I have been going to this restaurant since it opened many years ago. It has always had consistently good food and service. Today it took 1.5 hours for lunch And they were at best ½ full. We had to send one meal back and we’re informed when 2⁄3 orders were delivered that the 3rd was not available. Our server gone for ½ hour. We complained several times, but nothing changed. Too bad, it was great, no longer

Normally I have a decent time at The Landing — that’s why I gave it two stars instead of one. I went today at noon on my girlfriend’s birthday. We were excited because it was a beautiful day. Much to our disappointment, our waiter took 30 mins just to take our drink order. Our food was good but it took over 45 mins to get. It appeared as though there were only 2 servers and 3 busers for the outside section. We were ignored and promised things like bread and sodas that never came. The we had to stack our dishes behind the table and grab forks and plates from another clean table because no one would help us– they said they would get our waiter and he never came by. I understand that the wait staff was short handed — although that was never explained and no one ever apologized for the delays. I’ve worked in the restaurant business for about a decade and I understand how it works — there are such things as on-call waiters. There was no manager helping or even around to check on anyone. Very poorly run. We spent a lot of money on a lunch that took over two hours when we didn’t have two hours to spend. I won’t be going back.

Love the sushi here. But that’s not the best part. I left my beanie on the table Christmas Eve. Finally decided to call and see if they had it today — two weeks later– and they still had it. I truly figured it would be long gone when I realized I left it a few days later. Best employees ever!

Was here over the holidays with my friend and we really enjoyed this place over looking the lake. The ambiance was so peaceful and beautiful looking out at the water. We order a few plates to share one was the clams which were so delicious and the surf & turf. It was really amazing! It’s a great place to sit and have a chill dinner with friends or a romantic dinner date.

I was very hesitant about going to the Landing for dinner because of the bad reviews. However, I must say that the food there is pretty good if you know what to order. The octopus salad and yellowtail collar salad are my two favorite dishes. Unfortunately, many times they don’t have the yellowtail collar, which is annoying because it’s their best dish, the one dish which I look forward to ordering. Sometimes they skimp on the octopus in the octopus salad, which is also an unhappy thing. Don’t order sushi there because the rice is cold and hard and ruins the rolls. If they would just use warm sushi rice like Sugarfish, then their rolls would have a chance of actually being good. I’ve had their miso soup and chicken lettuce wraps and they are both ok. Though many people like the ganja, I think it is sometimes a hit or miss. The ambience is quite nice with the lake, the mountains, the boats, and the white tablecloths. Service is also good.

The food is ok but the service is bad in parts. The waitress was not friendly and it took forever for the food to come out. I think they tried their best. Our water was refilled and the table linens were very clean. Not altogether a great experience.

Would never come back! Came here today at 11am when they just opened, we sat right away and told the waiter we have a 45 min lunch which he said won’t be an issue. We ordered 2 turkey burgers and lettuce wrap appetizer. At 1120 we were told it’ll be 2 min. The appetizer never came and after asking again the food came at 1132 problem is they didn’t bring the appetizer. We had to eat really fast and rush out back to work. Service wasn’t good at all. Seems like they were focusing more so on the big party that came in then us.

Beautiful view on the Westlake creek, fresh white table covers, and soothing atmosphere. Nice restaurant for Sunday brunch or a romantic lunch/dinner.

Nice view of the lake. That is really the draw of this place. The server was friendly and cordial. The food was only decent though. The flavors didn’t really blend well. The calamari was overdone, and the ahi didnt seem very fresh. The vegetable had WAY too much ginger. The sushi was not that great, but not terrible either. It was just VERY average fare. The desert was nothing to write home about either. The wine selection was good. We had a reservation, so we got right in, but the area where other folks had to wait to be seated was HORRIBLE. It was just a roped off walkway which was too narrow for the benches and chairs that were there. It was barely wide enough for people to pass through as they entered the restaurant. It looked terribly uncomfortable. Just an aside, there was only one bathroom. It was very clean. It was a one room unisex bathroom, which is appreciated as a single father with a daughter, but it didn’t seem like enough accommodations for a restaurant of that size.

I really enjoy this place. I love the patio overlooking the lake and the food is pretty good as well. Right when you sit down they give you a nice warm basket of bread. The service is very attentive and on point. I liked this place so much I came back on my birthday and ordered sushi, and a bottle of wine. The sushi wasn’t the best sushi I have tried but it was pretty good. My boyfriend got a bbq sandwich and fries which he mentioned he loved. I will definitely be back for sure. I would suggest this place for any occasion!

I want to extend a warm thank you to CoOwner Hamid & Manager Paul. My family has been celebrating special occasions for years at Boccaccio’s next door but I love sushi more than pasta these days & the menu at The Landing is excellent. When my fiancé & I decided to spontaneously elope in Malibu, my amazing family made all our wishes for that day come true. Booking a same day reception dinner for 20 people on the lake seemed like an impossible task but Hamid & Paul worked with my Grandmother to orchestrate a really memorable evening on the grass, under warm heaters with custom menus & the best view in town. A week later my family is still raving about the portion sizes, the flavors & the food presentation. I’m a foodie so I wouldn’t have anything less than the best on my special day. Thank you, guys, for a dinner with loved ones I will never forget.

I can’t even give this place any stars. I was with My sister the night before & Parsha the owners son Was extremely rude to us totally discriminated against us. I had just driven all the way from Long beach and I am a diabetic. I was shaking as I needed to eat something. Was it because we are lesbians or Hispanic, Or both? We have never been so embarrassed and degraded in our life. We were lied to and yelled at by the manager. Not a professional way of conducting business. Maybe he needs to go to business school so they can teach him some manners. If you read this and still eat there than shame on you.

The star is for the view & the bread… otherwise, this place gets a fat zero. Do not go here for sushi. It’s pretty foul. Phili roll had a type of shredded salmon? Tasted of a can. The spicy tuna was beyond fishy, ate one & held my urge to spit it out. The 911 roll: tuna on top was covered in sauce but the middle revealed a gray color. Yellow tail was edible. Avocado was slightly brown. I do not care for Yamatos, but Yamatos is better than this place. If you’re looking for good sushi in Westlake, go to Kaminari. We prefer to drive to Sumo Sushi in Newbury Park. I’m beyond disappointed in my experience at this place, we will never go back… our waiter was inattentive as well, had to flag down the bus boy for beverage refills, etc. As I type, I have the aftertaste of canned tuna. Disgusting.

This place rarely disappoints. The atmosphere is a 10 –with a sterling view of the Lake and the mountains. The Menu is eclectic and offers so many types of great dishes from different cultures. I had the Pad Thai this time and though they changed the recipe a bit I still enjoyed it. the Seafood Chowder is perfect in it’s tomato base with lots of delicious seafood morsels, and big enough to share. However, we were dazzled by the Tuna Salad plate and the Rainbow Sushi. The grilled salmon was very nice, not top shelf, but certainly enjoyable . The Manila Clams were likewise good, and presentation gets good marks too. . Table Service at The Landing was OK, as is usual. They could use more Management supervision and training, but it was far from«bad service». Just a bit spotty . Nonetheless, I recommend it for an overall delightful dining experience day or night.

The Landing is an interesting restaurant. The location of the restaurant is spot on right next to the lake. Unfortunately the lake is green, old, filled with trash and not good enough for the area that it’s in. But enough about the lake on to the food at The Landing. The food is just generic bland American cuisine. You are paying for the location of the restaurant and that’s about it. They have burgers and fries, they have pasta and they have sushi. Overall the staff is friendly, it’s a laid back atmosphere and a great place to take the family for lunch or dinner.

The food is a rip off and in general too salty. I’m giving: one star for the view and one for the quick service. (I have been here several times before and recall good food, though not necessarily worth the price either) Steamed clams were ordered for the table. They were absolutely OVERCOOKED to the point that they were tough to chew and shriveled. Could not tell if the clams were fresh or not. The broth was flavorful(herbs and Parmesan) but overly salty. The Pad Thai I order was way too SALTY and the noodles were drenched in sauce. There was much more shrimp and chicken than noodles, enough to make a couple sandwiches with the free rolls. The chicken was dry past what the excess of sauce could cover and the shrimp was tough. The thick sauce, other than being too salty, was also too acidic to the point that it felt mildly spicy and did not have many dimensions of flavor. For around $ 19, 5⁄5 would not order again and is certainly not worth the price. The $ 8 delivery Thai food I can get from fast food places has better flavor. The man a table over sent back his pasta dish for being too salty. This restaurant clearly has a seasoning(over salting) problem.(Especially considering I’m the kind of person who adds soy sauce to sodium-packed cup noodles)
