Everything was good — the environment, the service, the beer and especially the food. The best fish tacos I’ve had anywhere around here, including Pittsburgh. So good, I had to order a second round. The Stout was excellent and the IPA was a sound IPA. The wheat beer — not for me, but I’m not a wheat beer fan. I highly recommend for the food and the atmosphere — even if you are not a beer lover.

We stopped in while in town overnight. Found it on Unilocal.Luckily we had the address because from the street you don’t really know it is there. We drove by once and missed it. Found it when we came back around the block. Atmosphere was great. Displaying local artist photography which was exceptional. The light fixtures were very cool unfortunately the were«plugged in» to a track lighting system which brought the feel of the space down a bit. Tables were rustic and unique. Everything was very clean. We both got the wheat beer which was a little hoppy for my liking. Didn’t seem very wheat like. It was fairly late so we only had one. Would be interested in trying others. Also kitchen was already closed so we didn’t get to try the food but the fact that most of the food was locally sourced is appealing. I would definitely go back again.

GLUTENFREEBEERONTAP! Gluten free beer on tap! Need I say more. My wife had her first draft beer in 8 years since her celiac diagnosis.

Awesome beer and awesome perogies! The Caesar salad was even one of the best I’ve ever had. Service was kinda slow but it seemed pretty busy for a Monday. I’ll be back soon

Take a road trip to the only brewery in the WV panhandle! This place has good beers, but outstanding food. It’s in a little market district and uses ingredients from there as well. They take great ingredients and turn them into fabulous dishes. We had the pierogies in mix of sautéed veggies and cheese… I’m not a pierogi fan but they were incredible. We also had the Greek Olive Tapenade, against the advice of a previous Unilocaler, it was much better than previously reviewed. They either changed the recipe or that Unilocaler doesn’t understand good food. We also split Reuben sliders… think a great Reuben on smaller rye bread… awesome! I judge a place that serves food on their Reuben’s…this place passes muster! How did I forget the brat?!? With all the trimmings and beer cheese sauce! SHUTUPANDTAKEMYMONEY! It was like off my grill, with spicy horseradish mustard… fagetaboutit! I do have to say that the IPA was not as hop forward as I like, but taste the 60 ibu it was advertised, but no more. It was also a bit watery to be sure. It’s a good example, just not as“west coast” as I like. Like I said before… take a road trip to the panhandle!

Went for drinks and dinner on a week night. They make good beer. Cost is $ 6 per beer. Bartender was very knowledgeable about their beer and food. As an appetizer we had the tapenade. It was a disappointment because it was basically flavorless. How that is possible with black olives as an ingredient, I don’t know, but I wonder if they use those awful black olives from a can rather than Kalamatas. The pierogis were delicious as was the brat. They buy their bread from a local baker and it’s the best I’ve had in ages. Their German potato salad was a bit on the sweet and runny side, but somewhat reminiscent of potato salad I’ve eaten in Bavaria.

I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to Wheeling Brewing Company. The atmosphere and service were fantastic. I tried a flight of beer. Two were okay, one not great and one really good. Their food was the shining star. Everything is local. A diner I was with commented that the meatball sandwich was the best he’d ever eaten. The ice cream made with the beer was also really tasty. Be prepared to pay more than you might expect. I didn’t mind because of everything being local. Also, it’s a small place, so I’d recommend going when you wouldn’t expect a crowd.

Stop in on our cross country trip. Nice place but the acoustics are terrible. A group of about 6 – 7 people who I think we’re all local basically took over the bar and we’re very loud. Beers and food were okay.

Great place for high quality local beer. And light food is also good quality. Great Service and welcoming place on my first visit on a business trip to the area. I will certainly be back so locals go and support this good business!

I stopped by here this past Saturday afternoon with my wife. We were heading over to the Wheeling Downs for the evening races and wanted a place to hang out at beforehand. My wife knows my love of craft breweries and thankfully found this place for me. The day that we stopped by there ended up being the centre market wing festival which is where Wheeling Brewing is located. So I am not sure if that had anything to do with it but whenever we entered the restaurant at shortly after 2PM every seat at the bar was taken and there was only one table left. We sat at the table and a couple of minutes later were waited on by one of the bartenders. The inside of this restaurant had quite the rustic feel to it with lots of exposed wood and brick. My favorite part of the décor may have been the white christmas lights inside of the fireplace that gave it a glow like it was actually on. My wife and I each decided to get our own flights while we were here and she went with a flight of their beers. I was thinking the same and whenever I ordered it the waitress asked if I would like a change to it. She told me that if I was an IPA drinker they could change out the light beer for an IPA which I quickly agreed with. A short time later and both of the flights were in front of us. Out of the four beers that I had I was only really a big fan of their IPA and thought that their stout was good as well. The other two were just ok and I was really disappointed by the IPA that I had subbed out a beer for. Maybe it was an English IPA but I couldn’t taste any of the hops in it which was a huge contrast to their own IPA which was really hoppy with some nice citrus flavors. The bottom line for me is that I would stop by here again in the future. While I wasn’t blown away by any of the beers here I thought that it was a pretty cool place and I would like to try the food.

Yesterday, 17 April 2015 we went to the«Hoppy Hour Thursday» we were given info about it on a previous visit to the Wheeling Brewing Company. It did not go well. When we arrived it was 4:40 and we were told we could not get Hoppy Hour prices($ 4 a pint for house beers) until 5:00. So we had to wait. To his credit the bar tender set us up with a «taste»(sample) until the clock struck 5:00 We asked the bartender about the«appetizer specials» which had been promoted for Hoppy Hour. He did not know what they were or if the the«special» meant a special price of a special type of appetizer. He said he would check with the chef. But, he got distracted because the credit card system broke down and both staff members were trying to get it fixed so customers could close out. In the mean time everyone was waiting including us. We finally caught the bartenders attention and asked for a side of potato chips to hold us over until out appetizer questions could be answered. For $ 2.00 we expected a basket of chips. What we got was the equivalent of a coffee mug full. Stingy! Finally the bartender got us the«appetizer specials» info for us. The«special» had nothing to do with the price only they type of appetizer. Today’s «special»? Shrimp cocktail. Not very special in my book. We decided this«appetizer special» was to ordinary to order as it could be had anywhere. We were glad we made that decision when we saw what the«appetizer special» looked like. It was 6 small shrimp with cocktail sauce. The price? $ 9.00. For SIX shrimp!!! What a rip off. By the time we were ready to leave the credit card problems still had not been resolved. Luckily we had the cash. To their credit the chips were on the house. We will not be back for Hoppy Hour until they figure out what they are doing. We wish them luck as Wheeling needs a place like this. BTW — the beer there is good. Not outstanding, but good. Give it a try.

If you haven’t been here, you’re missing out. High top wooden plank tables fill this cozy rustic brewery that is fearlessly led by its brewmaster, Josh. First thing you’ll notice when you sit down: everything is local. The ingredients for their mouth-watering and robust menu are from nearby bakeries and markets. The décor is from their next door neighbor. And their beer — oh, their phenomenal beer — is all from here. With several palette pleasing house-made ales/lagers and two guest taps(yes, also from WV), this place is a haven for those tired of corporate chains. Beers are available in flights, pints, and pitchers, as well as to-go growlers. MUSTHAVE: The award winning Panhandle Pale Ale — it’s the best in the Midwest.

Simply fantastic. Great beer, great food, great atmosphere and the staff is wonderful. A terrific place to have a cozy drink and bite. I had the beer infused seafood and it was killer.

This is a great addition to Centre Market, Wheeling. I stopped in on a Saturday night with my brother. Atmosphere is great, service was great., beer was great. I had a «flight» which was 4 beers(6oz glasses each, I believe) served on a wooden paddle. Allows you to try several beers and find what you like. The food menu is small since they are still getting things worked out, but what they did have was NOT standard bar fare, so that is great. I’d like to see some more decorations and more seating, but it is a little cramped in there is. I will be back, for sure. Hoping more places like this start showing up around Wheeling.

Loved our experience! My husband is a porter efficianado and was very pleased. The bar keep was friendly, we got to meet the brewer and they have a couple of games that added to our experience as out of towners who didn’t have friends at the bar. They close early, great for right after dinner.

LOVED my first trip to Wheeling Brewing Company(located in historic Centre Market.) I’m still having a hard time believing a place this cool is in Wheeling. First off, the raison d’être — the beer! Everything is brewed on site, and they currently feature five house-made beers and two guest taps(also West Virginia brews). All of the names are a nod to local history and culture. I thoroughly enjoyed a McColloch’s wheat(see the legend of McCulloch’s leap: ), but wish I might have considered a Nail City Porter-a nod to Nail City Brewery, Wheeling’s first(and somewhat short lived) attempt at a microbrewery in the early nineties. I stole a drink of my brother’s, and it was a wonderful dry porter — roast-y toast-y, like a good cup of coffee. For the non-drinkers, they have house-made craft sodas as well. They also feature a small food menu, although we didn’t give it a try on our first visit. Classic German pub fare — sausage, potato salad, charcuterie — and fish sandwiches from the world(or Wheeling at least) famous Coleman’s Fish Market across the street. Everything is as locally sourced as possible. We had the opportunity to chat with one of the co-owners, and were beyond impressed. These are people who are passionate about their beer, passionate about local food, and passionate about Wheeling. The building features exposed brick walls and wonderful local photography. Even the tables were custom, using reclaimed wood from the building’s basement. If you’re driving through Wheeling, don’t miss this place! If you live in Wheeling, what’s your excuse? We’ll be back, frequently and enthusiastically!
