Come here for the ice cream, the Del’s lemonade(yum!), emergency supplies like sunscreen, snacks, drink mixers. Leave the $ 8.99 lobster roll — I’d much rather pay the $ 16 next door and get an actual lobster roll. That said, Dusty’s is an institution in Weekapaug and no trip to that area of the Rhode Island shore would be complete without stopping in for a Del’s

Dusty’s is the quintessential New England seaside general store. I’m not even sure why ‘ice cream’ is in the name because it’s so much more than that. It sits on a stretch that looks to be straight out of the set of «American Graffiti,» and whenever I’m in Westerly, I visit this shop more times than I can count; sometimes more than once a day. It’s a one-stop shop that sells everything: sunscreen, ice, fireworks, candy, paraphernalia to make sand castles, freshly-brewed coffee, milk, and, as the name suggests, ice cream. In addition to all of this, it’s got a little snack area in back that sells breakfast sandwiches, grinders, and other noshes. It’s cheap and good. It’s a true mom-and-pop establishment, and the kind of place you’ll find the owner’s twelve-year old daughter manning one of the registers. Everyone is friendly. Prices may not be the cheapest in the area(as there’s a Walmart a few miles away), but I always shop here when I can as I much prefer spending my money in such a delightful store. This quaint part of town has remained blissfully chain-free. I adore Dusty’s for its charming nostalgia factor. See you next summer, Dusty.

I was here several years ago and I still dream about the chocolate ice cream with peanut butter cookie dough in it. If you are anywhere in the Westerly area, I highly suggest you stop in and try it!

My husband and I were vacationing in Weekapaug and decided to get ice cream on our way back to the house from the beach. I ordered a peanut butter cup ice cream with extra chocolate sprinkles. They were not shy with the sprinkles, so big props from me on that! My husband ordered the moose tracks ice cream plain, both flavors were amazing! We also ordered our favorite Dells lemonade which was made just right. No complains from us, guess from the sounds of it, we were luckier than past reviewers.

Stopped in here on a scorcher of a day for a Milkshake at around 10:30am. The white-haired man who was preparing the milkshake told me that«the machine wasn’t on yet» after he drew off the watery dregs from the soft-serve ice cream machine into my cup. After 5 minutes or so, the man delivered a thin, barely cold beverage he refrerred to as a «milkshake» for $ 4.25. I’ve never seen a milkshake prepared with anything other that hard ice cream and milk, and I was able to consume this one in under 2 minutes. To me that is an indication of a thin, watery milkshake. I’ll pass next time.
