Nice atmosphere, good food. I had the Gyspy platter. It is ok. This café place is all the way to the end of the plaza. I hated the cigarette smoke coming inside the restaurant from the smokers seating outside. Will not return.

I had a hu tiu Nam Vang and it is to die for. Broth is cooked without MSG and it tasted so good. I am foodie from Saigon and NYC so my taste is quite hard to please but you can’t go wrong with hu tiu Nam Vang here

Came here on a Saturday morning! It was too crowded. I ordered Nui Xao Bo and a Hu Tieu Nam Vang. It was okay, nothing special. The beef in the Nui Xao Bo was dry and too thick. The service was okay, our waitress seems pretty nice.

This place was pretty good. The ambience is more of like a hang out for older viet people. I came here because I love places with macaroni noodles and beef(filet mignon) so I had to try this place out. It was pretty good. The beef was really tender and had a nice flavor to it. I also tried the mi kho with pork bone soup. This was okay. I’ve had it better elsewhere. My sister said the bo kho here was pretty good but I didn’t try it. I also ordered a hazelnut latte and it was good! Yummmm

If Unilocal has 0 star or under, I would definitely pick it. We came early this morning and saw a dead cockroach. This restaurant locates in the corner of Catinat plaza, next to a doctor office so 99% it came from its own kitchen. I saw a waitress making drinks, café not clean too. Never come back.

Hu tieu nam vang was good but my suong sam has garlic smell in it!!! Couldnt finish it. Some lady probably makes the drink and hu tieu without washing their hand. Ruined the experience for me.

Gypsy Café — This was hidden in the back right across from Royal on Brookhurt & Bolsa… As we pulled up to park… There was a bunch of tables and umbrellas outside and a lot of old men smoking and drinking coffee. Kinda gave me this fobby coffeeshop feel minus the girls in bikinis lol… Anyways we sat outside…(table for 2) on a Sunday afternoon 10.26.14 … Waitress gave us a menu… Pretty basic… I ordered a strawberry smoothie(Sinh To Dau) and my husband got the lemonade soda… We both ordered the macaroni filet mignon shaken beef(Bo Luc Lac)… When we got our drinks OMG it was horrible… the lemonade had no sugar in it we had to ask them to bring out some sugar for us… All we tasted was bland lemon juice and carbonation… The smoothie was a bust… NOFLAVOR!!! Never again ordering that!!! They need to hire coffeeshop girls to train the workers how to make it right UGH! anyways our food came out… and luckily it tasted great so that made up for our nasty dranks!!! The meat was perfectly cooked… the macaroni was sweet!!! came with some cucumbers and tomatoes and a side of soy sauce and peppers to dip… I loved it!!! I would go back for this but prolly order it TOGO

Gypsy Café is where the action takes place! A great place to watch the game and cheer with the crowd. Enjoy your favorite traditional South Vietnamese breakfast and the Porkbone noodle soup is fantastic. The ladies are wonderful and full of enthusiasm for the game but make sure to tip them. We know the cheap ass that don’t even leave a dollar. Don’t bring your own food drinks or tea here because it’s a business not your backyard. Come and try what everyone in the local Vietnamese community have known for over six years now. Great food great service and most important is a place to enjoy the FIFA World Cup Soccer Championship. Take some pictures and share the love today.

I heard the Hieu Tieu Nam Vang was good here, so I was excited to try it! However, my visit was met with much disappointment. From my initial walk-in, I was unimpressed with the setup of the place. The tables were very small, barely enough room for 2 – 4 people to sit and eat comfortably. I sat inside because it was cold that evening. There were old men hanging out and drinking coffee. It seemed more like a Vietnamese coffee shop, then a restaurant/café. I ordered the hieu tieu nam vang and it was bland and unappealing. I tried to add more fish sauce, but that didn’t even help. The service wasn’t that great and the soda chanh I ordered was also lacking taste. Overall, I did not enjoy my dining experience here and would not come back.

Overpriced food and drinks. The food was decent but did not impress me. I can have the same food at cheaper price. The coffee was overly sweet. Tables are small and not enough places to sit. The servers look so unhappy and they are not accommodating to the guests.

2 ½ stars, just average food, nothing to write home about. However, service is excellent, the kind you would find in nice restaurants. We ordered the following: Hu Tieu Nam Vang 2 ½ stars — even the one at 1.99 is better Gypsy Platter 2 ½ stars — average ingredients Macaroni and Bo Lu Lac 2 ½ stars — very greasy Service 5 stars — this alone may just bring us back

Not too crazy about this place! I admit it has a really cool atmosphere but I guess from all the reviews I kind of had a high expectation on the macaroni & beef dish that everyone raged about! I really liked the beef not so much that my macaroni was grilled and greasy. Customer service is so so but I think that’s just because this place is really laid back! Probably not really a go to place for me but a simple lunch here is okay sometimes! Don’t have too high of an expectation when you come!

First time here for a late lunch. It is a small lil place in Bolsa. I must say the macaroni w/shaken fillet mignon was delicious! I love their hot coffee w/milk too:) Though, they need to brush up on their customer service a lil more. i do plan on coming back here this weekend for the Mac and coffee!!!

I love this place for a super casual eatery! One of my new favorite Bolsa eateries. My recs: 1) macaroni filet mignon 2) hu tieu vang(broth on the side) Both so nostalgic and flavory. Enjoy.

Definitely an awesome traditional Vietnamese coffee place to hang out and chit chat. Be forewarned that if you cannot stand second hand smoke(like myself) either sit inside or order to go. The food is quite excellent as I would recc almost anything on their menu but especially the Hu Tieu Nam Vang. The Gypsy platter is great as well if you’re there for breakfast. The coffee is strong and the smoothies are creamy, just like how they’re suppose to be. There is definitely an eclectic mix of patrons that frequent this place. You have your traditional Viet men that sit and smoke 4 packs of cigs with their one cup of coffee, then there are the aspiring singers in the corner practicing to one day make it on Paris by Night. On the weekends, you will see tons of what appears to be extras from the show Sons of Anarchy; seems like the trend for old Vietnamese men is to buy a Harley and wear as much leather as you can. If you’re a sport fan, especially soccer ot futbol, this is the place to be for all the big events(epl, el clasico, champions league, etc) It is quite packed during these time, so get there early for a good spot and be prepared to scream!

This rating is just for Hu Tieu Nam Vang(Phnom Penh Noodle Soup) + pennywort drink. The noodle soup has a very great quality and satisfying taste :) the drink was the best pennywort drink I had around oc area. it was very refreshing. I’m definitely coming back :) they don’t have a lot of seating. it’s a vietnamese café shop/restaurant wanna be … lol

Weird café place that’s trying to be a restaurant. Lots of people sitting around on their laptops. They took up so much space that we didn’t have a table to sit at and almost left. A small group left just at the right time. We all ordered the Hu Tieu Kho. It was not good. Would not recommend. The accompanying soup was too salty. The noodle itself was seasoned in such an unremarkable way. I had a limited amount of time to spend in the OC, and I regret wasting my lunch at Gypsy Café.

After a long night of drinking, hungover completely shitfaced and not being able to sleep a buddy of mine decided he wanted some coffee and cigarettes. So i figure why not it’s better then laying around tossing and turning ya know? After much contemplating which vietnamese coffee shop to go to we both decided gypsy café would suffice because it had plenty of outdoor seating, which is good if your a smoker… don’t judge me. Anyway, my friends and I decided to order the café sua nong, which is hot coffee with milk and it was really good! It’s got enough creaminess with more of a coffee flavor. Id say it was 60% coffee to 40% milk in terms of the coffee to milk flavor ratio. And if you smoke, PLENTY of outdoor seating. I also treated myself to some of their passion fruit juice which was delightful as well. My friend ordered the gypsy plate which is like a combination plate. It came with 2 sunny side up eggs, a package of butter, soy sauce, 3 pieces of cha lua, 3 pieces of this ham(i don’t know what its called), 4 smokey sausages, 2 slices of tomato, 2 slices of cucumber, a small serving of pâté, and a basket of baguettes. You’ve got your carbs, proteins, and veggies for pretty damn cheap too! It’s the traditional vietnamese breakfast but deluxe status. It’s a nice place to meet up with your friends to start your day. Just be careful though, I told them that it was on me but when the waitress came she said the two dreadful words, «CASHONLY.» In this scenario, I then had to ask them to spot me. Sigh, how embarassing!

Avocado shake is AMMMAZING and Yummylicious!!! Gypsy Café, Bolsa… Another reason the OC is the best place to live.
