They have been in business for so long and for a very good reason. They will accommodate you for your needs and time and even if you need to push back the date, they offered money back. My daughters cake was $ 18 and tasted so much better than Givral. Givral quoted me $ 130 for a 6 inches cake. I had to ask her again since I bought from them 2 years ago for a cake for $ 24. I had to ask the lady again, what’s the price again? She said it loud and clear!!! $ 130! That’s more expensive than a wedding cake considering the size! So I will take my lifetime business somewhere else and will never go back to Givral. Van’s had made their cakes more modern these days and they never failed me. Thank you!

This review is strictly for their macaroons. It’s a tad more expensive(1.50/piece) than brodard’s(1.35) so there’s that for ya. The texture wasn’t my favorite — they’re a bit too crunchy so it crumbles and you get little bits and pieces all over your pants after every bite. I prefer my macaroon a little chewy if you know what i mean. the filling was also a bit loose, not as firm and lacks flavor.

Van’s bakery used to be the go to place for birthday cakes. Now, so many bakeries are popping up. I usually go to the Korean bakeries as their cakes are more delicious! The must trys at Van’s: –chicken/pork pâté chauds –pork sung –flan cake: topped with fresh fruit. Yummy! –Vietnamese yogurt –Fruit smoothies: avocado is the best. Soursop is also good! –Ice blended coffee: my fave is the cappuccino. Very bold coffee flavor with a hint of sweetness. The bakery is located in the same plaza as ABC supermarket and BofA. Parking is difficult depending on the time of day. They accept credit which is a perk. I am still a fan of Van’s for the past 2 decades.

We came here to pick up some baked goods. My dad picked out some desserts and my wife picked out some traditional Vietnamese meat pastries. Well, we missed lunch so my wife shared some with us. Overall, it was very good and happy we were able to try it. The chewy sesame candy was very chewy and just as my wife remembered. Next time, we will be sure to revisit this place. There are several locations but this one is the better of the small chains.

I usually frequent the Brookhurst or Harbor locations, but decided to try this one out today because I wanted to see if this location offers Ice Cream Macarons — which they do. This Vans is on Bolsa just west of Magnolia — away from the asian garden mall. It took me a while to find it, but this store seems to be the brightest and most modern looking store out of all the Vans Bakeries and I was hopeful of good things. Unfortunately, the cashier(in her 40s) took advantage of the fact that I am not Vietnamese. I asked the cost of a small round cake and was quoted $ 19, when a viet customer purchased the very same for $ 14. The other locations on Brookhurst and Harbor sell their macarons at $ 1.50 each or buy 10, get 2 free at $ 15.00 per dozen. I asked how much it was for a dozen and the cashier lady said«$ 1.50 Each — No special, never!». WTF. I looked on their Unilocal page after I left and other customers have purchased it at that discounted price! On top of getting gypped, the macarons were hard, brittle with no flavor. I’m not sure how the Vans Bakeries work — if the baked goods are all baked in 1 warehouse and distributed, or prepared by each individual store, but I prefer the macarons at Harbor and Brookhurst locations. The macarons at those locations are moist and hold more flavor. Oh and if you’re still wondering — this location did in fact have Ice Cream Macarons. Thai Tea, Strawberry, and Jasmine Tea. $ 3.50 each. Meh. Here is my observation as far as all Vans: — Harbor: If its your 1st time going, the cashier lady may seem a little harsh as far as attitude — she just has a dry personality, but is straight up and always helpful. The macarons here are the best out of the rest of the Vans in my opinion. — Brookhurst: Friendly! The workers here are probably the nicest out of all the bakeries. This store holds more variety as far as dried goods, snacks & drinks. Not a bad store at all. — Bolsa/Magnolia: Eh. Read my review above. — Bolsa Asian Garden Mall: I have yet to try. Everytime Im on Bolsa it seems to be on a Sunday(traffic) or an event is going on(hella traffic). (25÷100; 2016)

I’ve been going here ever since I was little, when my parents and I would come down from an hour away to stock up on groceries at ABC Supermarket. All my birthday cakes came from here, and even now I always stop by for their macarons and other pastries — they make everything French style, so it’s not overly rich and sweet like the American bakeries I usually have to go to in my city for cakes. I had my first crème brûlée here, too, which probably was what got my sweet tooth going. They also have great pâté chaud, which always great to stock up on as weekday snacks. I’ll probably always be stopping by when I’m down in Little Saigon, because they’re not only a great bakery, but also because their location is extremely convenient. The supermarket and a Bánh Chè Cali are right in the same lot, which makes it easy to get all your Vietnamese food essentials in one go.

I came through looking for chinese new years gifts for the relatives and big homies. Usually I would make my way to the other Van’s Bakery but this one has super great ratings and truth be told I never actually been to this one so I figured why not. Its in the heart of Asian central which mean tons of traffic, frustration from Truong, and limited parking available. Still this is a great Van’s Bakery. They have everything that the other stores have except they just seem more nicer for some reason. They packing your items in their red bags designed for the new years which looks absolutely nice. I love the attention to details… keep it up. They actually have better customer service here than I had originally anticipated. I picked up a lot of items and was helped quickly and efficiently. They also accept cards which means… hurray! Overall this is probably the best Van’s Bakery out of the 3 I’ve gone too. Better more nicer looking items. Can’t beat that.

Holy cow. I remember always going here every weekend when I was a kid with my family. On the weekends my family would make the drive from San Diego to Santa Ana to reup on their asian groceries and my mom would always stop by this bakery and we would order their popular fruit cakes, pandan cakes, and such. To be honest I was really sad coming here because they downsized and now the store size is a small portion of what it used to be. I guess they don’t need that big of a space anymore. Regardless, I will always visit this little bakery and support it anytime that I am in the area because it takes me back to my childhood youth when my parents would buy me my favorite asian snacks/bakery. *My mother loves to purchase beef jerky here as well. Apparently they make jerky fresh and sell different varieties of them here. I think their jerky compeitor Vua Kho Bo is the reason why they downsized because when the shop was bigger they used to have different huge size tubs of jerky galore!

This is the best bakery in town. Me and wife go there twice a week and they never disappoint us. The owners are wonderful people. We highly recommend this bakery.

Came here to try grab some macaroons for my daughter and one of the macaroons was hard as a rock. Sadly I didn’t notice till we got home :(so If you come here for the macaroons just check they are not expired, you can tell by the feel of them. Also terrible customer service.

I came from San Diego looking for pandan waffles!!! Usually I go to the Asian garden mall during night market for this but I saw a previous review about how good it was here. I got here and the only ones they had were these old soggy dry depressing ones in bags It’s sad to see a pandan waffle that isn’t green, fluffy and crispy.

This place got a whole lot smaller, but the green waffles are still here! I drive 28 miles for this yumness and other coconut treats. Their buns are delicious too.

My cousin had bought one of these cakes a few months back for her mother’s birthday party it was so good I had to get one myself. It is refreshing and satisfying to have fruit along with a tart feeling. The only disclaimer I have is you got to be careful when transporting it it tends to shift off the base so make sure you lay it flat The cake I bought was $ 45 a bit pricey but the experience of having something you enjoy has no price tag to me

I was excited to try this bakery with all the good Unilocal reviews but this place ruined my taste buds They take credit card with minimum purchase of $ 10. So I ordered cheese cake looking thing, jack fruit boba, pork pâté, and premade noodle. Cheese cake looking dessert tasted like eggs with bad aftertaste. It tasted stale. Jack fruit boba also tasted old boba with blended jack fruit from a can. Premade food was also a bad choice as well. It’s premade! My mistake for picking premade food. Over all the service was not friendly and their food was below average.

The macaroons are fantastic, the boba is BOMB. I always buy cake here. They sell the candy there(That I love btw) that my grandma used to give me when I was a child. Love this place, though the place is located in a kinda Asian store neighborhood lol? Edit: whoa, is it just me, or did some of the macaroons get WAY sweeter, i didn’t even finish one until my stomach hurted from the sweetness.(meant one from those mini 8 macaroon container)

4. 32118180514200318640128 Stars. Van-tastic! I can see why some of my Unilocal friends like this bakery. It is Van-tastic! The assortment of pastry and beef products is tremendous for a small bakery. I loved snapping pictures of the toys and candy holders with cool designs on them. Parking is pretty easy to find **GPS confused me, but I found Van’s Bakery** Service was rather good, not sure how to rate it, nothing unusual or bad. I will be returning about Van’s Bakery, until I’m back, I will think of you endlessly Song parody of The Beatles 1963 song«All My Loving» Serve your pie and I’m blissful Tomorrow I’ll miss you Remember, I’ll always review And then while in L.A. Would NEVER patronize this disgusting place again. AVOIDATALLCOSTS! My husband is working out of town and was going to miss seeing our daughter on her birthday. He decided to do a mini celebration on his one day off. He stopped at Vans to grab a cake. Get home, sing happy birthday, cut the cake. The strawberries in the filling were brown, so rotten they were mush and stinky. My daughter could not eat her birthday cake. Husband calls to complain. First, they said they didn’t speak English. Then he had to come back so they could cancel the transaction from processing. Took the cake with him and was offered half refund cuz the cake was not whole. Husband says this is unacceptable. The strawberries were ROTTEN. Owner assures him, charge is canceled and will not process. 3 days later, charge goes through. We call back. Again, pretending they don’t speak English. Finally, owner says husband can come back(again!) for cash. Husband goes back and the owner is not there. They get him to come in. He argues for 30 minutes and says he’s not refunding for 30 days. Eventually he gives up and gives hubs cash. Not only selling disgusting rotten cakes but the customer service is beyond horrendous. Never again.

Price is reasonable(actually compared to other bakeries, they’re cheap). We tried some macaroons and they were not bad(considering they’re only $ 1.50 and bigger than other places). We tried a few of their pastries and their taste and quality were comparable to the typical Asian chain(I found these to be a bit better as it wasn’t that sweet), but cost less. One thing though is if you don’t speak Vietnamese make sure you brush up on your sign language(not the middle finger), as it can be frustrating trying to order from their menu board or ordering drinks.

Macarons($ 1.50 — great price) Review: Faves: Caramel: 5 stars moist, delicious & yummy =) Raspberry: 5 stars fruity on the inside & soft deliciousness on the outside. Chocolate: 4 stars chocolatey but not enough softness. =( Coconut: 4 stars love the coconut shavings on the outside but needed more coconutty flavor =P Love their pâté chauds here, great deal & delicious at the same time. =) Fruit cakes here are yummy because they’re not overly sweet like American places & has a great balance of fruitiness & sweetness.

This is a review for their wedding cakes They are inexpensive and decorated the way you like. I got a red velvet cake here and estimated for 150 people. They quoted us and the price was less costly than anywhere I had visited in the area. They were really easy. I wanted 3 dozen white roses on my cake. They told me to have someone bring it the day before with a photo of exactly what I wanted. They asked me what time I wanted the cake by and for the day of it arrived exactly on time. The cake was exactly as I wanted and even better. The only downfall was that the cake was a little titled. No one noticed it but I did. Overall, all my guest loved the cake. At Van’s they let you rent their cake stand, which they credit you back your $ 50 when you return it. No other cake places in the area will do that. Although their shop isn’t as beautifully decorated and their cakes on display might be hideously decorated, they are experienced and have been doing what they do for forever. They are pros. Just give them a photo or map out the design you like and they will have it right. My biggest complaint about Vans was no cake tasting. I had to buy their red velvet cake to see if it was what I hoped. In the end, cake tasting or none, I was extremely happy I went with them.
