Great restaurant, can’t beat the food, serving size or price. not to mention the waitstaff! Try the soups, they are the best!

My wife and I visited Jimmy’s for the first time today. We both had breakfast food(they serve breakfast all day, which I love). I had blueberry pancakes and my wife had the Santorini poached eggs. My pancakes were good, but nothing special. My wife loved her meal. I’m a diner fan so I’ll definitely be back. The place was clean, the service was friendly, and I saw many interesting things on the menu I’d love to try.

I had to knock a star off because of the horrible service we had tonight. My boyfriend and I have gone here many times when we want an easy casual meal and typically have a pleasant experience. Tonight, however, we had the rudest miserable woman(Lynn) wait on us! Her attitude put a damper on our dinner. We didn’t finish our meals and took dessert to go instead of staying there any longer. We will go back in the future but if she is ever our waitress again we will leave and go elsewhere.

Let me start by saying the only reason I’m giving two stars is for the food. That’s it. My family went there on Veterans Day, full house. The waitress we had was absolutely terrible. She had a piss poor attitude and she should definitely rethink her career path if she thinks serving is for her. I was a waitress. I know it sucks when it’s busy. But when you are at a table, that table should have your full attention, and they shouldn’t be rushing you to order, especially if they’re going to forget items that you ordered while they were rushing you. The biggest issue I had was a cleanliness issue. My father ordered a coffee, which he received with the dirty creamer dish sitting on top of it. It had other tables trash in it, and the fact that it was sitting on the rim of the coffee that he now had to drink from was disgusting. When she served our food, his side of bacon was literally sitting on top of my food, squishing my home fries and my toast, not to mention again that’s a cleanliness issue. I don’t know where that plate has been and I don’t want it on my food. Simple as that. We finished, the food was good, and we went to pay. Asking her for the bill seemed to bother her, and when she never came back for the credit card, my father walked up to the bar to pay there as we were in a rush, I had to get to work. She told him to leave his card on the counter and she would come back… I’m sorry what! That’s his debit card he’s not just going to leave it on the bar of a packed restaurant and walk away. He told her that and she ripped the card out of his hands and said«I do have to wait on others you know». She finally came back, we gave her 20% and we left. As we were walking out the door, she sneered«have a… Nice day». I didn’t say anything back. I just wanted to leave. Overall, good food, but if you get the short Italian looking waitress with a caramel colored stacked bob, go elsewhere.

One of the best breakfast places I have ever eaten. The servers are excellent, very fast and courteous. Come here often and am never disappointed. The prices are reasonable and you get very large portions. Weekends can be busy, but hardly ever more than five minute wait or so, but well worth the wait. A+

It always looks clean and the service is basically decent, normal diner service. I’ve had one decent/nice lunch here(standard hamburgers and fries, nothing amazing but fairly good) and one really horrible breakfast. Now, my grandparents used to take me to diners all the time and I like diner breakfasts. But this breakfast had no taste and was absolutely swimming in oil. I will never believe that the potato pancakes I had weren’t machine-extruded and premade. They were like bigger versions of the hash browns that McDonalds gives you with breakfast, except the McDonalds ones taste way nicer and are way less greasy(yes, really). The sausage likewise had no taste at all and was oozing oil. I ate maybe ¼ of my meal and then went home and ate my own food because I was still hungry and my stomach was churning from all the pure oil. Also, $ 2 for a small mug of coffee is kind of a lot, isn’t it? One weird thing: I ordered eggs over medium, which to me means that the yolks are semi-solid with a liquid-y part in the middle. I got eggs with a yolk that was totally liquid, which I really hate. I said this to the waitress and she said that I ordered wrong then, because«over medium» means yolks that are totally liquid and«over easy» means that the yolk and the white are liquid. I said okay, my mistake. But like I said, I’ve been to like 50 million diners so I was like, am I crazy? I googled it and a couple of sources said«over medium» is what the waitress said, but most(including wikipedia and the huffington post) said what I said: «the yolk is cooked through but soft and near liquid at the center»(Wikipedia). Maybe it’s a regional thing where the definition varies? Also, the person I came with started to feel sick from the heaviness and over-sweet vanilla flavor of her pancakes. I won’t be coming back to Jimmy’s again. I recommend the Hearth and Kettle down the road instead of this diner.

Jimmy’s is an acceptable diner that has a mixed bag when it comes to the menu. I’ve been here a couple of times and both occasions I’ve gone for Greek food. The spanikopita was quite good, with a flaky crust and savory spinach and feta inside. However, the roast lamb was rather dry and tasteless, which was a major disappointment. The vegetables along side were just as lacking in personality. Service was friendly and will engage in banter with you if you’d like. I’m not terribly fond of the décor. It kinda reminds me too much of The Peach Pit, in a bad way. Yes, I have just aged myself.

Jimmy’s promises to be a place we visit often given that we love diners, my husband’s parents love diners, it’s very close to our house and it’s dirt cheap. Our first visit was at 8:30AM on a Saturday morning. It was already packed(with mostly old-timers but a smattering of families as well) but we were quickly seated in a booth by the front windows. A friendly waitress was with us within seconds asking us what we wanted to drink. Of course, I grabbed a coffee(which was pretty good and also bottomless, as all coffee should be). I ordered the Corned Beef Hash Special and my husband ordered a ham and cheese omelette. In hindsight, I wish I had ordered one of the sweeter items(French Toast or Pancakes) because I was eyeing the plate of the 3-year-old sitting in the booth across from me enviously. She was eating her pancake with abandon… hands and face covered in powdered sugar and maple syrup. Lucky! The meal came out quickly and very hot. The toast was awesome, the hash browns are awesome, and the potatoes are awesome. I just don’t feel like coming up with another adjective, so deal with awesome. The corned beef hash was different. I’m used to potatoes and onions, but this hash had peppers and mushrooms as well. It was a bit crumbly as a result of the additional veggies and didn’t have the crisp edges that I look forward to so much. It was served casserole style, with the eggs(over easy) on top, with two slices of American cheese melted over the top. It wasn’t bad by any stretch… it was actually really tasty, but since I had assumed something different, it wasn’t exactly what I had hoped for. I’ve also never had cheese on over-easy eggs before so that was also different. Again, not bad at all, just different. I heard no complaints about my husband’s omelette. He seemed pretty happy with it. The portion sizes are huge. Our breakfast bill came to $ 19 and change. I’m excited to come back and try more stuff off the menu. They serve lunch and dinner as well and I’m sure that coming back and trying something else will result in additional stars for Jimmy’s!

We had a very bad experience there last week. We both got the prime rib and it was so tough that you could not eat it. That was not the problem though it was the very rude reaction from the waitress who not only lied about the owner not being there but was down right nasty. I have written this of my dinning list.

Sometimes you’re just looking for a place that brings you to another time with both atmosphere, food, and service, and this was most definitely it. I had just gotten out of the bustle of Boston and really appreciated the contrast between the polished city ambiance and the retro diner feel. The food was great — I was a bit disappointed that the fruits on the French toast were clearly frozen and not fresh but for the price it was fairly reasonable. The Eggs Benedict were delicious and the Hollandaise was powerful enough to complement the eggs and vegetables while not being overpowered by the ham. I personally prefer a Hollandaise with more lemon/vinegar in it but this one, despite not being particularly sour, didn’t leave me yearning. By the end of the meal, we were so drawn into the atmosphere that we thought to ask whether they took credit because we assumed it would be a cash only place.(They did take credit, after all!) Would definitely return if I were going nearby.

This place had a great breakfast. If your familiar with new england diners, then you’ll love this place. We came when it was busy and we had 6 people in our table. Everything came with out any issues and pretty much at the same time. The food tasted great and you must try the extra crispy bacon. I’ll be back for allot more.

Didn’t know this place existed until my the girls and I needed to find a Sunday brunch place on the quick. Thanks for the help, Unilocal. It’s exactly what you’d expect from a diner: fast, friendly service, breakfast lunch and dinner options available all day, reasonable prices. The décor is clean and classic and I would certainly return again.

I eat here often and really enjoy it. Standard breakfast foods, with the occasional special that gets my attention. Staff is usually attentive(one or two times, it’s been less than perfect, but it’s usually great service). I’ve occasionally been for dinner, too, and that doesn’t disappoint. Usually comfort style meals with large portions. The parking lot gets full during peak breakfast hours, but even then there’s usually not a long wait, so don’t let that stop you from turning in.

Admittedly, I had a horrible first experience here, but they’ve made me into a Broad Street believer. My wife and I have enjoyed the food and the service. Try to grilled bagel or potato pancake. You’ll love it!
