Once Upon A Child

I’d like to firstly say that literally the ONLY reason I’m giving this store 2 stars instead of 1 is because the manager/​owner reached out personally to me to try to resolve a HUGE complaint I had with the store the same day I made it. He also issued me a $ 10 credit (which I honestly didn’t use) the same day as well.
Onto the review.
As some of the previous reviews have stated, good LUCK selling your clothes to them! When they were first going to open I was able to sell some big items that had been sitting around my attic and received a price a bit lower than I expected (I sold a basically new pack and play, an immaculate high chair, a play mat, and some other things. I brought in enough to fill the entire trunk of my Suburban and left with half of it) — $ 70 for the almost brand new pack and play, the high chair, play mat, and maybe one bag of clothes. Ehh it’s new right?
So a while after they opened I had been about 4 times to sell to them. Mind you, my oldest is 9 and I’ve been selling (and buying) to the Enfield store for about that time. I’m no «newbie» to OUAC standards. Out of those 4 times, they rejected two entire sales and only took 4 or 5 things from my other bins the other two times! They were rejecting for «stains, fading etc». The time before the one referenced above I had a pair of Nike sneakers that were literally worn once! (Also with that load they rejected totally I had some time so I went to Enfield and they bought about half of it)
The one referenced above hit a new low for me and completely tarnished any respect or second (or fourth) chances that store and I will ever have. My youngest had a growth spurt and I had to get rid of most of her winter things. Brand spanking new winter things. Like with tags. I brought in about 4 huge bins of things– snow pants, coats, shoes, jeans, you name it. I dropped them off, went to the mall, and though was quoted 2 hours, was called back within a half hour. When I went back to the store they handed me back EVERYTHING. Their reason? The ever so ambiguous «mild staining, slight odor» reason. I. Was. Pissed. No one smokes in my house and I don’t cook exotic foods every night so where’s the odor? And PLEASE point out the staining on something that still has the tag on it from the store?! What really iced the cake was the fact that when I actually perused the store there were items with OBVIOUS stains and dirt! There was a pair of snowboots that were supposed to be light up ones that not only didn’t work, but were absolutely filthy! Again, I wasn’t a happy camper.
Again the ONLY reason I’m giving this review 2 stars is because I vented my frustrations to an employee who helped me with my things back to the car and I was surprised to hear from the owner later that afternoon. After a lengthy conversation he asked me to bring the items back so he could personal go through them and issued me a $ 10 credit that I could use any time. I didn’t go back because I had already dropped the items off to the shelter as I had no time to go to Enfield.
Though the owner did follow up, I absolutely will not be back.

Love this place! Great clothes/​toys at quality prices, and customer service is always great. Worth the 25 minute drive for me!

I sold some clothes back we weren’t using and received an okay amt of money. I bought two great Halloween costumes for $ 4.50/ each… very happy with those prices!

I love this once upon a child!!! Everything is super neat and organized. The customer service is the best I have ever witnessed. My go to place for kids stuff. Plus they are very respectful when we sell stuff. A lot of people say they are too picky but I think that’s necessary when I want to buy stuff without stains. I love this place!

This store is wonderful! It is always clean and organized, the staff is helpful and friendly. And you can’t beat the prices! We picked up some extra equipment (swing, pack n play & high chair) and toys for the grandparents house. My daughter loves checking out what «new» toys they’ve gotten in. We always leave with a couple books. They also have cards they stamp, once it is full you will get a percentage off of a purchase. Who doesn’t love saving even more money. And because the clothes are so reasonably priced I don’t have to worry if the kids get dirty playing in them with friends or at school. I can get the brand names without emptying my wallet! When checking out they also have a jar on the counter with free lollipops and stickers for the kids. We love this store! It is always our go to spot when we need clothes and shoes. I haven’t sold anything to the store before but I know plenty of people who have and they were happy with the experience and the amount they were offered. Im getting some stuff together for selling and will update my review with my experience once I have done that myself.

Extremely Disappointed!!!
I’m giving this place 1 star because of how clean it and put together it was. Other than that I will never shop there or sell my stuff. I called 3 times getting information on selling my stuff. Very excited about going to the shop about 45 – 50 min drive from my house. I brought my stuff and they said about 2 hours they would have a quote. Ok that’s fine. When I went back I had more than ½ my stuff given back to me. I expected a some back due to not always seeing a stains in different lighting but OMG I couldn’t believe it. I went to the manager as I was very upset asking why they weren’t taking some of these items. Things that were 6 – 18 month clothing that was brand new 6 months ago saying they are faded. Other things saying finger oil stains. I couldn’t believe it​.Name brand stuff too. Perfect condition jeans! Also told me when I got there they didn’t except water toys, blankets, bibs, socks. I wouldn’t have brought them if you told me that the 3 times I talked to you on phone. Point is don’t sell your stuff there if you think it’s in great shape because they won’t. I Also looked around shop and couldn’t believe some of things they took but didn’t take of mine. One more thing they want your clothes brought to them in a certain way but then throw them back in your bucket to take back home.

Super picky about what they will take and don’t offer enough money in my opinion. I sold some of the items at a tag sale for more than twice what they were offering and took the rest to Savers and went with the tax deduction. I won’t waste my time going back there to sell or to shop.
