The ambience is very nice and the lighting really adds to the atmosphere. The service was just right. We ordered apps and a margarita pizza to share. Octopus app was done perfectly. I was not a fan of the farro app. It was cold and a bit mushier than my taste but the goat cheese was good. The pizza was done well and all in all it was a good night. The drinks were the usual suspects.

The service here is unbelievably bad. They were out of what I wanted on the menu without warning, then we waited 1 hour for our entrée(actually it’s been an hour and it still isn’t here). I asked for a ½ carafe of wine so that I would have something with the meal. No they couldn’t accommodate that. Full glass or nothing. To be continued…

Especially four stars by the excellent service that we received on a impromptu visit here this past weekend for an early dinner. Nice ambiance, the bar is nice and next time we’ll sit there for a meal. We started with the pork belly and octopus appetizers and both were very good, solid dishes although both seemed a tad over done. Still we demolished both. Wife ordered the hanger steak entrée which she said was kind of chewy and upon trying myself confirmed to be. Our very observant waiter came over to check on us and upon hearing our feedback, promptly apologized and asked if we would like another steak something else on the menu. Manager also came over and sincerely apologized. Wife then ordered the salmon which was very good. Thank you to the team at Tarry Lodge!

This was my first time at Tarry Lodge. For a celebrity-chef restaurant, I was surprised of the off-key locale(across from the Westport station) in a smallish location with a tight parking lot that seems just big enough. Entering the restaurant is an awkward space in between diners, the bar and the hostess. So, if you have to wait, there isn’t really anywhere to linger while you wait. I suggest making a reservation. I ordered the ricotta appetizer that came drizzled in honey with pomegranate seeds and another type of fruit(can’t recall) to spread on a couple pieces of toast. It was a nice starter that was just big enough to share. My wife got the bucatini, while I settled for the Burrata pizza. The pizza was cooked just enough, maybe could have used another minute or two in the oven. The Burrata melted in your mouth and left a nice runny drizzle that you could stop up with the crust. The bucatini was good, but other items looked more enticing like the bolognese or the carbonara. It’s a bit pricy, as drinks are at least $ 8. For pizza and pasta, with a drink and app, and you’re looking at a $ 70 bill for two. I guess you’re paying for the name brand and are also in a town with oodles of disposal income so you can get away with charging a premium. I’d be happy to go back, as it seems like a good spot to eat at the bar with a glass of wine and a pie. Minus one star for the price. Portions are large enough and leave you satisfied. Much of the restaurant and my description leaves me with the sense that everything was just enough(parking, portion size, pace of service, etc.).

Pizza is overpriced. Pasta was fresh and very good. Overall good. Would have given a higher score but they over reserved the restaurant on a Saturday night and it was very packed. They sat my husband and I in front of an emergency exit which is obviously not safe at all… And we had this big red emergency button at eye level in the middle of our table. Unhappy with seating to say the least. Probably would have enjoyed a couple more glasses of wine but the ambiance at that seat was terrible.

Made dinner reservations for my husbands 30th birthday for 6 people. We showed up and had our 7 month old baby with us. As first time parents we didn’t think to include the baby in the number of adults in the reservation. Literally as we are being sat down and getting comfortable the manager comes to our table and says ‘just so you know, babies count as people in the reservation’ and made us feel so uncomfortable as he was moving the table next to us a far enough distance away. We were left to feel that having a high chair at the end of our table was a huge inconvenience. However, our waitress was excellent(having a child of her own and making us feel more relaxed after our encounter with the manager). We all ordered pizzas and they were good, not exceptional. I ordered the sausage and Gorgonzola pizza but had to eat with a fork due to its sogginess. Luckily the cocktails were great. Overall, this restaurant left me confused. There were other families with their children sharing a brick oven pizza but the environment seemed uppity and fine dining(maybe because it’s Wesport, CT). Definitely wouldn’t bring my child again, maybe just a date night to share a pizza.

I had the goat cheese, pistachio, honey pizza. OMG it was out of this world. Ate it all myself. Also had the shishito peppers. I need to go back to try other pies. Nice place for our Sunday late lunch.

We had eaten here a couple of years ago and enjoyed it very much. But the other night, I was very disappointed with the whole experience. From the time I placed my order over the phone, which he got wrong; but I went with what he’d already put into the computer. Then, when I arrived to pick up the order, he had forgotten to put my salad on the ticket. So my pizzas were ready, but I had to wait 15 minutes for the salad to be made. When I saw the salad, it looked like it was prepackaged and had been sitting ready to go in their cold box for hours. For the cost of the food, the taste of it does not compare. The food was AVERAGE at best, especially when you take into account what you pay for it. I was talking to a friend who went to Mario’s signature restaurant, Bocce, in NYC and said it was awful. It looks like you have gotten a little too big for your britches Mario, I won’t be dining at any of your establishments any longer.

People rave about this place. It’s okay not great. I’ve heard so many people rave how they have amazing pizza. Definitely very far from being best pizza. The place is small and the service isn’t that great it’s okay. Overall I would say it’s okay. Probably won’t be going back any time soon.

Warm inviting atmosphere. Service was excellent. Food is fresh, delicious, and savory. There is a nice pizza bar… the menu is not overwhelming. An extensive wine list. Everyone is friendly and inviting.

I rate this as 3.5 stars on their take out service. I’ve had their burrata pizza and I have to say it is by far my favorite item on their menu aside from their flourless chocolate cake :) I’ve had their pastas, — spaghetti carbonara: too oily and dry — squid ink pasta w/shrimp: good dish but, considering this is a Mario & Joe restaurant I was really expecting a lot more. I’ve had better squid ink pasta in NY. — linguine w/clams: was on point! The salads are pretty tasty and fresh. I had also tried their roasted chicken which is a hit or miss. It’s always well seasoned and juicy yet, there were a couple of incidents it has been a little undercooked and we had to throw it back in the oven to finish cooking. We had stopped ordering from here but, I am willing to see how their dining service is…

Attitude of the wait staff and chef is obnoxious, pathetic and embarrassing. Who do you think you are? I have travelled all over the world and live in NYC and LA and I decided to have a birthday dinner for my 81 yr old mother there. What a mistake. I’ve been before and the food is normally good. The waiter was completely ubnoxious, egotistical and unfriendly. He walks up to our table staring at his iPad with a smug look on his face and takes our orders which we’re filled with thank you’s, may I have, and please. This guy has the worst attitude. But The real point of this review is… My 81 year old mother orders a salad and she wants to split it with dad. So they hand her a salad fork to split it herself… She nicely says to the busboy(very nice guy) «can you have them split it in back so I dont spill on my dress.» He takes it back and our puss faced waiter slaps it back on our table and says the chef won’t split it and it’s house rules. No I’m sorry or I apologize or let me just do it for you… Huh? Is that the way you would treat your mother or grandmother? Who does the chef think he is? What a joke. If it wasn’t my mom’s birthday I would have gotten up and pulled the waiter aside and told him his attitude is awful to his face. It felt like he was doing me a favor waiting on us I am really looking forward to going back and telling him and the chef my feelings in person. The other embarrassing part of this restaurant is how all the help stand around in the middle of the restaurant and just chat, laugh, and disgustingly constantly touch the female help. I witnessed it at least 6 times. Guys, it’s not 1970 anymore. You can’t touch women who are working. In business, you can do 2 things. Listen to tough criticism and make swift changes or you can listen, put your nose up even higher and ignore it. Your choice but your future depends on customers and if this continues your arrogant attitude throughout this restaurant will be begging for clients. I’m a centurion member and have already talked to Amex about this unimaginable snooty attitude and for them to take actions on their review site.

It’s the same thing every time we go, great food and inattentive service. Raviolo with ricotta and beets was out of this world, the pork belly app with pear mustarda could be my favorite pork belly ever, and the best pizza goes to their goat cheese truffle honey & pistachio pie. Food is always amazing. What they lack is service. Went on Tuesday night to a 90% empty room at around 8⁄830. Nothing but complacent bored looking 20 – 25 year old male servers milling around. We would’ve stayed for another drink and dessert, but nobody was around to grab that extra cocktail — so we lost interest. Especially when they’re the most overpriced drinks in town. Asked a passing kid for our check, which never communicated that to our server — who 5 minutes later came to ask if he could offer us a dessert menu. I told him we had already asked for our check, his look of surprise confirmed nobody told him. Came back dropped it, ran my card — and then we left without a single person saying goodnight or thank you. Ended up going over to Vespa for dessert and 2 more cocktails each. Tarry Lodge — I love your food, but the guest«experience» is so much more so than that.

As a proud Italian living un the States I can tell that this place is far from being Italian. Lets start from the food: Pizza and mozzarella where chewy. Mozzarella wasn’t fresh. Calamari where awful and looked weird, taste was disgusting. The only good thing of calamari was lemon slices(only thing really fresh). Food was far from being Italian and an insult to our country! Service was absent! The only thing that makes Batali Italian is only his last name.

Loved my experience at this Mario Batali restaurant! Would highly recommend if in the area. My boyfriend and I shared the following– — Octopus with charred peppers — Pappardelle Bolognese — Black Fettuccine with Rock Shrimp I was really trying hard to pick which pasta was my favorite but couldn’t. The fettuccine had a spicy kick so if you’re not into spice, i would avoid that one. Great cocktails and was able to get a reservation for 2 on a Saturday night at 9pm just a few hours before coming in. Would love to come back.

If I were rating the Tarry Lodge on the food alone, I’d give it a solid 3.5 stars; but this review is about the total dining experience, and in that case — it gets 2.5 stars. The food is decent enough and the menu offers a wide assortment of mixed region Italian food items. The pizza seems to be the shinning star on the menu and our table really liked the variety of pizza options. I enjoyed the kale salad and the pork chop(a bit dry). The wine selection is interesting — but left me wanting for something a bit more. Now for the downsides — the green leaf salad was crunchy and almost too difficult to eat. Why was it crunchy? The lettuce was not washed properly and had dirt residue. Not good. In addition, the server was efficient and cordial — but by no stretch of the imagination interested in assuring we had a stellar evening. As the evening started, one of the folks at our table asked the server if there were any specials on the menu. His reply, «no specials.» Nothing else. I guess that should have been our cue. The Tarry Lodge is good, but nothing special.

For starters great location plenty of parking nice layout inside, bright, I hate dark rest, let’s get started, first stop the bathroom nice and clean, one prob no paper towels, hand blow dryer, very unsanitary, especially when the workers share the same bathroom, Pedro Chopin lettuce has to take crap, waitress is pissed, so he has no time to wash let alone blow dry his hands now let’s get to the food if that’s what you want to call it, over over over rated super small portions warm not hot, over priced for the area, the drinks on the other hand where out of this world, I thought Mario batali was a famous chef not a bartender, the martinis awesome Only prob is at 15 dollars a drink at 3pm is a little steep, I have no prob paying 15 at park ave tavern or whiskey park both in Manhattan but Westport ct ?? WhhhAattt ohboy, save your money and dine at bertuccis in post road

Tonight we had the Grilled Octopus which was very good, the clam pizza, Burrata Heirloom Caprese, and the Fritto Misto with Calamari, Fluke and Rock Shrimp. All very good but could stand to have a bit more flavor– paticularly the sauce. The service was adequate overall and timely however the waiter acted annoyed with out cocktail order and overall seemd short and never smiled and showed no personality. The restaurant was crowded but they still need to hire great staff. It seems the restaurants in Fairfield County have a hard time finding waiters that really want to do the job– with a smile. This easily could have been 4 stars if we had better service.

The service was great. The atmosphere was great. This place has a nice interior but the tables are a wee bit too close and the bathrooms could do with a redo. The food wasn’t great. The margarita pizza was soggy. The pea ravioli was dense and the cream too heavy. We will come back for a drink as this is a great locals hangout.

Good pizza. Great pasta. Hearty meal on a cold night. Between the snow and sleet that came down in Westport on Saturday night, a great meal and a good bottle of red was the answer to the perfect date night. Ordered the meatballs and shishito peppers to split for apps. Then moved onto the pappardelle with pork ragu pasta and quattro formaggi pizza to share. Also ordered up a nice bottle of super tuscan red. A nice bottle for $ 70. Paired well with everything. Cute place… definitely reminiscent of Otto’s food, so I can see the Batali influence. The staff was friendly and attentive. We were about 15 – 20 minutes late for our 8pm reservation and they didn’t blink an eye. Considering the weather, the place was still buzzing… so much appreciated.
