My friend adores this place, mostly because of the atmosphere. The space is intimate and comfortable, with soft Mexican music playing in the background. There is a strolling guitarist going from table to table on some evenings(I personally hate this but she likes it so…). The food is pretty good but overpriced. the chips that were served with salsa were extremely stale. Service is friendly and professional. I much prefer the food at Lola’s, a short walk away. However, some may appreciate the low key charm of Azteca.

It’s not bad, but the rice was terrible(think the crunchy, uncooked variety), and the food was just ok. The frozen margarita I had was great and was a nice size, so I might tell you to come for drinks/appetizers only, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to come back. Just average.

Horrible! Food was all salt, couldn’t even taste anything so it’s hard to write a review. Had to throw the food out because it was like eating a pile of salt.

Slow service, average food that is bland, and way overpriced. I’ve eaten here a few times and just won’t go back anymore. I’d recommend the new place El Poblano on Central Ave instead… much much better food.

I’m familiarizing myself with the White Plains area, as of lately, so I decided to meet up with some girl friends for dinner at Hacienda Azteca. Nothing really stood out from this visit in a positive way. The service was incredibly slow despite the fact that our table of 3 was the only one occupied in the entire restaurant. I felt like our waiter was trying to get us to order more than we wanted. Also, the guac was okay, but not the best, along with the tacos al pastor I ordered. It was an okay dining experience, but not really anything to rave about. Would I go back? Probably not.

The atmosphere is a bit formal and very pleasant. Staff are a handsome lot and they are attentive. The food is very good as I had anticipated since the area is populated by Hispanics. I am not from the area and cannot judge the price, but it seemed a bit pricey for my neck of the woods. It didn’t surprise me, however, given the location. The neighborhood is human scaled and interesting to walk. The tree-lined streets very enjoyable.

Had to write a review because the rating is incomprehensibly low. The quality of the food is very good. I had the suizas — great and my wife had the fish tacos also very good. Started with the tableside guac — tasty. Complement it with some tecates and red sangria — it was a great meal

Nothing like eating stale chips for 45 minutes with no soda refills only to get a mediocre cold meal that’s way overpriced. It wasn’t even that busy on Cinco de Mayo. I give it thumbs down.

I went there for lunch today for Cinco de Mayo. I was a little upset with the fact that they took away their normal lunch menu, only had dinner menus(too up the price on customers for the holiday.) I think that is not right at all. They were extremely stingy with the guacamole and salsa. They also advertised a free tequila shot with your order but didn’t offer that when you were there. I have been there before and the kitchen is extremely slow, so if you go there, make sure you have plenty of time. The music was extremely loud so you can’t carry a conversation… but it is a live guy singing which adds to the ambiance. Overall, I spent over $ 20 on really flimsy chicken quesedillas with no sour cream, or guacamole and a water. Definitely, have had better… and very close to this restaurant.

I LOVE this place. This is where I go with my friends and family — the margaritas are great — I really love the tacos — and we ALWAYS have a blast here. Last time we went the staff let my kids try on the different sombreros they had ! lol The waiters are always very very nice to us — and very attentive ! The homemade guac is sooo good — and the fried ice cream too! I love this place !!

Made a reservation for a large group(20), took 75 minutes for us to finally get our food. Drinks never refilled and poor communication from the staff. Food was cold when served as well.

First time here. I’ve been meaning to check this place out for probably 5 years now. Finally got around to trying it and I must say they’re pretty good. I grabbed the enchiladas suizas to go for lunch and it was good, at least as good as I’ve had anywhere else. Though I must admit, the primary motivator was that this place is in the American Airlines AAdvantage Dining Network, and I’m working on racking up some miles and getting VIP status. In any event, this place seems nice enough, and I liked what I tried, so I’ll definitely be back when I have time to dine in and get a real look at the menu. A-OK.

Hola for GNO at Café Azteca Perfect choice for GNO with a straight up pitcher of Perfect Magaritas to start off the evening. Your choice of tequila from the list. Chips and Salsa arrive to enjoy while you wait for dinner. We had three different entrees and each was festively plated, flavorful and plentiful whether it was the Mole Poblano, stuffed hot peppers or the special fish combination wtih shrimp, scallops and avacado in soft tacos. For«dessert» we ordered the Especial De La Casa coffee and liquir. The wait staff was attentive and eager to please. You can’t go qwrong here.

I have heard a lot of good things about Hacienda Azteca from friends in the White Plains area. My girlfriend and I decided to check it out since we were in the mood for Mexican food. I enjoyed the fact that the staff was very polite and attentive. From the moment we walked through the door they made sure that we were taken care of. The interior of Hacienda Azteca had an authentic Mexican feel to it which gave it a festive feel. They offered a dinner special which included an appetizer, entrée, and desert for a fixed price of $ 23. I decided to go with the tortilla soup for my appetizer which was delicious. For my entrée, I chose the Enchiladas Suizas. It was fantastic. Finally, I went with the Doraditas Aztecas for desert. It was phenomenal. It was made up of fried dough sprinkled with sugar and honey topped with two scoops of ice cream and whipped cream. Overall, Hacienda Azteca was a great dining experience. I appreciated the service from the staff and the food was delicious. I will definitely be coming back soon. I highly recommend it.

I have never eaten in the restaurant but have had take out multiple times and its always been pretty good. I am sort of surprised by all the bad reviews. We have always had pretty decent takeout from them.

Came here for my friend’s 40th birthday dinner. I was sorely tempted to skip dinner because of all the negative reviews here on Unilocal.I have to say, I believe that, in the words of the great Mike Francesa, «I’m a hahd mahker» and I must report that my experience here was quite good. My seasonal mixed-veggie fajita was tasty and healthy. The only complaints are that the black beans were overly salty and my boyfriend didn’t love his paella. However, all my friends were happy with their mole dishes and tasty margaritas. I’m not Mexican but I’ve been to Mexico and felt the food here to be authentic. The place is clean and the waitstaff is friendly and helpful.

I had the misfortune of attending a birthday dinner here. I was debating whether to give one or two stars… but«meh, Ive had better» would imply that it was acceptable. We waited over an hour for our entrees. My friends didnt seem to have a problem with their food(I guess their standards are low) but my burritos were terrible. They were cold and barely had any filling. The rice was dry. The beans were AWFUL. I thought something was wrong with them. The follwing day my insides paid a price as well. The servers were nice but an hour for Mexican food? Throw some pre-cooked slop onto a tortilla and its done. Another thing I HATED about this place was the obnoxious stressful loud music and my final detest was for the mother effing fajitas. EVERYSINGLETIME someone in the dining room ordered them, the entire room was full of smoke and the stench of fajitas. The smoke and the smell lingered and lingered until the nextnext order for them came out. I ordered a glass of sangria to numb the pain. sangria is supposed to have FRUIT. NOTCHOPPEDUPORANGEANDLEMONPEELS!!! NEVERAGAIN!!! I feel bad leaving this review because our server was so nice and the tres leches cake was edible. But really this place has got to shape up. I have ZERO intention of returning.

Was in the area, gave this place a try. Ate at the bar, local singer was fine, but a bit loud, especially when they switched from live music to bad 80’s hits. Food was good, not great. Steak had a good taste, rice and been side plate was luke warm at best. Margarita was good, but expensive(10). Bartender didn’t make it the way I asked, mildly disappointing. Overall can be a good place if your in the area and wanting for mexican, but prob not worth going out of the way for.

The wait staff is welcoming and attentive. The guacamole is perfect. The margaritas are decent and strong but then again I only drink those frozen flavored ones, so I’m not sure about the real margaritas. The food is very good. I’ve eaten here many times and I’m never disappointed. I’m surprised by the lack of great reviews as they truly deserve them. You will have to judge for yourself.

The food here is alright, but the steep prices and terrible service made sure that I would never return. I went with a friend, the place was empty on a weekday afternoon– that should have told us something. We both ordered fajitas, which took forever to come out, although there was no one else in the place. Mine(vegetable) came with rice and beans, my friend’s(chicken) did not. We pointed this out, and were told that the chicken fajitas do not come with rice and beans. Fine– she asks if she can add them, the waiters hesitate, seem to argue with one another in Spanish, but eventually one of them brings out rice and beans. Thanks–«can I also have some more lettuce please?» «No.» NO? Really? Also, no refills on soda or iced tea. Umm, okayyy… refusing to give a customer some measly shredded iceberg lettuce-it was just plain weird. The waiters also seemed to be cursing at us periodically in Spanish. All in all, overpriced mediocre food and rude service. The only thing I will say is that they do have good salsa. However, that is just not enough to get me to return. There are plenty of better restaurants in the area– do yourself a favor and skip this one.
