Another banh mi sandwich place in Salt Lake! I’d been eyeing this place for quite some time and finally made my way out there. They have a wide variety of sandwiches(pretty standard options you see at most banh mi places like honey glazed pork and garlic rib-eye steak). Prices were incredibly reasonable. A big and filling sandwich for under $ 5. They have other non-sandwich items like phở if sandwiches aren’t your thing. Go check them out!

Delicious, I had the honey pork banh mi, the vegetables were crisp and the pork was juicy. I will be back to try the phở and the short rib banh mi.

Good Lemongrass Rice Bowl! Fast service. Some of sauce containers on the tables were sticky.

REALLYGOOD! My wife ordered the vegetarian phở and I ordered the curry chicken Banh Mi. I have been to Vietnam and both dishes were excellent. Also the prices are cheap! Definitively worth the visit if you want good Vietnamese food that does not break the wallet.

Been here a couple times but I’ve only ordered phở. Love it! Rare beef could have used seasoning, but broth is as good as any phở I ever had in Northern CA Bay Area! It’s close to my work so I’ll definitely be back to try their sandwiches and rice dishes. 4 stars for now until I can fairly review other things on their menu.

I don’t believe I’ve ever had banh before, but there’s a ton of places around Salt Lake that I’ve heard I need to try. This place is in West Valley in a little strip mall on 5600 West. I came here only because it was close to my home. It’s a walk up and place your order at the counter and they’ll bring it to whatever table you decide to sit at kind of joint. You clean up your own trash before you leave… no waiter service. I didn’t hate it for the record. It just wasn’t this miraculous experience I was expecting. Maybe that’s my fault and I didn’t gauge my expectations appropriately. I will come back, because I love local businesses and I want to give it another shot. But My wife and I purchased two different sandwiches and we ate one half of each, neither blew my mind. Like I said, not bad though, and I will be back to give it a second try.

I have the rare beef phở here at least once a week. Its very reasonably priced, has great flavor and overall really good. The toppings provided with the phở are very fresh. I usually order a spring roll with the phở. Really good food. I tried the vermicelli with pork once. That was good too.

Finally, a good banh mi sandwich place by where I work! I got the S1 grilled pork sandwich. They do a good job overall but I prefer harder and flakier bread. Inside, the seating area looks very new and clean. Prices were very reasonable.

Why Hot Banh competes and may possibly be better than other Banh my establishments– meat to bread ratio. Hands down they take the cake. Other banh mi places have sandwiches sure but they fill your sandwich with tons of veggies and very little meat. Here they give you good portions of meat and veggies which balances it out perfectly. This was my first time here and I ordered the safe yet my favorite glazed BBQ pork banh mi. I’m totally satisfied after the first bite. The crunch of the veggies, the portion of meat, the bread and sauce just made it a hearty and great meal. The owner is super friendly. I asked to take a picture of him for Unilocal and he jokingly says«I don’t look good today» haha. I love establishments that have a staff with a sense of humor and personality. The owner definitely enjoys his work and if he doesn’t, well you can’t tell. This place is a little ways away from where I live but it’s worth the drive bc the sandwiches are so good.

Yummy yum yum! Hubby had a salad and I had a great garlicky sandwich. The décor is nice, and the staff is very friendly. I will be back!

Super Duper Fabulous. I tried the avocado spring roll and fried egg /jalapeño banh mi, my favorites. So tasty, cheap, well made, and fast. I am a huge fan of oh mai. I work in this neighborhood so I will be back to try the rest of the menu asap! I need to remember to look for brown sauce next time. I think it is hoisin. Only sriracha and a red pepper sauce was on the table.

Went back and it was better than last time so I think it deserves that last star. It wasn’t even bad the first time, it was great. But it was just all around yummier today. Still a little light on the meat in the phở, but I really enjoyed my bowl. My teenager gave her meal an enthusiastic thumbs up, and my toddler was slurping up broth like it was going out of style. Happy to have this place close-ish. We pass it every time we are o our way downtown, so I can see this becoming a regular pit stop for sure.

This place was a bit far from where I live but glad we found it. There is a L&L bbq next door to it which was nice to see since they closed the downtown location a while ago. The best part of the meal was the Banh Mi garlic ribeye sandwich. The bread was hard on the outside and chewy in the middle just the way I like it. They said this place’s owner is the sister of the awesome Oh Mai restaurants owned by her brother. The Phở wasn’t so great, it was missing star anise cinnamon ginger cardamom and a few other things, although what little meat was in the Phở was really good. The spring roll and avocado roll was pretty good but very small. We were the only ones in the restaurant at lunch time which doesn’t seem to be a good sign. I hope this place sticks around I want to try their other sandwiches.

First impression walking in was that the décor was really nice and modern! The menu had a variety of Vietnamese sandwiches, phở, rice plates, and vermicelli bowls. They all sounded appealing but I ordered the R5 I believe. It was a rice plate and came with pork and your traditional Vietnamese rice plate toppings. I also ordered a fresh avocado smoothie. Mmm! My thoughts on the food: Rice plate was very good. I’ve had my fair share of Vietnamese rice plates and this was just as good. The only thing I didn’t like was a pickled topping that reminded me of kimchi but didn’t taste like it. The egg was cooked perfectly where you had just the perfect amount of runny yolk come out. The avocado smoothie was as good as the ones I’ve tried at different Vietnamese reataurants. Rich and creamy. The only thing I wish they had with it was boba, it would’ve been perfect! I’m surprised they didn’t offer any but maybe I’m just asking for too much. Haha. Overall, I really enjoyed Hot Banh and I will definitely come here again! Next time I want to try out their phở! :)

Overall a nice place to stop in and get some tasty Vietnamese food. The bun was good although a little light on the meat. Phở was ok but the broth was very one note. Service has always been friendly and the food is very affordable.

It was coo. They had some flies flying around the eating area but that’s not a problem as long as they weren’t flying around the cooking area, you knowimsayin?! The sandwich had some hard ass bread and I had a toothache that day so I cut the hard crust off like a lil kid, cuz I’m still a lil kid. But it was hella good tho! The other stuff I got was the vermicelli noodles with short ribs. It was aight. A lil on the small size compared to other places but it was good no doubt. Got some free boba maybe cuz of my good looks, idk. I’d go there again, maybe tomorrow. Idk

This place is pretty decent for Vietnamese food. Obviously no one beats Mama Dang’s cooking, but it’s pretty good! I ordered the phở tai(beef noodle soup) and the give you free fountain drinks when you done in! Unlike other Vietnamese restaurants, you’ll have to grab the hoisin sauce, Siracha sauce and soy sauce on your own. Staff is super friendly here and they speak Vietnamese. I’ll definitely come back here on my lunch break!
