Nothing fancy, but some of the best classic New England food in the area! Really enjoyed the experience

Don’t judge this place by its appearance because the food is really good. The kids tried the lava burger and it was good. The curly fries were awesome! The chili was«nice and spicy» and the salad was good too! Service was pretty slow though. We were done with our meals for quite a while before someone came over to bus the table or bring our bill.

Solid 4 stars. I love this place! Agreed with David S that if you rate this under 4, you’re outta your bird. Love the vibe, love the food, love the drinks. Service was odd– 3 servers watching over the whole restaurant, but they were sharing all the tables, so we were asked if we wanted drinks by 3 different people. Fried food isn’t really my thing, but the soft shell crab was on point, as was the Bloody Mary. On Friday’s at 3 pm, they have beer boats where you get 30 beers for $ 30 bucks. Challenge accepted.

My absolute favorite spot to eat, it is absolutely delicious and the bartenders are so friendly. It may look like an old run down building but that just adds to the character of the building. The burgers are the best and I love the mussels as well.

If someone ranks this place less than four stars they just don’t get the place. Good food at very reasonable prices. No white tablecloths on purpose.

My colleagues and I decided to try the Black Duck after reading reviews and seeing it appeared on diners drive-ins and dives. The restaurant is quaint very bar like in nature the food however it is far more than your average bar fair. The steamers were fantastic cooked perfectly and tasted delicious, several of us had lobster again cooked perfectly and delicious. The waitstaff was energetic and fun the food came quickly and everything was just as ordered. Definitely a place to try if you’re in the area

Stopped by this local watering hole for a couple drinks a few weeks back. After politely asking for a beer menu, the bartender who resembled the Sloth man from the movie«The Goonies» brashly replied«Order what you got in college buddy, this is the Black Duck Café». After hearing that remark, I chugged whatever watered down crap they served me and promptly asked for my check which I received 30 minutes later after the ogre of a bartender knocked back a few shots of alcohol with the lowlife townies that frequent the joint. I would rather run a barefoot 5k through broken glass than to ever return to this sad excuse of a bar again. Unless you enjoy dealing with an arrogant old staff full of seemingly drunk dimwits I highly recommend avoiding this«establishment» at all cost.

If you’re looking for good quality seafood… this place is a big nope! I know everyone raves about this place because it was on that show with Guy Fieri… and yes the atmosphere is pretty cool and it’s a fun place to get a drink and listen to some music. But the food is not good. I’ve tried multiple seafood dishes here thinking they will be fresh. And they never are. Chewy, smelly fish. Over cooked, extremely greasy fried food. I would only recommend the black duck as a place to sit for a couple drinks, that’s it!

Sat at bar — basic burgers were burnt and had no flavor, French fries served on side were cold and tasteless. The bathroom was terribly dirty. Bartop smelled like an old dish rag had been used to wipe down the bar. Could be a cool location — but come on /clean at least once a year. Not returning

A hole in the wall but a great spot on the water. Low key, cold beer, and classic rock, what could be better?

Always good quality food — a step above bar food — and a robust bar. This is a local landmark — and the venue has a little tilt — toward port and the bow. All with a little touch of class.

A Westport landmark ;)) alway great people watching And the bartenders are the BEST! Fun guys that want everyone to have a good time… They usually have a band on the weekends with a small cover 5 $ Tons of parking and an outdoor area and it’s easy to get to. They do have a kitchen serving, burgers and wings… Food is good for bar food… The best thing about the black duck is the bartenders, you guys ROCK!

What a great place! Great all around. Food, servers, atmosphere, regulars. I had a LONG(and probably boring) review ready but suffice to say, the tenders are friendly and the atmosphere is welcoming. Judging by the scratched and scrawled graffiti in the mens room, Im sure it gets a bit rowdy at night. Right on the docks and whatnot but thats not the draw. Its the excellent food and service. They serve proper steamers which are quite pricy but the wednesday special of steamed littlenecks for 5 $ satisfies as well. Great chowda too.

Certain things are phoned-in(the fried appetizers), but the burgers and other items are works of art. The staff aren’t very polite but we get a kick out of that. It fits the divey narrative. A must-do if you’re hanging out near the train station in Westport.

It’s practically like being at a Michelin star restaurant. The ambiance is impeccable: slanted floors, vintage furniture and designed to give you that rustic marina look. The restaurant caters to an eclectic clientele. Sometimes the restaurant is completely surrounded by water on all sides in the fall season after a storm to give you the dining over the water experience. Kidding, I’m all about the clams casino, lobster rolls and cheap drinks.

This is an old rundown café that is partly stilted at the edge of a lake in Westport. The flooring is warped from age — feels like you are on a boat. It has a historic background that began in 1929, so you will read and see nostalgic Black Duck racing boat memorabilia. The service while waiting to be seated was slow as the staff rushed by paying no attention to us until they had time and space for seating. It felt awkward because I didn’t know for sure where to stand without being in someone’s way. But, it was super busy, the food was amazing, and the staff was very pleasant once we were seated. We started out with the Cajun Popcorn Shrimp. It was hardly cajun even though they advertise it as «from down on the bayou,» but they were tasty small popcorn shrimps. I particularly enjoyed the favor of the breading and tartar sauce. I had the Fish n’ Chips as a lunch entrée’. I ordered the platter for $ 18.00. It came with a side salad, two large portions of crispy breaded scrod fillets, and curly fries(pictured). The scrod is not greasy and the batter doesn’t become soggy. It was truly the best I’ve ever had. The rest of my family had burgers and were very satisfied with their choices.

Such a fun place to go to for a night of dinner and drinks! I’ve been three times now with a Westport native and have been pleased with each visit. Quick service, cheap drinks, and live music if you hit the right night. Tip: Try out the Mozzarella Square. Absolute bliss!

This was my second time and my husbands first at the Black Duck. There clams casinos are the best. The service was ok being that it was lunch time and only 1 person waiting in the tables, but she did a great job! I tried escargot for the first time ever. The sweet potato fries are to die for. Will definitely be going back.

The timing was perfect. The night before I was headed to Westport for the day, an episode of «Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives» featured this restaurant. Once I saw Guy chowing on a bleu cheese stuffed burger, I knew I had to try this place out. This is definitely the epitome of a «dive». Located on a harbor, it’s a small, unpretentious shack building, with boat trinkets decorating the place. I didn’t even need to look at the menu, as Guy Fieri decided it for me. The bleu cheese burger met my expectations: juicy, cooked well, and oozy cheese. The onion rings were a good choice too; crispy and not too oily. The service isn’t overly friendly, just straight shooting. When my friend asked how the Canadian bacon and mozzarella burger was, the waitress replied«Well, do you like those ingredients? Then you’ll like this burger.» I’ll definitely go back and have the brie stuffed burger, that was also featured on «DDD».

Sunday’s cheesy eggs still rock. It opens too late for me though(11 am) to partake more often for brunch. I get hungry early. Today’s schedule worked out perfectly though. Got here at 12 and bar seating was already packed! At 12:22, there is a waiting line. Look at menu trivia I included. Love them making fun of the local yuppies! It’s a great vibe overall as all sorts of people fill the old slanted barge. You’ve got your local yuppies with their brood, you’ve got the old crusty drunks and you’ve got the tourists stopping in to check out this Diners, Drive-in and Dives spot. It’s the perfect spot to enjoy a mimosa and catch up on my reading of the antics of 14ft. Royal reptilians, the Galactic Federation, the underground Agarthan network, etc. etc. Crazy topics at a crazy, eclectic location. As I’ve mentioned before, it’s a fine place for vegetarians. You will find options on the menu.
