!!!

This is our first time here and wow– everything is to die for! The Jambalaya rice is out of this world, perfectly seasoned and not too spicy. The Abita BBQ shrimp is outstanding– I love me some fresh shrimp and this one takes it. These are jumbo shrimp– sweet and delicious! The BBQ sauce definitely reminds me of home– yknow the impromptu home gatherings with the family and BBQ at the backyard. And for dessert– I had the Chocolate pie. I’d say baked from scratch– I checked their Menu and it definitely is! It’s so good, I ordered an extra one to go. :P The staff is very welcoming and warm, they’ve checked our table about 3x for refills and made sure that everything was to our satisfaction. It’s our first time here and definitely not the last!
