With so many options in the area, I had a challenge choosing a spot for a late lunch before heading back to Manhattan. Sat at the bar and had probable the best presented Sashimi platter I’ve ever had. It was delicious and served at perfect temperature. Big Thank You to Rainie. She made sure to accommodate my every request and made me feel very welcomed. Would love to come back and feast on without worrying about food comma before a long drive.

Sakura establishes itself at the top of my most horrible restaurants in Glastonbury list. Ordered a meal for three people which included three items off of the happy hour menu, several sushi items from the regular menu, and 2 drinks. Attempted to use a CouponConnecticut.Com coupon and was told that cannot be combined with other offers. Because I had ordered from the menu and not used any other offer I objected and the smug and cocky manager said«too bad.» Would not recommend this restaurant to anybody for this lack of courtesy. My wife did not even eat her dinner, finding it inedible and foul tasting. The waiter/bartender cleared it away without asking. Min Ghung has better sushi. Hibachi is only average. Really no reason to eat here. I give this place my lowest rating of any restaurant since moving to Glastonbury.

Stopped by yesterday to grab some take out. Friendly staff, prompt service. The sushi was delicious. The Autumn of Alaska roll and Tuna Tartar was amazing!

Absolutely amazing! Gerald one of the servers, was absolutely amazing, even on Valentine day night he was extremely attentive, truly made us feel like we were the only people here in a packed house! I honestly have not a single complaint about this WONDERFUL establishment! Also just so you know the food was amazing coming from NY, this is the best Japanese food I’ve ever had period!

Went there for the first time last night. The restaurant is beautiful but that’s the only positive thing I can say. They had our reservation wrong so we waited for about 30 minutes. After we were finally seated it was about another 45 minutes before a chef came over to the table. Two members of our party of 6 ordered brown rice instead fried rice which after asking about it several times, they were served at the end of their meal. Drinks were forgotten. We had a groupon which they would not honor for all 3 couples. If so many things had not gone wrong, we wouldn’t have pushed it, but Sakura should gave done something to try to improve their service and our experience but they did not. After speaking with the manager & then the owner, we got no where. So we gave our groupon to two young girls at our table. This way at least someone used it. We will never go back

Sakura is a superb sushi session experience! It’s hard to decide what to get when I’m here so I’m just going roll through my typical succession of events. I start by ordering a piping hot large sake, followed by a Sapporo, the two just go together like a wink and a smile, Tina Fey and Sarah Palin, peanut butter and jelly, red on a rose, macaroni and cheese, chips and dip. I also accompany the two with an appetizer of edamame that I do not share with whomever I am with. This is where it gets difficult, for dinner it’s a toss up of epic proportions between the Two Way Duck, or the Big Mac sushi roll, I simply can never decide. The Two Way Duck sports some specialty dough rolls that are mana from heaven and greens and you have the option to eat the duck like you normally would by itself, or go ahead and make yourself a little sandwich why dontcha! That decision always scrambles my noodle as well. I will mention Sakura’s dive dodge duck dish is my second favorite duck delight in all of CT so far and the Big Mac just can’t be eaten with chopsticks alone. If not too busy I like to sit at the bar as they have televisions at an almost 360 area of viewing mostly playing sports and news for your dining entertainment. They also have a basic sit down dining room and hibachi, all experiences equal. The bar tenders are always attentive and friendly and constantly checking to see if everything is going well, I recommend Sakura to anyone in the mood for sushi or otherwise. My one issue is that cellphone service is horrid, and I’m not sure they offer WiFi? I will update accordingly once I find out.

It’s time to rewrite this review since I’ve experienced an improvement in the quality of food. I’ve been here dozens of times since my last review and I have to say the consistency have greatly improved. I’ve mainly dine bar side so I can’t speak for the quality of service dining room side. I’ve eaten by the hibachi and it’s as entertaining as it’s always been. I truly enjoy the pork gyoza, the m16 roll with spicy salmon, Spicy tuna, yellowtail, cream cheese, spicy mayo and eel sauce. It’s my favorite meal before heading up to rooftop to meet friends. It’s very convenient that sakura isn’t just a seafood restaurant. The fact that it can accommodate my meat lover friends as well is a huge plus. You have chicken, steak and pad Thai so it’s ultimately fail proof with everyone I know. You can’t go wrong dining here with a variety of friends with all different diets and for that reason I always recommend Sakura. My only suggestion is a better liquor and wine list that flows with the trends and seasons. Be innovative. The basics however are all there popular wines list and all your basic liquor is present. For an Asian fusion I’d love to see a fearless drink list past just a basic sake list.

The sashimi was a little disappointing last nite. Cold and slices were cut too thick. Spicy tuna tartar was good as was the service. But I would prefer to wait a while for good sushi than have quick service with sushi that has been precut and chilled on hold. It was not my first time. Sakura in Glastonbury is one of my favorite places to go. Love the atmosphere and the food and service. Of course I will be back. Thank you for responding

One of the better sushi options in the area… OK…I’m not a huge sushi fan, but I really liked the three rolls we had. Everything seemed fresh, and it seems generally better than the other sushi places I’ve tried in the area, as the little lady suggested it to be. The house saki was also quite good. Parking is a challenge at times, but managable. Probably would be easier if I was willing to park in the underground garage… but if you’re patient you can find one above ground.

Great food! My favorites are edamame to start followed by spicy kani salad. For rolls the autumn of Alaska roll is a must try and the white tuna sashimi is delicious that comes in a great portion of 3 pieces per order.

Oh Sakura Garden Glastonbury, how I love your happy hour! What do you want? Miso soup? Maybe some edamame? Sushi? Cheap drinks? Well, good. You’re in the right place at Sakura’s happy hour. Park your work-weary behind at the gorgeously lit up bar, and fill that belly with amazing sushi and booze. Their drink menu includes several beers, wines, and cocktails, ranging from $ 4-$ 7 dollars or so. Soups, salads, apps, and traditional rolls are all $ 4 or less. I mean, you can’t go wrong. I had the sweet potato roll and the avocado cucumber roll, and both were absolutely fantastic. It’s always exciting to find delicious vegetarian options on happy hour menus. Our bartender was sweet and not invasive, but also extremely attentive. Pretty much everything you want your bartender to be, always. I literally cannot wait to get back here soon for another amazing happy hour!

** 3.5 stars ** A huge restaurant and a huge plastic menu await you in this somewhat Asian fusion experience. Monday, the restaurant was pretty empty. Our waitress, Lek, was very nice and attentive. We each got a beer($ 6), though their cocktail menu was absolutely huge and tempting. To eat, we got the beef negimaki, which was scrumptious, as well as 3 rolls — salmon and avo, coconut shrimp, and tempura sweet potato. Prices of rolls range from $ 5 for traditional to $ 14+. Each was very good. There are some non-Japanese items on the menu, like pad thai. There are definitely a decent number of steak and more traditional main entrée options, as well.(We heard the waiters and waitresses speak Chinese. Huh!) Overall, a very solid experience. I will definitely come back and try the hibachi grill!

Every time I’ve been to Sakura I’ve had a great meal. The place is tucked away in a strip of restaurants and offices and is very beautiful on the inside. Usually when I come here I get the two-ways duck, which is my favorite thing on the menu and an appetizer of edamame and pot stickers. Both really delicious. This time around I went with the family before Christmas, and we decided to do the hibachi, and it was very entertaining. Everyone loved it and loved their meals as well. I ended up ordering the soft shell crab and a spicy tuna roll for an appetizer. I hadn’t had the crab before, and it was crazy good, and I also really love their sushi. They stuff a lot of meat in there, so you actually can get a good taste of it. For the main course, I went with the sirloin. The hibachi cook was very funny and talented, and I give him props for making everyone at the table crack up. He also cooked my steak and vegetables perfectly. For the show and amount of food, the hibachi is a pretty good deal. I usually come here whenever I’m in town and never disappointed, so you can bet I’ll be back on my next trip.

Probably the best sushi in town, but there are some things working against it. If you’re like me, you often order sushi via takeout as opposed to dining in. Well, that’s a surprisingly huge obstacle at this Sakura! Being in Eric Town Square, there’s simply no place to park. Every time I pick up an order, I feel like it’s a ¼ mile walk. That said, the few times we’ve dined in have been pleasant. The hibachi chefs are entertaining, and the atmosphere is relaxing. In brief summary: Check it out if you’re dining in. Think twice if you’re getting takeout.
