I used to frequent Crumbs before they got bought out by Marcus Lemonis. The shelves would be lined with an array of cupcakes, even at the end of the day. They weren’t the best cupcakes, but they always had a huge variety which is why I kept going back. I’d give them 3.5 stars if it was like that today. Last week I stopped in after work, my first time there in about a year. Needless to say I don’t think I’ll be back. The store was completely empty despite every other store in Westport being busy. Almost all of the display cases were empty… except for the prepackaged gluten free items. The girl behind the counter was very attentive and friendly, the only reason I’m giving 2 stars. She could tell me disappointment and said that this was all they had today. It baffled me that a CUPCAKE store only had prepackaged gluten free cake slices and cookies. She reassured me that that was all they had the entire day. HUGE disappointment Mr. Lemonis.

This is a cute Crumbs location. Nice area and cute store. It’s much bigger than the other locations I’ve visited and they actually have a decent sized dining room with a bunch of tables. We were there on a week day afternoon and it was pretty dead, just one other party came in as we were finishing our cupcakes. Delicious cupcakes!

I’m not a big fan of chocolate, so I usually get the Birthday cake or the plain vanilla, and I really enjoy them. I was devastated when they closed,(actually on my birthday last year), and was one of the first in the door when they opened. The cake, although a bit dry, is not as rich as some of the other cupcakes that I’ve had locally, and the icing is my favorite part of the entire thing. The sprinkles really confuse me, as they are incredibly crunchy, yet the rest of the cupcake is not, but they’re really good, regardless. The coffee that they serve here isn’t that great, but the cupcakes make up for it. It’s a great place to stop in for a treat after lunch, and although the cupcakes are so huge you can only eat half, it tastes just as good later. I haven’t tried some of the other things in the store that people are complaining about, but I guess I will jsut so I can update this review.

Basically Crumbs is crumbling! Since Mr. Lemonis took over this business it has gone downhill, especially in the Westport store. I tried to give this place a chance since it reopened. It is a nice stop to sit and not worry about the craziness in the Starbuck’s across the street, but now I know why! You can count of the coffee to be cold and the scones or anything other than their cupcakes to be stale. I think Mr. Lemonis needs to get to this store as an Undercover Boss to see what is really going on. There is hardly ever anyone in the store and I don’t mean customers, I can sit in the store for over half hour with nobody at the register or inside the store cleaning up or anything. Simply said, anyone can walk in and take whatever and walk right out. The staff is always slow to react and looks like they don’t even want to be there. I have attached a few pictures on a nice weekend day, when any store should have at least a few customers! And someone working there to clean… look at the hair piece on the floor, absolutely disgusting! Unsanitary! Does Mr. Lemonis even care of this is just another one of his investment toy to play and discard? They can’t even make a decent hot chocolate without spilling something, it is truly pathetic and sad. I agree with some of the comments here that Crumbs, especially in Westport, is totally overrated. I am better off making my own coffee at home and buying a cupcake at any large grocery store.

I’ve been here a few times, always when I’m in a hurry and no time to get to a better place. Although they’re very visually appealing, the cupcakes here are on par with what you’d expect from an average box mix. You can find comparable quality in any supermarket’s cupcakes. There are many other stores where you can buy cupcakes that taste much better than here. I’m puzzled by the rave reviews — have they not eaten cupcakes from anywhere else?

Delicious enough to keep me coming back every Monday for my weekly cupcake fix! Cookie Dough and Blackout are my two«go to’s,» but I’ve also had(and enjoyed) the Milkshake, Vanilla with Chocolate Frosting, and Red Velvet. My other favorite is the Baba Booey with the peanut butter/chocolate cream cheese frosting, but that hasn’t been in stores in a very long time :(The only one I haven’t enjoyed is the Peanut Butter Cup because it’s made with buttercream instead of cream cheese frosting, and I’m not a huge fan of buttercream. The cake was delicious though! Staff at this location is super nice and always willing to help you choose a flavor! Definitely a go to spot on downtown Westport for a sweet tooth fix!

I loved the old crumbs and i’m so glad it’s returned, however at the moment the experience isn’t what it once was. Cupcakes are equally as moist and delicious. Fewer cupcake options. Coffee is no longer Starbucks. Staff are are not nearly as good as they used to be. The sole staffer working on my visit was busy stuffing her face with cupcakes the whole time.

I recently went to the newly opened crumbs bake shop while visiting family in Westport! It was great to see new vibrant faces! I went on the Saturday after thanksgiving and it seemed a little busy, the two employees behind the counter just seemed to mesh and work well taking drink orders and helping the customers at the counter! I tried the banana pudding cupcake and let me say OHMYGOD!!! It was so fresh and moist! I was a tad skeptical that they weren’t servings Starbucks coffee any longer, but I had the hazelnut flavor of what I was told to be their brand… it was really well! Next time I am there I will defiantly have to try those awesome looking brownies! Thank you for reopening crumbs!!!

Just recently reopened in the center of Westport. Even though I am more of a Magnolia fan I had high expectations given the new ownership and the supposed retooling of the product. Wow /it was awful. Cupcake is stale /over cooked /very dry. No real taste of lemon. Totally disappointed and will not be going back. This place definitely won’t be on The Profit

Crumbs is located in downtown Westport within walking distance of the library and many other upscale shops. I only tried this place because someone else was buying. I am glad I did because I would not want to waste my own money on these cupcakes. For the price of a few cupcakes, you could go to the local supermarket, buy cake mix and frosting and make 10x more cupcakes. When I questioned the cashier(he was very nice!) about the cupcakes and if they were made on the premises, he said they were imported from somewhere else. Who knows how long these cupcakes had been sitting there? As a amateur baker, I was slightly disappointed. I was impressed with the number of flavors they had displayed. They even offer giant cupcakes which probably could be cut up and shared like a regular cake. Pastries, cookies and danishes were also displayed. I ordered two of the birthday cupcakes. White frosting and white cake with multicolored sprinkles on top. My friend ordered a Reeses cupcake. I am allergic to peanuts and asked that cupcake could be packed up separately and they gladly complied with my request. I felt that the cake was very moist and flavorful but the icing was a bit hard and not soft. I felt disappointed because I knew they weren’t 100% fresh.

Crumbs is very overrated. Expect Average quality at premium prices. I have had several things here including several different cupcakes. The quality is equal to or in some cases marginally better than your average supermarket bake shop, but the prices are double. Items range from ok to good. Nothing is great. Most of the cupcakes that I have had are very dry. Save your money and go to Fresh market, whole foods, Stew Leonard’s or Balducci’s as have better quality cupcakes for a better price

Cupcakes from here are great. Rather large, they last(freshness) for a solid two days before they start getting weird. I wish they regularly stocked«Lolly LaCrumb» It’s a pink cake with pink fondant and sprinkles on the edge, amazing… but rare. The parking for this location is kind of annoying, but do-able.

Be prepared to spend $ 4 a cupcake here. Great selection– fresh and pre packed cupcakes plus a nice indoor area with tables so you can stay for a while. Plenty of parking in the lot across the street too, which is a rare find in downtown Westport.

The worst artifact of the cupcake fad. At least the independent cupcake shops that are popping up around CT make their products fresh and with some semblance of passion. Crumbs = not fresh/shipped in, ridiculously sweet, expensive. When they had their own coffee, it was pretty good and nice to have an alternative to Starbucks downtown. Now they just serve a worse-prepared Starbucks. If you’re going to get in on the fad, support a local shop.

I tried the red velvet cupcake which was delicious. One of the reasons I tried this is that the majority of their cupcakes have a cream filling, which I do not like generally because it takes away space from perfectly good cake! The cake itself was moist, not too sweet, and just the right amount of spongey. The cream cheese frosting was a little too sweet, but very tasty. My main critique is that they do not have a menu that describes the cupcakes(type of frosting, cake, fillings, etc). And trying to hear their descriptions through the glass display that separates you from the employees was tricky.

To be honest, I am not a sweets’ fan, but my boyfriend is. And, I heard about this place from a friend who highly recommend it. So, my boyfriend and I went there this past Sunday, and I did like it. The store is very clean, simply and open. There were tables and chairs outside of the store too. The cupcakes were big~!! And tasted great~!! The most wonderful thing for me is that they have nice beverage menu, SOYMILK was great~~~!! I totally will go back~!

I’ll admit that this visit to Crumbs was my first experience with a «cupcake boutique.» The place looks great inside and out, and the display case entices with several dozen varieties of cupcakes and pastries… but even among the endless options, something is missing: there is no aroma. It smells like any other store. Hence, the term«boutique» instead of «bakery,» as nothing is actually made here. That’s a shame. After perusing the display case and carefully considering all of the delectable flavors, I settled on three different cupcakes and added three bite-sized pieces of apple rugelach, for a total of around … get ready … $ 16. My selections included a «limited edition» cupcake that looked like a red apple(but was merely vanilla & chocolate batter — not marbled), the«blackbottom cheesecake brownie» and the«cookies & cream.» They were all kind of dry, each one far better looking than tasting. The best of the three was the one that contained cheesecake, as it provided some level of moisture. The frostings on each were unremarkable. In fact, the best part of this cupcake carnival was the non-cupcake item: the rugelach, with its dense and sweet dough providing stark contrast to the crumbly mess the cupcakes left behind. Everything about this store is in the presentation, and they do that very well. The store is extremely clean and attractive, the employees are very friendly, the menu is large enough to satisfy anybody, and the cupcakes look great. They’re even packed up in slick transparent packaging materials that ensure the cupcakes are always visible. I can’t say I’d get any of the three cupcakes I tried again, though I would go back to try more of the pastry items and perhaps a cupcake with other moist ingredients, such as apple. I’d sooner recommend you make cupcakes at home or grab them from a better grocery or reputable bakery. However, this is a nice place to sit down and spend some time in Westport center, if you’re looking for what is really the only alternative to Starbucks One should also note that the Post Road address is misleading — it’s actually behind Tiffany & Co., across from the library on the corner of Taylor & Jesup.

HUGE Pseudo cupcakes. Big on fancy marketing & lots-o-choices all sprinkled, decorated & embellished. The combinations offered honestly sound more tantalizing & look more decedent than they actually taste. I do believe many of the offerings are«shipped in». Yuk. Bistro tables & chairs, clean, good coffee, big sunny windows, parking is best in the back by the library. Maybe this is just a convenient option for Westport woman who don’t bake & require a place that can supply them w cupcakes for their kid’s parties. At the risk of sounding mean I have to say that I’m just not impressed.

One thing that has always disappointed me about Westport is the lack of coffee shops, in particular around the Main St. shopping area. Yes, there is a Starbucks… but it’s located between a parking lot and route 1, and it completely lacks character. Not a good place to hang out after shopping or to stop for coffee with friends. Crumbs is a welcome addition to the area. I especially like that it’s tucked behind the main shopping area facing the saugatuck river. And the outdoor seating is a big plus! So why only 3 stars? Crumbs has a chain or franchise feel which I don’t like much, and you can tell that the baked goods were not made on premises, much like at a Starbucks or other chains. It doesn’t take much to pick out a real bakery — you can simply smell it in the air. The coffee and cookie were ok and I’ll have to come back to give one of the cupcakes a try. They did have a huge variety of cupcakes, but sometimes such a variety is not a good thing. We’ll see on my next visit…

omg! Crumbs is open in Westport. You don’t have to go to NYC for kickass cupcakes anymore! awesome! I was psyched when the Stamford shop opened. now they are even closer! Their cupcakes may cost a little more than other places but they are worth it! right off main street — located behind Tiffanys, right on the big parking lot near the library/police dept. easy to run in and get an 18 pack to go!
