We bought a cake for our daughter’s first birthday at Chimirri’s and had nothing short of an excellent experience. Ordering was easy, pick up a breeze, and the cake looked and (most importantly) tasted great!

Another customer suggested I get the slice peanut butter mousse cake so I got that as well as they tiramisu cake. Both were delicious! A lot of cakes sold by the slice, breads, pizza, Italian cookies to choose fr! It’s nice that it’s a family business!

I was in the immediate area to purchase seafood from City Fish and decided to stop in this pastry shop. My intention was to bring home a Hartford cream pie that had recently been featured in a Hartford magazine article, but it looked a little too large for just the 2 of us so I settled on a pair of sfogliatelle. These were fresh and crispy on the outside, but virtually devoid of any filling. We fared better with the spinach and cheese Sicilian pizza slices that served as our lunch that day. These were much lighter and more flavorful than any I have had from the Big 3 (Modern, Dibacco, Mozzicato) on Franklin Avenue. Prices seemed more than reasonable and the staff was helpful. I am already planning a next visit which will include more Sicilian pizza and a pair of filled to order cannoli.

My family orders Chimirri cakes for large parties and special occasions. We began a while back for my parents’ anniversary party and we were so satisfied that they are now our go-​to. The cakes are delicious! The staff are always very helpful during the ordering process, especially when guiding us as to how much cake we need to feed everyone. The biggest bonus is having leftover cake for breakfast the next morning :) Also, any time I need to do business at the UPS shop next door, I always stop into the bakery for some marble cookies. They are huge and hit the spot every time! We will continue to return again and again.

My husband and I had family over from Italy so we ordered a cannoli cake and some assorted italian pastries from Chimmiri’s. Everything was DELICIOUS! Our family was very impressed with how wonderful everything tasted! We have a new FAVORITE Italian pastry shop! No need to go to Franklin Avenue! Chimmiri’s is local, convenient, excellent and authentic pastry shop! Also, if you love Arancini (Sicilian rice balls) – they make the best around – the arancini are a little more expensive, but totally worth it!

The cannoli were good, but some of the other pastries tasted rather stale. Also the staff were very rude and basically ignored me to talk to one another about going to Krispy Kreme after their shift. If you work in a pastry shop and you prefer Krispy Kreme to your products (and prefer screaming back and forth to a fellow employee over addressing a customer) I’m not interested in giving you my business.
Frankly the pastry department at the grocery store is just as good and they at least can be polite.

I bought a cake from here for my birthday. I ordered a chocolate mousse cake, it was absolutely delicious. The cake was moist, rich and full of flavor. I am glad I decided to get a cake from here and I will definitely come back in the future.

I have to start with saying everything inside this bake shop is delicious! My family and I have been visiting this bakery for years now for little treats and for desserts to bring to big Italian parties as well. We have also purchased quite a few cakes over the years which have always tasted delicious but there is ALWAYS something wrong with the writing or the decoration. A cake was made for a family member for his confirmation and instead of writing «let your spirit soar» it read «let your spint soar.» I guess proofreading was too much to ask. If ordering a cake make sure you leave extra time upon pickup to allow time for refrosting of the cake!

Convenient when you are craving a little something and don’t want to deal with the south end of Hartford. If you are around for lunch during the week, give them a try. 5 bucks gets you a decent size grinder a hearty portion but I think its perfect for 2 meals. Eggplant and chicken parm are good. Can’t get bad food for 5 bucks these days so the grinders are a nice surprise. The owners and staff are also super sweet.

They did my wedding cake and everyone was talking about it! They couldn’t believe how delicious it was! :) And it was absolutely stunning also! I got married at Arias and they have a great relationship because it was smooth sailing when it came to the cake. Perfection! Thank you guys for making it wonderful! :)

The cannolis from Chimirri’s are just delicious, some of the best in the area and it’s great that they freshly fill the shells when you order them. We also ordered a birthday cake for mom from Chimirri’s and I was really impressed with the quality of the cake, the way they decorated it, the flavors, and the value based on what we paid for it. We thoroughly enjoyed the cake and I would definitely consider ordering another cake from them again in the future.

Very good alternative when I am just too darn lazy to drive to Modern, which is my fave.
Cheesecake is all too sweet for my taste… I prefer the snappy NY Style with sour cream topping. this is. It offered here. Their cheesecake is like a Willy Wonka sugar infused hallucination complete with strawberry corn syrup globules of pie filling on top. Um, yum? Not for this red blooded Eye-​Talian.
Zeppolies are delish, especially when paired with their cappuccinos served in those tiny styrofoam cups. Cookies and pastries are spot on though, and cakes are pretty good.

I was floored at how good the cheese pizza was. I hesitated because it was cold and looked like school lunch pizza. I’m glad I took the chance — a total hidden gem.

Excellent italian cookies, especially at Easter and Christmas time!
I can not comment on their cakes, but the displays are beautiful. Some of the staff are fluent in Italian (a great sign!!). When picking up my cookie sampler for Easter last year, an elderly Italian couple was in line ahead of me and they grilled some staff (an owner or manager I am guessing?) in Italian for the entire purchase. They left satisfied (not small feat) and so did I.
