I tied this place because my job is in the same plaza I must say I do not recommend it! The sushi portions they serve are small and do not taste fresh, also we ordered ahead of time and when we went to pick it up it took another 10 mins for me to receive the food. If you are going to eat in this area I recommend Edo Ichi they are delicious and have many more options on their lunch menu!

I have come here since high school days about ten years ago. It has always been my favorite spot. The Salmon Box is what I normally get here since its fresh delicious and literally no other sushi place I’ve frequented makes anything close to it. They tend to add new things to the menu every year or so. I always spend the extra couple bucks here and try the something new. This time around my wife had hibachi chicken/steam combo. It was delicious and I was able to eat rest the next day for lunch. I got a salmon box like usual, I also got the golden point roll with was cooked salmon inside topped with spicy crab salad and tabiko. And my «try something new» ended up being a crawfish roll which was yummy. We started with hoisen duck rolls and(forgot the name of it) but some sort of fried shrimp that had a spicy sauce on them. Both were delicious. Only problem I have here pretty consistently which is reason for loss of one star is that the waitresses speak pretty much no English, so when placing your order they look at you like you have five heads, and repeat something back to you that you didn’t say. It takes a few times repeating for them to say«ohh ok» and get it right. Otherwise amazing!

Good food but was surrounded by gnats. Restaurant might have a cleanliness issue. Got sick a couple years ago after eating here.

I’ve been here one other time but I couldn’t tell you what my experience was like. Today, we went with some family to celebrate my dad’s achievement of his PhD. I ordered a Diet Coke which tasted extremely flat even after they apparently changed the carbon or whatever. The Crunchy Roll was decent. The miso soup was ok. I ordered the Hibachi Chicken and I have to say that I’ve tasted much better. The taste was just off. On a positive note, the wait staff was great. I asked for no mushrooms in my veggies and the lady brought out miso soup without the mushrooms without my asking!

Since moving to the area my fiancé and I ALWAYS went to Sake when we craved sushi. The last few times we went, although the place wasn’t too busy, it seemed that service was extremely slow. The waitstaff is extremely nice and I narrowed down how well our experience would be based on which owner(?) was there for the night. They seem like husband and wife although I’ve never seen them together, one must be in the other location. When the wife is there dinner seems to run smoothly. when the husband is don’t expect anything to be right. More than once I’ve heard him insulting the waitresses or hostess. We stopped for dinner once on an exceptionally busy Thursday night. Our order stays pretty consistent so we ordered drinks and placed our dinner order right away. After sitting for a bit and getting drinks, a separate waitress came by and confirmed our order which seemed odd. Our appetizer came out. Then waited about 20 minutes while the owner ran around getting orders for takeout. Then my fiancé’s dinner came, which usually takes longer than the sushi I order. Then two of the three rolls we ordered came out, which all came on separate plates, also weird. After eating I had forgotten all about the third roll and was just ready to pay and leave. We waited 30 minutes for our check and after asking two servers all of a sudden a large plate with the three sushi rolls we ordered was placed in front of us. We had already been there 2 hours AND eatten all our food. I believe the staff put our order in twice. Then the owner who I was trying to avoid came over and couldn’t understand why we were upset. I explained it all to him, he went to get the check and slammed it on the table stating he took money off. Well they had put our order in twice. Everything we ordered was doubled. and he kept getting angrier! He came back and had taken the roll of that I did not get, but it still had all the other items doubled. It took him 3 tries before he finally listened to us and got it right. I didn’t even want money off I just wanted to pay and get out. I have not, and will not, return to this business if that man is there. He runs a horrible restaurant and he’s extremely rude to customers AND his staff.

Went here for a work lunch with 10+ coworkers and were seated immediately at the Hibachi area. The servers were friendly and quick to get us our food. We were also given some egg rolls on the house. The hibachi steak was really good, typical hibachi show. I managed to try some sushi as well and it was excellent. I could see myself coming back here.

I come here regularly. However today was my last time. The menus I ordered from all had wrong pricing. When we asked management they did nothing to accommodate us. All the pricing has gone up but the quantity is still the same. One error I ordered the sushi and sashimi combo lunch, the«updated» menu they gave me stated I would get sushi, sashimi a Godzilla roll and my choice of another roll. When I asked about this they said I only get one roll. It was clearly management’s error and again they did nothing about it. My whole family and I walked out, imagine we’ve been going here for years but sake has really went downhill. Very disappointed with the service.

Sake is a nice place in a nice area, and the food does not disappoint. The appetizers are fantastic. Try the sushi pizza, it’s one of their signature dishes, and it’s exactly as good as it sounds. They have great lunch specials. I usually get a lunch sushi combo with snow crab and some kind of tempura — it comes with an average salad and a comforting soup. Comes at a good price too. The sushi is the real highlight. I’ve had everything from the basics to the I-95 roll, and they’re all fresh and delicious. The presentation is appealing as well, even when we’re just going for lunch. The hibachi was excellent as well. Everything is flavorful and the veggies are at the intersection of crunchy and saucy, albeit a bit deflated. Sake offers a great selection of cocktails too, I’ve had a few and they always hit the spot. This is a solid sushi and hibachi restaurant on the Silas Deane, but there are better options.

(first review ever made on Unilocal, because this is the only restaurant that has repeatedly disappointed). Okay, so I used to go here quite often a couple years back and the food was wonderful as well as the service. However, I must say that has changed tremendously. I have gone about four or five times in the past 6 months or so before I made the decision of writing a review. The first couple of times, it took the waitress a good 20 minutes before even greeting us and taking our drinks(mind you it was not busy). In addition, the waitress that takes your drinks and order is not always the same waitress that brings your food(leaving plenty of room for CONFUSION). Our drinks were not refilled but one time throughout our entire dining experience. The food was decent those couple times around, so we decided to come back(thinking it may have just been a rough couple of times for them). The next few times going there were even worse. Being a vegetarian, I ordered vegetable gyoza, vegetable fried rice, and vegetable rolls. The waitress came back with BEEF gyoza, fried rice with EGG and the second vegetable roll I bit into had some strange black thing in it. I asked her to please bring back the BEEF gyoza because that was not what I had ordered. The waitress agressively responds, «You did not ask for vegetable gyoza». I responded with a dumbfounded look and insisted I did order the vegetable gyoza. My friends also backed me up saying I had clearly stated that everything must have no meat in it and specified vegetable everything and no egg in the rice! I then finally rudely received my vegetable gyoza. Okay. So if that all wasn’t enough, I returned today because my boyfriend insists on eating here because he prefers their hibachi and its convenient due to the time restraint he had before work. He ordered the chicken hibachi, I ordered a roll. I decide to take a few noodles off of his plate, because they did look tasty. As I take my second fork full of noodles, I see a short HAIR coiled around one of the noodles. I became absolutely repulsed, and made them aware that we had found a hair. They offered to make him another one, my boyfriend being less bothered by it was okay with their response. I had expected that they would at least taken that meal off of our bill(which would have been the professional route to take) but no they did not, and God only knows whether or not they even gave him a «new plate» of food! Ugh, to wrap this very long descriptive review up. I will not be stepping another foot in this restaurant and I recommend that you DONOT waste your time or money coming here, it’s truly not worth it. Very sad that Sake has gone so down hill!

I have been to this sushi bar two times now for work related meetings at around lunchtime. Place looks gorgeous thats the only good thing. fish freshness mediocre, service OK. Flavors used by sushi chefs not as good as I have had in Norwich at Mahzu, nor the quality of the fish. Waited a long time for our orders, we were there probably 45 – 60 minutes, and I did not get to finish the pepper tuna I ordered. 2nd time we went there was a middle school class on a field trip in the hibachi table area. They were extremely loud, which was very distracting. I would not go back again, because of the food quality. If I have to travel up that way again I would rather go to Vito’s Italian restaurant. For sushi I’m going to stick with Mahzu in Norwich, can’t beat the freshness or the value!

DONOTGOTOSAKE! MY friends threw me a surprise birthday party there last night and the service was awful! The food was subpar for the price and they gave my birthday cake that my friends brought to the restaurant to another party!!! The waitress said they gave it away by accident and the manager told us that the waitress dropped it on the floor! The manager continued to lie to our faces and began screaming and threatening to call the police on us when we were just trying to reason with him. He was belittling his waitstaff and throwing things around the bar and I felt VERY threatened. I will NEVER go to Sake again and I recommend you don’t either.
