Summer Of Steak: LongHorn – West Palm Beach

I arrived at the restaurant and was greeted by Blue. At 7PM, Blue escorted us to our dining are. I sat with three other Unilocalers, two of which were elite members. On each table were Unilocal swag items which included bottle openers, key chains and lovely red sunglasses, all engraved with the word Unilocal.We each had a menu in front if us
The waiters first brought us four appetizers… wild west shrimp, corn fritters, soft pub pretzels and fried green tomatoes. Each appetizer came with an appropriate dipping sauce. All were simply delicious. We were allowed one alcoholic drink and unlimited soft drinks including hot tea and coffee.
The second course, we had the option of soup or salad. I took the bacon and tomato salad. Again very good.
The third course was a choice of entrée and one side. I chose the 18oz cowboy bone in rib eye with a loaded baked potato. The steak was cooked to perfection and seasoned perfectly. The baked potato was stuffed with cheese and herbs among other goodies.
Shaun, the manager came over to each table showing us the different types if steak served and explaining marbling and cooking techniques. He told us to pay close attention to his presentation as we would later be quizzed. Well later we were and prizes were given out to the first three who had the most correct answers. I did not win the top prize of the $ 30 gift card to the restaurant but I did win a drinking flask.
After the entrée was finished, the waiter brought out a huge slice of chocolate stampede cake served with vanilla ice cream, chocolate syrup, chocolate mousse and whipped cream. I was just about to burst from the seams when the waiter brought out a second dessert… a lemony butter cake with lemon frosting topped with blueberries. I finished my meal with a hot cup of coffee. The desserts were fantastic.
I had a marvelous time. Met alot of Unilocalers. Made new friends.

I was invited as part of Unilocal’s Summer of Steaks to a wonderful event at this marvelous restaurant. Once I entered this restaurant, I was checked in warmly by Blue. At 7PM, Blue showed us where to sit. We were a total of 19 Unilocalers sitting at tables and booths. The tables were adorned with Unilocal swag including beautiful red sunglasses that were labeled Unilocal,key chains and bottle openers.
The evening menu was laid out in front of each of us. We were given one coupon for an alcoholic drink which in turn had to be given to the waiter upon receiving our drink. I ordered a non alcoholic frozen strawberry Margaretta. At this time, Blue announced what the offerings would be.
Then Shaun, the manager greeted us.
First up was four appetizers… corn fritters, fried green tomatoes, Wild West Shrimp, and Brew Pub soft pretzels resembling cigars. Each appetizer came with a different sauce for dipping. I had never tasted fried green tomatoes before. I just fell in love with them.
At this time Shaun came over to each table one at a time with a selection of raw steaks explaining each different cut. He said to pay close attention to his talk as we would be quizzed later with prizes given out to the ones with the most correct answers. First prize was a $ 30 gift card to the restaurant. Other prizes for the runner-​ups included a Unilocal glass or a drinking flask. My companion won the flask.
After that, we had our choice of a salad or chicken tortilla soup. I opted for the soup. We had a choice of entrees. I ordered the 18oz bone– in rib eye with a loaded baked potato. We were allowed one side. I opted for the potato.
I was allowed to order a second bar drink since my first one was non alcoholic. You were limited to one if it had alcohol in it. I then ordered a virgin piña colada. It should be noted that soft drinks, iced teas, and hot coffee and tea was unlimited.
The last course was dessert. A huge slab of chocolate cake filled with chocolate mousse flanked on each side with a scoop of vanilla ice cream drizzled with chocolate syrup. If that wasn’t enough, a second dessert of a rounded lemon yellow cake with lemon frosting adorned with blueberries.
All in all, it was a marvelous evening. There was so much to eat, but I managed to eat it all. Why not… it was simply delicious from start to finish. My companion and I got to sit with two wonderful people, Elite Unilocalers, Diane N and her husband William. I met many Unilocalers.
I want to personally extend my heartfelt thanks to Blue and Shaun for a wonderful time. Without them, this event would never have materialized.

This was my first Unilocal event and I am not sure how anything could be better. The event began on time and our group was seated quickly. I appreciated that we got to choose our seats and I chose a table full of people I didn’t know. I absolutely loved the Unilocal swag on the table and took a bottle opener and a pair of sun glasses.
Blue and Longhorn Steakhouse manager Shaun had everything running like clockwork and a slew of surprises in store. There were giveaways for paying attention to the steak lesson and giveaways for social media use. Longhorn gave away two $ 30.00 gift cards and Blue gave away pint glasses, flasks, etc. Everyone left with a free appetizer coupon from Longhorn.
The food was amazing and served quickly and the company was wonderful as well. I met some really great people and thoroughly enjoyed myself.

Wow, just WOW!!! My very first Unilocal event and I was so excited to receive the ‘you’re in’ email earlier in the week. Showed up and we were escorted to our tables. I had no idea what to expect, but after greeting my table mates, we were introduced to our hosts and the eating soon began. Throughout the evening, our host kept us updated on the agenda. Playing games and winning prizes, were also an added benefit to the festivities. I loved interacting with the Longhorn staff – they were incredibly informative about all the food choices. Everything was delicious, and my quickly full stomach can attest to the fact that the portions were generous. I don’t typically eat much fried food, but I tasted each offering. I think the shrimp and fried green tomatoes were tied for first place with me. I opted for the bacon salad, and the Pittsburgh Parmesan encrusted outlaw steak – it was amazing!!! Very large portion, I’m still snacking on it 2 days later. I’d return to Longhorn in a heartbeat. Hope to see more Unilocal events in Palm Beach County, especially in the Palm Beach Gardens/​Jupiter area. Thanks again Unilocal for hosting this great gathering of food lovers.

This well organized fun event was a success in several ways. First, I would never consider going to longhorn but now I would consider it. Just the fact that they would put on an event like this proves that they are striving for greatness. Second– prizes food and drinks are always fun. Third– its usually hard to communicate in a loud restaurant but the noise level was not a problem, credit goes to blue for running a tight schedule and to longhorn because they probably thought of that when they designed their building.
Longhorn food was interesting. The steak was good, I am not sure it is worth it to get a $ 50 steak at a steakhouse when longhorns is pretty good. I try to avoid salty or fried stuff but I loved the fried tomatos. The desserts were ridiculous! You could feed a family with 1 serving of that chocolate cake dish.
I’ve been noticing a trend in big portion desserts that I suspect is caused by Unilocal.Some people leave reviews complaining about portion size no matter how big the portions are. Especially upscale places have to do this where they have huge desserts to guarantee that even the biggest gluttons will leave full so they won’t go on Unilocal and complain about portion size. Mystery solved!

The manager of Longhorn, Shaun made the Summer of Steak fabulous. Blue ran the event perfectly. They selected all my favorite menu items and brought them out in a timely fashion. The food was perfect. The fried shrimp and the garlic rib-​eye steak were my favorites. Many recent members of Unilocal joined me in eating some of the best food and drinks I’ve had in a long time. Diane and I loved every bite until we could eat no more. Then they brought out a huge plate of dessert. Guess what? We could eat more. It was just fabulous from start to finish. Another perfect Unilocal event thanks to Blue. I had never eaten at this Longhorn location. Sharing a meal of this magnitude with friends old and new was a perfect evening. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

What a great evening! Tons of yummy food, great company and PRIZES!
I was lucky enough that this was my second time attending a Unilocal & Longhorn event and knew it would not disappoint.
I like that we got to choose our own seats and that each booth held just a few people. It was great that my table not only had new Unilocalers but that we were all just meeting for the first time.
Appetizers started pouring out the second we sat down. They actually came out way before our drinks. The corn fritters were by far my favorite of the 4 starters. I’ve had the pretzel sticks before and knew I’d love them. The fried green tomatoes were mehhh but that’s ok cause everyone else at my table seemed to love them. Awesome! More fritters for me! I have also had the wild west shrimp before and really loved them but these were extremely greasy. Like to the point that there was no crunch in the coating and they were soggy. No worries cause there were other yummy choices everywhere!
We had our choice of salad, meat and side. I went with the beef steak tomato and bacon salad. It was not at all what I was expecting although it was yummy. I guess in my mind I envisioned sliced tomato with bacon pieces but what we got was a huge salad with ice burg lettuce, tomatoes and 2 pieces of bacon. Again not bad but not what I was expecting. What was bad was the croutons. They were over cooked mushy greasy squares that crumbled and not in a good way. I hate to say it but if I’m not honest then why write a review in the first place? Celine L. didn’t even try her’s after seeing how spongy and greasy they were. Smart girl! Daphne L. ordered the mixed green salad and her’s was beautiful with tons of ingredients and a completely different kind of croûton. If I had the chance to do it over I would go with that one.
While we waited for the main course we were educated on the cuts of meat and given a 5 minute timed quiz. I’m assuming it’s the same quiz employees are given and it was kinda hard! My husband was the first one done and scored 100% YESSSSSS! He won a very generous $ 30.00 gift card. I came in a sad second but got an awesome Unilocal pint glass which I will be putting to use this weekend!
The MEAT! Everyone at my table got the Outlaw Ribeye and hello I’m in heaven! It is by far the best steak they have to offer in my opinion. Buttery, juicy, cooked perfectly. OMG it’s nuts! On the side I had asparagus and it was the perfect pairing with the huge steak. Most restaurants screw up asparagus and it comes out limp and soggy. Not these, they had the perfect crunch in the middle with a soft outside. I highly recommend this side.
Each table got a chocolate stampede and blueberry lemon cake. Gahhhhhhh! I don’t know how I managed to eat more but the lemon cake was soft, creamy and had a nice tang to it. Hands down the chocolate stamped was our tables favorite though. It’s to die for if you are a chocolate lover. A must order and feeds an army.
The staff at Longhorn could not have been more welcoming, friendly, attentive and knowledgeable. Blue did a fantastic job of hosting the event and checking in on everyone. I love these smaller events and being introduced to new Unilocalers. We were given coupons to return and lots of Unilocal swag. This was a really really great event and I’m so glad I got to take part in it!

Loved this event! Wow! how generous can you get! The food was wonderful and the crowd of Unilocalers enthusiastic. Thanks for introducing us to a place I’d not typically go and purchase a $ 25 ribeye, but oh how I’m addicted now. Loved the pittsburg style preparation our waiter suggested, love.

Our dinner at Longhorn in West Palm Beach was the first of four Unilocal Summer Of Steak: Longhorn events. Clyde and I have been to the Longhorn in Davie and Delray Beach. This was our first visit to Longhorn in West Palm Beach.
At exactly seven o’clock Blue called us in to an area next to the bar. Our group was fairly small, about twenty Unilocalers. Several tables were set with special menus and an assortment of Unilocal swag. Many of the people there were fairly new Unilocalers and I loved watching their reaction to the whole experience of being at their first Unilocal event.
We could order non alcoholic beverages, plus we got one drink ticket for any drink from the bar. I had their delicious raspberry ice tea with my meal. For my cocktail I had a frozen strawberry Margarita which was perfectly made. It was even garnished with a fresh strawberry.
The food was spectacular. There was so much to eat. From the presentation, to the taste, it couldn’t have been better. Before we ordered Shaun, the managing partner, showed us samples of each cut of steak that Longhorn serves. We even learned the history of Longhorn, and we got a short lesson about steaks.
We started with appetizers which were served family style. First came the warm Brew Pub Pretzel Sticks. After that Sweet Corn Fritters, Fried Green Tomatoes and Wild West Shrimp. Each appetizer came with different dipping sauces. The appetizers were so delicious and I could have stopped eating then and been satisfied. My favorite appetizer was probably the warm Pretzel Sticks which had a touch of salt and a slightly chewy texture. With the appetizers came a loaf of bread and butter.
For the next course we had a choice of Grilled Chicken Tortilla Soup, mixed green salad, or beefsteak tomato and bacon salad. I ordered the soup which was hearty and delicious. It was topped with a dab of sour cream and guacamole.
For our entrees we could choose from several cuts of steak, salmon, or chicken, plus one side dish. I ordered the 18 ounce bone in Outlaw Ribeye. It came to the table perfectly cooked medium, as ordered. It was melt in your mouth tender and the flavor was absolutely delicious. My side dish of Macaroni And Cheese was the best I’ve ever eaten. Yes, it was that good.
As if that wasn’t enough food two beautiful desserts were placed on the table. The Chocolate Stampede Cake was big. It was chocolate cake, vanilla ice cream, and chocolate syrup. We also got a Blueberry Lemon Butter Cake which was sort of like a pound cake covered with light lemon syrup, and fresh blueberries. My stomach was so full, but there was no way I wasn’t going to eat my share of those wonderful desserts.
Besides the food and drink there were prizes for posting on Twitter and Instagram, I didn’t win. There was a written quiz about steaks. First place was a $ 30 gift card. I think I came in third with only three wrong answers. For my prize I got to choose between a Unilocal glass and a Unilocal flask. I took the flask which may come in handy.
Thank you to everyone at Longhorn. From the moment I walked in the door to the last bite of food I felt like a special guest. The hostess, our server, Shaun Kern, and the whole Longhorn team made this a very special event. We even got a card for a free appetizer when we return.

This event was great! Met a lot of new people and enjoyed A TON of delicious food at longhorn steakhouse. There were tons of prizes from social media to quizzes about the restaurant. The food was pretty delicious. They brought four appetizers out… multiples on them. Wild west shrimp. Pretzel sticks. Corn fritters and fried green tomatoes. I thought the fried green tomatoes were the best. We were offered three choices of salad/​soup. I chose the mixed green salad with raspberry vinaigrette and it was good. A bunch of my table had the tomato and Bacon salad and didn’t like it very much. I ordered the smoky garlic outlaw ribeye with mash potatoes. Very delicious, cooked perfectly. And two desserts were brought out… the chocolate stampede and the blueberry lemon butter cake. My favorite was the chocolate stampede but I am a little biased because I love chocolate. I would definitely attend one of these events again. The people were really nice.

I had an amazing time at this event. I made new friends, learned new things, and ate some of the most amazing food. It was all so delicious. I really loved the corn fritters but do me there’s nothing better then a steak done right.
