I was visiting Wheeling from Portland, OR(land of a thousand pizza joints) and funny, I wanted pizza. I wrote this place off at first based on the concept of the cheese being put on post baking but at the last minute, decided to try it out. I was with two other people and we LOVED our pizza. The crust was crisp until the last bite and the sauce amazing. I am honestly a bit sad we don’t have this style out in Portland. I’m glad I tried it out. I do wish they had recycling bins, however, for all of their bottled soda. Meh. Life goes on. Solid pizza at an amazing price.

I grew up eating DiCarlos pizza when I was in Wheeling, normally the one on Elm Grove. This location lacks some of that crazy chaos of a packed lobby, waiting for your number to be called, and stealing someone’s number if they don’t show up immediately. This location has seating inside the restaurant(unlike Elm Grove), toppings other than just pepperoni, and menu items in addition to pizza: sandwiches and pepperoni rolls. DiCarlos pizza is delicious. They have their crispy crust and tomatoey sauce that is cooked and then the cheese and pepperoni(2 slices) is added once it is cooked so it does not melt. I personally cannot eat cheese, but it is still delicious without the cheese! DiCarlos pizza is a must every time I visit Wheeling!

No waiters or menu posted but really really good pizza and breadsticks. I will be coming back. The large pizza is huge!

This pizza is our family’s all time favorite for what is now going on three generations. We usually get one tray there and then a half-baked(with extra sauce) tray to take on the 1.5 hr drive home. By the time we get home we’re ready for the next pie. Absolutely love it. My dad prefers the Weirton location :), but we love downtown Wheeling. The new shop is great with ample parking. It’s almost a blessing we don’t live closer as it would greatly impact our waistlines!

There aren’t many options for a decent meal in this town. Admittedly, I’m not from this area, and I walked in looking for some pizza. For some reason, they don’t melt the cheese. So, you get a luke warm pizza with cold cheese on top. The crust and sauce is good, but the overall pizza sucks. I so badly wanted to ask them to throw it in the oven because that would probably make it great. You may like it, but just know what you’re getting.

Food-had the pizza of course and was a little concerned because was not used to small square slices but the dough was so crisp and the pizza was so good that it completely won me over. Décor– it’s a pizza place so grab a seat and have a slice. Service-very good and more polite than I expected.

This is the best DiCarlos location in the valley. Clean, friendly staff, fast, orders are always accurate, and delicious pizza.

Yummy pizza if you like steubenville style, with chrispy crust but cheese unmelted. Steak sandwich in flatbread was great. Safe atmosphere in a late friday.

Let me start off with saying that I am a pizza aficionado. I was raised on it and have continued eating it throughout my life, but so has everyone else. I was almost swayed away from DiCarlos by the negative reviews on Unilocal, but at the last second I thought what the hell and ordered it. I’m glad I did! This pizza is quite simply awesome! The sauce has excellent flavor as does the cheese and pepperoni. I love the crunchy crust too. If I’m ever back in this hell hole called Wheeling, I will definitely return to DiCarlos.

The pizza here isn’t very good. It tastes frozen, which is amazing since I’m pretty sure it’s made fresh in the restaurant. The crust tastes like cardboard and the ingredients taste cheap. I can’t say much else other than I’m more satisfied by mid grade frozen pizzas from the grocery store.

We just got pizza here about an hour ago. We have heard so many good things about DiCarlo’s since we moved here and since the Valley has a plethora of really good local pizza, while we hadn’t tried DiCarlo’s, we have been told it was the best of the best. What an utter disappointment! I am now in line at the fireworks to get something else to feed my family. The pizza was terrible and overpriced and not cooked all the way through. We got it to go to have a picnic on the river and the service was still horrible. And the management looking person, who I think knew we weren’t impressed before we even got our pizza, tried to smooth things over. She explained to my boyfriend that he was waiting in line for a key to the bathroom because people shoot heroin in there and it was for his own safety!!! What kind of place is this? We will never be back. What a disappointment and waste of money. And now I’m standing at a food truck spending more money so we can actually eat.

DiCarlo’s Pizza is located in downtown Wheeling, WV. There’s not much else around so I stumbled onto this place after walking a few blocks looking for lunch. I ordered an italian sub. It was very good. The man who took my order was nice and made a couple suggestions to me. I waited a while for the sub but I believe they made it fresh to order and it was baked(which I love) so I am OK with that. The day I visited there were a lot of empty tables but then again there wasn’t much action in downtown.

We love the pizza here. Not everybody does. Di Carlo’s is a totally different pizza than anywhere else that I have been. Some people seem to like the National Road location better. I think they are both great. This Di Carlo’s has indoor seating which is a plus. This is a great place to people watch during lunch or dinner while waiting for your slices to be prepared. This location also has bottled beer. The pieces have crunchy crust with a great tomato sauce. They then put cheese on it and let it melt on the slice. This is a unique experience to eat a hot pizza slice with cold cheese on top. Real flavorful. You will either love it or you will hate it. Judging from the line for this pizza, a lot of people love it!

Thanks for joining us our first Taste of West Virginia event in Washington D.C., and especially for bringing your famous square pizza. I always enjoy it while traveling in the Northern Panhandle. Hope you join us again next year!

The pizza here is like the kind you make at home – it has that not fully melted, put together without much thought, feel and taste. It is square, as is often the custom in these parts. The steak sub, on a flat bread, was uninspiring. There was also a lot of cursing /yelling coming from the kitchen-counter area. I’m no stranger to hearing F bombs, but it was a little over the top.

Came here late and grabbed a large, 16 slice pie for 15 bucks and with 4 beers brought our total to $ 24. Great deal. Square pizza, average taste. The price and speed of cooking made up for the pizza’s frozen food taste. It was a great meal after a evening at the bar, but I probably wouldn’t order it for lunch. I do like how they cook the pie, then put the cheese and pepperoni on it, allowing it to melt in the box. Though this method only helps it look more like frozen food. I’d stop by again after a few beers, but probably not otherwise.

I am madly in love with DiCarlo’s pizza. I usually get my DiCarlo’s at this location because I don’t live anywhere near Wheeling, so take-out isn’t really a possibility. This location has tables and I’ve never had to wait more than 20 minutes for a large pizza. I’ve never had pizza anywhere else that is quite like DiCarlo’s and I have, on more than one occasion, driven over 90 minutes each way just to get a fix. I also love this location because it’s right downtown. You can people watch and just take in the ambiance of downtown Wheeling. While many may consider that a negative point, I enjoy it. There is also dedicated parking next to the location, so unless they’re super busy it’s usually not a challenge to find a spot.

This is the shiny new location for the downtown Wheeling store, now featuring a video poker parlor too! We’re fans of DiCarlo’s, but we prefer the other locations instead of National Road. Seriously: why settle for a choice of pep/no-pep and a 45 minute wait with NO tables, when you can get multiple toppings, signature pizzas, and calzones plus table service? And since it’s in downtown Wheeling, there’s lots and lots of parking(courtesy of the city’s policy of tearing down buildings and replacing them with parking lots). Same great sauce, same great crust.
