Vietnamese Desserts! I love this authentic little Vietnamese dessert shop in Westminister, CA, even despite the learning curve for me to figure out what is good here. If you love a cultural experience like I do, you are in for a treat. Cash Only. They sell all sorts of Vietnamese Che desserts-mostly sweet rice, sticky rice and coconut milk/taro mung bean or tapioca desserts. Almost everything is served to order with some desserts in a self serve refrigerated cooler. I much prefer this location to the other one in Westminister… it is much cleaner. And be prepared… there is always a line, and on each of my visits I was the only non Vietnamese person in line. If you come here and you are not Vietnamese or familiar with Vietnamese desserts, here are some tips because the choices can be overwhelming and its hard to know what everything is-nothing is labeled: A. Be flexible and not be afraid to ask questions… and they may or may not answer your questions to your satisfaction…(or ask questions to the people in line who on my two visits were all Vietnamese but most spoke English). B. Almost everything is pre made and served upon order, sort of like a fast food Chinese restaurant, except here its desserts. Customers are allowed to ask for a sample of something that might look good. It’s a bit of trial and error here but when you find something you like… its quite the reward. C. I’ve tried : *the sweet sticky rice with pieces of taro served with a coconut sauce that is similar to the sauce served with Thai mango and sticky rice. * a light green cold coconut milk based sweet«soup» served in a cup with purple and yellow tapioca balls, pieces of taro, and some green squiggly worm like things, either made of tapioca or mung bean, it is a liquid base so it is served in a cup but the large light purple and pale yellow tapioca and fresh taro are so good and the liquid is so yummy with the flavor sweetened coconut milk. I think there are also chunks of carrot in here but next time I will ask for no carrot. *drinks made with coconut milk and ice with your choice of mung bean, grass jelly, boba, white bean, red bean, green bean paste and they add liquid sweetener so if you don’t like it too sweet you can ask them for less sweet…$ 3.50…I’ve gotten this twice but much prefer the aforementioned soup. When I visit again I will get names of items and photos.

Love the assortment of che at this place. Everytime we are in Southern California we stop by to pick up our favorite vietnamese desserts!

Their che ba mau is the best around, no competition. Not too sweet and filled to the top, they don’t cheat you by putting a lot of ice in. Their coconut milk is rich and not watery. I never get che ba mau anywhere but here. There isn’t much in terms of décor or service, but there is pretty much always a line– just goes to show how good the food is.

I have been a regular since the grand opening of the 1st Hien Khanh yummy desert store, founded by young VN college students/graduates entrepreneurs. I was very impressed by how they knew how to create such delicious deserts from their mothers in VN while they were growing up. I only went to this branch once before, this time I went there because it was directly across from the vegetarian restaurant I just dined in. I ordered my favorites, tapioca, the mung bean cakes and a Thai desert drink, I then asked if I could have a little coconut sauce in a little container, it was given out free in the old store but later they charged 50cents. The girl working there said abruptly no, that was not something that was done before, I was in disbelief, I said why not? she was so rude and said something about it would not go together, I was so upset I could not understand exactly what she said, she sure had the NVN accent from after 1954. I was debating whether I wanted to walk out of the store, I made one last attempt and said whether she could give a spoon of the coconut juice from the mung bean drink, how much could it cost? 10 cents? she flatly refused and again reiterated that would not go together. What kind of customer service was that, this girl really knew it all, she should not work there or need a reprimand. Here are the reviews on the deserts I ordered: 1) the mung bean cake was as good as I remembered them. 2) the tapioca was dry because it did not have the coconut sauce. 3) the Thai desert drink WASMUCHTOOSWEET, diabetics out there, stay away before you all into a coma eating such a huge amount of sugar. They apparently had the recipes from the original store, based on what I saw, this most probably was a franchise, not family owned store so the rude practice and some recipe would be different. 1 star for customer service, 3.5 stars for the deserts so I would have to rate this 2 stars and I will never go back there.

I’m a Che fanatic and knew I had to come here. I was so amazed at the spread of different Che and felt overwhelmed that I only ended up purchasing one item. I’m not sure the viet name for it but it’s basically colorful strips mochi strips covered in coconut. I believe it’s made from Cassava. This happens to be my all favorite Che and my Aunty says that not many places make it. I’ll come back again and be sure to order at least three items. The only con is the parking which is very limited!

I usually don’t like Che, but my brother and sister-in-law are in LOVE with this place, we stop by every time we’re in the area. We get a whole bag of sweets to take home and have on the car ride back to San Diego. Great for satisfying your sweet tooth. It’s a small place, and the line is usually out the door. The prices are very reasonable. It’s best to have a friend or know how to speak Vietnamese yourself, hoping the person serving you understands what you want. They also take cash only. My FAVORITE thing to get here is the coconut fruit drink(che tai), but i’ve tried mostly everything here and everything is delicious, just depends on what you like!

Located in the Pagoda Plaza. Waited for 15mins in line on a weedfay afternoon. Unless u know what the desserts are, don’t expect to find out what everything is as there are no dish labels nor prices listed. Though i suspect prices are reasonable. I liked 1 out of the 3 desserts i ordered. Cost: $ 6.25 Pandan and mung bean round cakes– not too sweet just the way I like it. I was surprised that the mung bean portion in the middle was almost like a hard custard like texture and not grainy. The best part was dipping it into the thick coconut milk like sauce. Banana, tapioca balls, and some other white ball in coconut milk. It was ok. Mochi balls w mung bean in asweet ginger water w sesame seeds– this was def a savory sweet shock. The ming bean inside was the the texturw and even tasted like thr yolk inside a hard boiled egg.

Similar to a Vietnamese dessert shop we have in Houston. They make fresh desserts daily and when I’m in the area we stop by for some traditional desserts. It’s cash only. You can mix and choose to your liking what you want in your dessert. I stick to the traditional desserts like che ba mau(three colored dessert). They also serve other baked goods here. A tad bit sweet. No seating here but it gets packed so you just order and go.

This is my family’s go-to place for che. That’s probably in part because we regularly go to Quan Hy, which is in the same shopping center, and in part because the desserts here are good. My favorite is che bap(corn), which not every place has, followed closely by che dau trang(sticky rice with black eyed peas). My sister in law loves che chuoi(banana). The coconut milk that they give you has just the right amount of saltiness. I also really love that they have the banh cam(seasme balls) in ping pong size. They have a better crunch to filling ratio, and you can convince yourself eating a few small ones isn’t as bad as having a bigger size one. I could totally see how this place could be intimidating if you aren’t Vietnamese or am like me and can’t speak it(ok, I may have googled all of translations just now). But bring a friend or family member, or just point, and you probably won’t go wrong.

A fun little place by PLT(Phuoc-loc-tho) that sells authentic Vietnam wet desserts and drinks. Coming into this place does have a nice feel of what it feels like to be in a shop in Vietnam. The steam of some of their coconut desserts does bring back memories of being a kid again in the homelands. If you’re around the area make sure to swing by and grab yourself some coconut cake and ginger drop deserts. There isn’t much else to say, except you have to go try it yourself. Meanwhile, I’m going to sit here and reminisces!!!

This place is awesome. The line was out the door at 9am on a Weekday. There is tons of variety. The only thing is the Language barrier. I could only point but could not say how much or specify the quantity. Total was 8.00 for 3 small things Peanut Sesame Coconut Sticky Rice: AMAZNG. mildly sweet. Sesame ball: the small kind better thanlarge because less dough=more crunch Vegan lemon grass chicken(aka seitan): so flavorful. Taste nothing like chicken(as expected). no idea why people even call this chicken. I love seitan and it should be respected as its own identity, not trying to be something its not. Anyway, DELISH. I could not tell the price of things. Seems that some ladys bought a ton of stuff for 10 bucks and I bought 3 tiny things for 8 dollars… hmmm.

Pretty much what you could consider a delicatessen of simple and homey Vietnamese deserts. It’s not a fancy French pastry place or anything but does have a lot of comfort sweet foods. While they certainly don’t have every Vietnamese desert available they do carry different kinds of sticky sweet rice-for example shredded coconut or soy beans in it. They also have multiple types of Vietnamese style mochi and gelatin type desserts. I don’t know the names of all the things they sell, but I have tasted a majority of those dishes and they are all very good! The che is especially good. Remember to BC-BRINGCASH!

One of the best che places around. I don’t know why there are so many negative reviews. Never had a problem here. If you don’t know what to get or are confused get the one with the banana in coconut milk and tapioca pearls. That’s my favorite one! :) Parking lot can be ok, sometimes a hassle because let’s face it… Bolsa is not known for their good drivers lol. I live a block away and always see at least one accident every other day around here. Cash only, as most places are in Bolsa. Don’t expect the best service. This is strictly about the che!

To be honest I’m not the biggest che fan but on this particular day I was really craving something sweet with a hint of coconut so I made my way through Che Hien Khanh. My folks have been coming here for a minute. I remember how they use to bring che home from here but I would seldom eat them. I don’t really know most of the names of the che(I know I’m so out of touch with my heritage). What I do like though is that green one that kinda looks like gummy worms lol. I actually picked that up and finished it super duper quick. It was extremely delicious. Like I said, I’m not big on che but this is the one place that makes them super bomb so if I ever have a craving I make my way through. Aside from che they also have sticky rice. You know, the red looking rice thats a bit sweet. Thats my absolute most favorite thing. I have to get it everytime I’m here. Overall, the store is a bit ghetto appearance wise but don’t let that fool you. They have some of the best Vietnamese desserts in town. The service is decently nice and the ambiance is whatevers. The positives outweight the negatives.

Love their desserts! though I don’t understand or speak any sort of Vietnamese so I’m always pointing to what I want to order. But they still serve and greet me with a smile haha. Their green sticky rice with coconut shavings is really good. I’m not a huge dessert person but I like things that are not too sweet. Asian desserts tend to be on the less sweet side and this serves some good stuff like tapioca, flan, sesame balls, sticky rice and coconut milk goes with many of their items. Their stuff is fresh and delicious. CASHONLY

We came here at the recommendation of a friend, who said this place sold yummy Vietnamese desserts. We got in line and checked it out. :) Ordered Sweet coconut milk-like pudding with tapioca, mochi and some type of fruit. The workers there don’t really speak English, so we were at a lost. I just pointed at something that looked decent and something I would eat, and ordered it. Each cup was only less than $ 2, super cheap/reasonable. Too much variety in the store, I’ll have to be bold enough to try the others next time. haha btw, the item I ordered was TOOSWEET!
